  2. No need to set up wise, you get them to send to your Thai bank account. Simple as that
  3. Have been watching the following Slow Horses UK (UK MI5 agents, good action and funny) 1923 (spin off from Yellowstone) The Peripheral (Si Fi) Glass Onion (who don’t it murder mystery) Tulsa King (gangster series by the creator of Yellowstone) Jack Ryan (latest TV series of Tom Clancy’s books) The Recruit (bumbling lawyer for the CIA) Yellowstone (modern day cowboys, but am getting a bit bored with the latest installment)
  4. "Over one million books" and the population of Thailand is around 70million? Not a good percentage, also it would have been interesting to know what the titles of the top 20 books were.
  5. The crazy thing is he was only fined a small amount then told to leave Thailand. Should have been whipped, fined thousands of Euros and placed in jail until paid then deported and placed on a blacklist so he could not come back. Also details placed on an International sex offenders list
  6. "In recent years" do you mean since the the 70s when american army use to come to Pataya?

  8. Dairy Queen prices going up for tourists? Here is the list of hotels he owns https://www.minor.com/en/businesses/minor-hotels List of food outlets he owns https://www.minor.com/en/businesses/minor-food List of lifestyle brands he sells https://www.minor.com/en/businesses/minor-lifestyle
  9. Remember to check all the notes to ensure there are no rips, pen marks etc... Otherwise the large bundle of cash will be a lot lighter. Was surprised in Vietnam last week, the exchange took out an eraser and removed the pen marks off two UK bank notes, the joy of polymer notes.
  10. some interesting info on Suvarnabhumi airport https://www.bangkokairportonline.com/suvarnabhumi-airport-quick-facts/
  11. Never exchange money at airports as the rates are lower than outside, they have a captured audience. To check rates daily for exchange in Bangkok, check out this link https://daytodaydata.net/
  12. Yes no problems, I flew in from the UK in July, they did not ask for covid passport, or medical insurance. I wore a mask on the plane, better safe than sorry. Also flew in and out of Vietnam last week to Thailand, no checks, had to wear mask on the plane Airasia,
  13. I use Wise every month here in Thailand, have used them for many years. Monday to Friday it takes only a few seconds to a few minutes. Adviod Saturday and Sunday as you will not get the money until the following Monday. Also watch out for public holidays in the UK and Thailand as this will delay your money arriving until the next business working day.
  14. Only down side online is the number of fake products or when you buy something they send you a dish cloth, Lazada did rewfund my money, also a friend purchased 5,000 bhat part for the wasjing machine, he recived four pensils, once again Lazada refunded the money. I think these scams work on a percentage of people not trying to get the money back
  15. Here is a link to more of the story, the thai man has had brain surgery and is in a critical condition https://nextshark.com/frenchmen-assault-thai-man-coma/
  16. The Thai man, Somkuan was rushed to Koh Samui Hospital, where he reportedly received emergency brain surgery to treat a brain hemorrhage and is still in critical condition. you can get a better outlook on this story at https://nextshark.com/frenchmen-assault-thai-man-coma/
  17. CCTV is good after the deed is done, yet enforcing the traffic laws would be the best place to start
  18. You are an adult, go to the tourist police and file a complaint, saying that you may get no result and LB will be still living there and will know you went to the police. As many expats on here have already said, move, the easy option and you will have a better quality of life. It is interesting the Condo management have not done anything, maybe move into a better condo that has a good track record of management, go for the big names in the industry.
  19. They have been trying in the USA for many years, look where that ended up.
  20. Fighting is typical in Thailand Thai on Thai, many daily reports on Thai news. The fights with tourists are what get mentioned on here, though not an every day event, it happens for many differant reasons, yes a tourist may open their mouth to complain about being over charged or for some other reason and ends up getting in trouble. Tourists do not know the famous Thai smile is paper thin and we farangs who live here know how it works and how to stay out of trouble.
  21. Hi Have a friend coming for a holiday in December, he is here for 34 days, and his holiday visa is for 30 days? I want to ask if the visa run from Ranong to Myanmar is still available.
  22. As it says "a Guide to Executing Bail-in" it is to ensure banks have enough resources to weather a run and we do not have a repeat of what happen in 2007. Saying that it is a worry what this dam government is doing or not doing, so instead of the banks its the government screwing things up. Am sure if Labour (who I have never voted for) stood up and said they would reverse what the government has done and place a short-term special tax in place so the companies making billions will have to help the general population. I see Spain has just brought in a similar tax on the super-rich.
