I'm always a bit careful with new procedures....not an early adopter. Have you been receiving treatment prior to this? If so what, amiodarone? warfarin? What has prompted the mention of surgical ablation at this time? New symptoms? I am familiar with the clinical data but would ask Sheryl if the data are compelling with regard to reduction in stroke risk and mortality?

I would love her to become PM. It is only the Shinawatra clan that seem to have any idea of how to grow and economy and how to share out the growth a little more equitable than the army. Take a look at Thailand's growth in GDP from 1995 to 2022 and line it up with who is running the country at the time., you will see what I mean. And, no I won't provide a link, do some work yourselves. Having said all that, she will last all of 5 minutes before the next army coup whatever voters may say in any election. It gave me a hearty laugh all the nonsense about lack of democracy when PT formed the government here after 2 members of the same family, democratically elected in a much fairer process than we now have, were deposed in army coups.

I have been thinking about this for some time. I am relatively well off and will leave my Thai wife land, property and cash. She also has her own money but only about 40,000 baht a month pension from her previous husband. Our house is very large and expensive to run 20K/month for electric, 40K/month for staff to drive, garden etc, 50K/year insurance on cars but no debts. I'm over 70, but not really in good shape and don't expect to last more than 5 years at most and based on this expectation I expect top leave her between $600K and $1M in cash. I am worried sick that this will just disappear when the family get their hooks into her. I have assets in the US that I can put in trust and stop her from accessing, but realistically, with the new tax laws I don't want to be sending over cash over here to her. My US pensions will go to my ex-wife in the US and I will leave money for my kids to help their retirement. I will be grateful for any ideas from this forum.

Dom, captain of Wild Boars football team, killed himself at school in UK
retarius replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Very sad. I sincerely hope he wasn't being abused, as is so often the case in UK schools. I hope the police do a decent inquiry instead of just brushing it of with the "nobody could have foreseen..." comment, which looks like a cop out. -
Ministry Slams Showing Video Of Thai Being Brutally Killed At UN
retarius replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I didn't realise he was Thai. There's a lot of hate in the world for sure....but killed with a garden tool? At least they didn't have US weapons sent to Ukraine or you may have had a real bloodbath. Is that what Hamas, the feared terror organisation, are fighting with these days. Personally I doubt that this is any sort of organised terror attack, just a 'lone wolf' as they say, a member of a minority oppressed person relieving some personal rage and hatred. Much worse is happening in Gaza every day, and much worse happens every day in US cities and towns with mass shootings. It would be an improvement in US foreign policy to send some garden tools to Ukraine instead of bombs, will surely cut down on the death toll. -
Cool season in Thailand delayed due to El Niño phenomenon
retarius replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Been a rooster this year, that's for sure. I posted on here a few days ago that I thought I could feel a change in the weather. Shows how stupid might I be, doesn't it? -
As smog season returns, can Thailand avert another health crisis?
retarius replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I'm not sure what constitutes a health crisis from smog? How many asthma sufferers need to be hospitalised for it to be called a crisis. Seems everything lis labelled a crisis these days? Seems to me this a case where urgent Government action is needed to stamp out the centuries old field burning each year....but asking for Government action is much like asking for Santa Claus to being you a Tesla for Christmas/./. ain't gonna happen. I'm a bit of a Victor Meldrew type and as I pass police stations I always count the number of cars that are actually out on the road fighting crime....pitifully few are out on the road and at immigration even the BMW smart cars are parked there permanently tethered to the electricity meter (I think they may have range problems). You literally never see one even being moved. So with cops sat on their arses all day long and having breaks for everything imaginable, can you really see them going out and arresting some old farmer in a rural area who tells you his fire was started by a neighbour's fire. Nothing will change. -
Thais are largest group of dead foreigners in Israel
retarius replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I read elsewhere on AN (I think) that Thais are the largest single foreign group in Israel. So is this simply a case of random killing so the bigger the group the more killed? Or is there any evidence that Thais are being selected as targets in higher proportions than other nationalities? -
Well this is the death of PT. The core of their support in Isaan doesn't support this woke nonsense. There are two genders male like me, and female like my wife, and marriage its between in. woman and a man. This is what voters in Isaan want. My female born wife recently did a survey among the folks in our village, not a single yay in support of these bills. Fix the economy first stupid was the general feeling, people are suffering upon here while you want to throw money away on a party for the rich in Bangkok, to 'celebrate' gay pride. There is nothing to be proud of in being gay. Nothing to be ashamed of either, but I don't want it shoved down my throat. Do what you want in your bedroom, provided it is consensual and legal, but keep it to yourself. I don't care what you do not do I want to know.

