[if anyone wishes to arrive before any of the above there's EVA's BR076, the 1235 (Wednesday 27th) departure from Amsterdam, due at Bangkok at 0430 on the 28th.

Just tried to book this flight in AMS. EVA says it's cancelled. Should I phone BKK?

This flight has not been cancelled, IT WAS NEVER SCHEDULED, BR076 only flys this route

on Tues/Fri/Sun Never has it been scheduled to fly on Wednesdays, let alone Wed 27th Sept.

Yes, you are 100% correct, and the September edition of the Thailand Airline Timetable is not worth the paper it's printed on. It clearly shows BR076 as arriving Bangkok on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

'Sorry for any inconvenience caused' as they say.

....and I thought first flight INTO or OUT of the new airport was 6am local time.

Don Muang closed from midnight? This 6 hours allows all to phyisically move to new airport, which having seen it, is great by the way. Do check your flight details carefully with airlines when they know! Some flights already using new airport. Plenty of Taxis & Bus at Transportation Centre.

....and I thought first flight INTO or OUT of the new airport was 6am local time.
Today, at Don Muang, there were flights scheduled to arrive at 01:20 am and 04:20 am.

post-21260-1157669886_thumb.jpg

This would give a window of 3 hours “to transfer everything” from Don Muang to Suvarnabhumi, which is of course impossible. Anyway, since local carriers are invited to start flying to/from Suvarnabhumi already from 15 SEP 2006, much needs to be duplicated at the new airport, hence no need for a quick transfer of everything.

You are correct. I was trying to book from BKK-AMS on 27 Sept. EVA said only 26 or 29. Had to return to work a day early. Reckon I can send Toxin a bill?

  • 2 weeks later...

Where do i collect my prize? :D

Landed FD 3504 at 4.25pm today at Suvarnabhumi ................thats all i can say good about the place at present.

Right here we go..............

Landed 4.25pm plane taxied to concourse by 4.35pm ,this looks good i thought no bus to transfer to terminal.............no such luck..............we exit the plane and immediately are directed to some service steps , so down the steps passed a bit of loose scaffolding and lo and behold theres a bus to transfer us to the terminal.

Off the bus (which had to double park due to construction vehicles) and into terminal........turn right and theres the escalator to take you up a level................unfortunately the electric hasnt been hooked up yet so its up the steps on your feet.

(Should point out at this point none of the place is painted..........just smooth plaster).

On the way to passport control i nip to the toilet..........no water in urinals, had to use the wc.........also no water to the basins to wash your hands.

Immigration was quick maybe 5 mins........looks to be about 80 plus potential exit points to get stamped in.

Pick baggage up...........again no problems.

Exit baggage area and ask at the information desk they have set up, what the score is regards buses etc.................unfiortunately she didnt have a clue (and i was with a thai g/f)

So we head down a level to where the shuttle buses operate.......waited 15 mins but no bus.

At this point i took the easy way out and asked the guy working behind the taxi stand wearing a mask........how much to Pattaya?............answer 1500 baht (in a yellow and green cab this was)...........he took 1300 in the end.

Travel time to Pattaya North road was 90 mins...............that include a traffic jam about 35kms out from Patters.

So there you go.........hopefully they will be able to sort the teething problems out..........once they finish the airport that is of course. :o

(An aside.............my eyes are still stinging from the glue fumes inside the main building due to the ongoing work).

Thanks for your report. As far as I can tell, you are the first ThaiVisa member to have arrived on an international flight at Suvarnabhumi. The least you should get is a medal.

Next in line, and the first after the official opening time of 0300 hours on 28 September, is Erikr.

I’ll get there towards the end of November, by which time I hope no gas masks will be needed anymore.

The layout is straightforward , if only it was all operational.

After clearing immigration and picking your baggage up exit through the "nothing to declare" channel and turn left......walk along and you find a travellator (which was working) to take you down a level to the taxis and bus to transportation terminal.....if they are running that is.

That would be TG911, departs LHR at 12:30, arrives in BKK at 06:05. But that's not the earliest THAI flight. TG316 from Dehli is the first scheduled THAI flight into the officially opened Suvarnabhumi at 05:05.

So 1 Hour in it but knowing Dehli (its in Indiaaa) it should/could be LATE so still a chance for whoever might be travelling on the first official London "shuttle"flight :o

Used to go through Calcutta/Bombay on BINMAN in the 80s ....dear dear...

Is there a separate thread for departures?

I fly from the new airport tomorrow 28 Sep. at 06:50 on UA 852 BKK-NRT, return 3 Oct at 23:05 on UA 837 NRT-BKK.

(Tonight's UA flight from NRT is landing at the new airport.)

Hey, better not let Britmaveric read that. He still thinks UA flights are heading to Don Muang.

I fly out September 29, 08:25, BKK-CEI.

Slightly off topic but i was supposed to land at 16.55 and actually landed at 16.25........30 mins ahead off schedule, take off time was the same.

Now theres a first for AirAsia!

(Or is the new airport closer when coming from Singapore way on? :o )

Yes, that is a first, an AirAsia flight is 30 minutes early! Must have been due to the lack of other arriving aircraft. I wouldn't want to bet on them being early tomorrow.

Hey, better not let Britmaveric read that. He still thinks UA flights are heading to Don Muang.

I fly out September 29, 08:25, BKK-CEI.

About nine months ago I elected to "choose to ignore" all posts by that indivudual, mainly because they were always short, snippy, insulting, un- and mis-informed and sophmoric, so I have no idea what he's been saying about UA flights? (By the way, that is a great feature, almost as good as the one that allows you to turn off avatars.)

UA/Bangkok sent an email today, and called me, to confirm departure from the new airport I'll go with what UA tells me.

I purchased my ticket and planned this trip ~ 9 months ago, based on a family event in the U.S.A. and did not even realize my scheduled departure coincided with the opening of the new airport until a few months ago. If I could have changed it, without losing my upgrades, I would have departed today.

THAI AIRWAYS INTL - TG 911 ARRIVES TERMINAL 1

Suvarnabhumi has only one terminal, I see, called “main terminal”

It is indeed interesting that THAI’s own website still shows this flight arriving on 28 September at “Terminal 1”

Now, let me go and see what flight arrival information other airlines have on their websites.
