Suthin Poonsawat shows reporters Monday a court warrant that misidentified him as a defendant in a theft case.

UBON RATCHATHANI — A businesswoman agreed Monday to withdraw a lawsuit against a man in northeastern Thailand after realizing she meant to sue someone else with the same name.

Suthin Poonsawat, 33 of Ubon Ratchathani province, was misidentified as another Suthin Poonsawat who owed 472,000 baht to a construction company. Seems incredible...did they not check at least the date of birth and the chaps address?

Such incidents are worrying if elementary dilligence is not applied.

And what to say if such negligence from authorities lead to one's bank accounts emptied or even property grabbed from the wrong person?????.

And he's not suing for libel? In some "more advanced" countries, he's be standing between two lawyers.

So.... another misleading headline?

the guy is not in debt, and never was... just subject to a wrongful lawsuit.

obviously he should be compensated for the actions of the plaintif... and if this is a common occurrence, then this should be pursued with vigor, to send a message to others contemplating similar actions.

bizarrely, the burden of proof is on the accused... but what can one expect from a system that is.... well... is so busted that all the kings men cannot put it back together again

Every chance she paid someone to get anyone she could nail for stealing her stuff; even if it was Winnie the Pooh. Near enough is good enough.
