Muslim man shot dead in Narathiwat

By The Nation

A Muslim man was shot and killed in front of his own house in Narathiwat’s Bacho district Saturday morning, police said.

The victim was identified as Samsuding Saleh, 43, a resident of Ban Yalutong in Tambon Kayoh Madee of Bacho district.

Witnesses told police that the gunman came to the house at 6.30am and called Samsuding to come out for a talk. But when he came out, he was gunned down. He was shot once in the head and again in his chest.

Police suspected the shooting was motivated by personal conflicts.

A Muslim man not a Thai man????? Just wondering ????? RIP.

Agree with RichardColeman

If a similar attack happened in Bangkok, would the authorities say that a Buddhist man was shot?

It's as if people in the Southern Provinces aren't considered Thai if they're Muslims.

They are Muslim first...the country where they were born or reside is secondary.

Not sure I understand your disconnection of the Muslim religion with birth or residence, but the lands where Muslims in the Southern provinces originated were from an Islamic State. So their place of birth or reside is not secondary. As a large majority of Thais are connected with a Buddhist State in terms of residence and birth, so too Muslims are connected with an Islamic culture in the south.

But the Thai State refuses any separate sovereignty to the Muslims in the south.