Stupid comment, lacking any sense at all.

Kick-off of 1 Million Doses of HPV Vaccine Scheduled for November
retarius replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Not a chance. No one from the government will get into my arm with another untested, non viable, non working vaccine. -
Thai Airways sees surge in bookings despite pandemic and global conflict
retarius replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Well some great news, no doubt predicted accurately by TAT and aided by new uniforms. Tip: try see through uniforms and watch booking soar like a Thai Airways jet. -
Thai woman arrested in Taiwan for prostitution in Taiwan
retarius replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Another total shocker. This has ruined my breakfast. Deport her and ban her entry until there are no prostitutes left in Taiwan. -
Actually it 'may' exceed 50 baht per unit next year or the year after. Clue the use of the word 'may' or 'might' in the headline means a doom porn article coming up. One case of monkeypox reported in Isaan, the whole province 'may' have to go into lockdown for 3 years. Come on, you can do better than this.

It was the golden age from most people's point off view.

I started reading the Guardian over 60 years ago in college. I still use the website several times a day. I have been sickened by their blatant propaganda for Ukraine and their nazi ideology; Israel's brutality and apartheid policies; for the US's dreadful leadership of the world (which I hope will come to an end soon before I die); for the relentless identity politics and the LBGTQ whatever is the acronym off the day; and for endless and endless articles about "here-we've-found -new-a-victim" (eg left handed midget women being discriminated against in Sudan). It's a total rag, less accurate than the Sun for sure.

Yes. Thanks. Sorry for the late response there was no notification I got any replies.

Thailand’s smartphone market bracing for double-digit slump
retarius replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Good I'm thinking of buying. anew phone. I have both an old Samsung Android phone.....great phone great battery, but big.....and an iPhone, poor phone, poor volume control have to use speaker all the time, crappy battery that was changed about 8 months ago and will carry a FaceTime conversation for about 10 minutes before it's depleted and a tiny screen for my aged eyeballs. Wife has a recent iPhone whatever the number....and we use FaceTime a lot, but I seriously hate Apple for screwing workers in China, for degrading the environment, for paying no taxes etc etc I think they are the worst company on earth. I'd like to get a Linux phone if that is possible....does anyone know of a decent Linux OS phone in a mid price range say 25K? -
I have to be honest, I hate the shaved head look. Perhaps it comes from the skinhead fashion based on shaved head, Harrington jackets, chinos, Doc Martens and ruthless, pointless violence, during the late 1960s. Ugh. Horrible look and horrible outlook oil life and other people. I feel the same way about tattoos, although both my offspring have very extensive tattoos, but I have no friends that have them. My mother used to say that having tattoos were a sign of a bad'un who had them done in prison (despite her own father who had been to sea, having a couple). Bit it is funny how and why our prejudices arise, isn't it?

I suppose he's innocent until proven guilty, or is that not the legal principle any more? I'm old and get easily confused. He's got some really long hairs growing out of that mole on the side of his face. I don't know whether this is good for the prosecution or the defence. RIP Nong Chompu, you poor mite, you deserved a better life whoever killed you, I suspect you had relatives (mother et al) who might have loved you more and looked after you better. A tragedy.

I have a full head of hair and a tiny penis so they would be really disappointed when they go me to the room in the back.
