Mate buries unconscious man in sand thinking that will make him come round from electric shock

A construction worker who found his friend unconscious thought he had suffered an electric shock.

 

So, according to ancient beliefs, he buried his pal up to his neck in sand to enable him to come round.

 

When this didn't work he called the hospital.

 

Medics from Burapha University Hospital tried a more modern method, CPR, but Sakon Chaodorn, 40, from Udon Thani was dead.

 

The incident happened at a building site in Chonburi where workers are extending a department store.

 

Khanom Yotchaiphoom, 56, said his mate had taken Monday off as he had blown his wages on a drinking binge and couldn't face work.

 

He was due back at work yesterday but Khanom saw him staggering then fall down. He believed he had had an electric shock and so he decided to bury him in sand as he believed that would help him recover.

 

But it didn't work so he called the hospital who were unable to help his friend, reported Thai Rath.

 

Saensuk police found no injuries on the body.

But remember, never mock or criticize someone's superstitious beliefs. That way things like this can keep happening. Feelings are more important than others' physical well-being.

People will come on here and make excuses for the digger (how long did it take, I wonder?)  Education will be chief amongst the excuses.  I think it's down to genetics.

I thought the sacrifice of a chicken and the sprinkling of lotus flowers was the correct treatment for electric shock.

Please don't mention the name of the university or tech college where this moron learned about this ancient remedy, or face a defamation suit.
