SAN ANTONIO (Reuters) - A Gulf of Mexico storm rapidly intensified on Thursday spinning into the potentially biggest hurricane to hit the mainland United States in 12 years and taking aim at the heart of nation's oil refining industry.

BANGKOK: -- As early as 6am on Friday, supporters of former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra as well as key figures of Pheu Thai Party and the red-shirt group travelled to the Supreme Court, which will rule later in the day in the case against her and her ministers over the rice-pledging scheme that caused huge losses to the Kingdom.

The Supreme Court’s Criminal Division for Holders of Political Positions today issued warrant for the arrest of ex-premier Yingluck Shinawatra after she failed to appear in the court to hear her judgement on the rice pledging scheme.

BANGKOK: -- Former commerce minister Boonsong Teriyapirom said today that he would  pose bail for temporary release  if the Supreme Court’s Criminal Division for Holders of Political Positions handed down jail sentence on him for a fake G2G rice deal case or which he and 28 others were accused of corruption.

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha said on Friday he had assigned officials to try and determine the whereabouts of former Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra after she failed to appear at the Supreme Court’s Criminal Division for Holders earlier in the morning to hear the verdict in her trial on malfeasance while in power.

At least 32 dead in Myanmar as Rohingya insurgents stage major attack

Back in Bangkok after Phuket court case dropped

Leaving Phuket Provincial Court, Jonathan told Phuket Gazette, “I was confident we would win. We felt the case against us was not strong. I had faith in the Thai justice system not to put us in jail.

 

Jonathan Head is back in Bangkok following his two day visit to Phuket. His case came to an abrupt conclusion when the man suing him, Phuket lawyer Pratuan Thanarak withdrew the charges. He was suing Mr Head over a story that appeared on the BBC in 2015 where the lawyer claimed he was defamed.

PM admits he has no idea about Ms Yingluck’s whereabouts

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha admitted on Friday that he had no idea about the whereabouts of former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra, but he reminded her that she might lose the chance to appeal the verdict of the Supreme Court’s Criminal Division for Holders of Political Offices.
