  1. Where did you see "Uk banks are tightening up on cash withdrawals" ???? False news on your part
  2. Hi, Anyone had travel insurance to cover any mediacl emergency (accident etc) when traveling to Vietnam for a short holiday? Any recommendations of insurerance companys here in Thailand?
  3. She is gone, not worth you waiting for her to come back. Pack your things and move to a new Condo and do not tell her, then see a lawyer and get divorce. Then move on. If you stay togeather it will happen again
  4. Have been using them for many years, not a scam company at all. I would point out that some times the photos of some hotels are not a true likeness, maybe photo was taken when first open. Also need to check exactly where the hotel is for location, ease of transport etc. But over all very good. You may want to also look at Tra .... go and Google travel as comparison sites
  5. Some private condos do charge a higher rate than the standard MEA, its a way of making more money from you. Better to get an appartment that is on the goverment rate, that extra saving makes a differance. Plus on a MEA rate you know the bill will always be around the same amount each month which gives you peace of mind.
  6. And what respect has Trump for people? Your statement just supports my comment 100%. But it is a democracy so everyone is free to express what they want.
  7. What amazes me is there are so many Americans who support trump, they do not seem to see or care that he is just out for himself, is a liar, and divides America. Makes Americans who follow him look very stupid which sadly reflects on how people look at America as a whole.
  8. Over priced for who? In large citys you will pay a higher price, just the same as in any country. I know there is a big differance in land prices in the countryside depending where you are, for example Southern comapared to Northern prices. It also depends on how much money you have in your bank account as to if it is overpriced.
  9. The land purchased by a Foreigner in the name of a Thai is still owned by a Thai regardless who paid. It is hard enough now for a thai to buy land but to allow Foreigners to own land would push up the prices which will effect local Thais. As for allowing Foreigner to own say just one rai, I can see a Foreigner suddenly having all his relations owning land next to each other and how many rai is that? There will always be someone to find a way around restrictions of ownwership. There is the easy way of having a company here and then you can buy land and own it, a friend has purchased many beachfront rai in a company name and is just sitting on it to sell at a much higher price. Also some large Thai companys have done the same.
  10. IMO I think it is good that foreigners cannot own land in Thailand, if they could the price of land would skyrocket and local people would not be able to afford to buy land.
  11. I think only about two years max. They are very popular in Australia
  12. There are FB groups here for the Havel but all in Thai and translate is not always the best. I did sign up with an Australian Havel group, and so many people rave about their Havels in Oz, only problem is they do not have the Hybrids there yet, coming very soon though. Would be interested in hearing of any expat who has one in Thailand
  13. I think you will find it depends what part of Thailand you are in and what the local officials say or how they interpret the law. A Canadian friend died here, police informed, body taken to the morgue. I informed his children in Canada about his death, they flew over. The police informed the Embassy, no papers were required from the embassy to cremate the body, did not have to wait for any paperwork to sell his bikes and belongings, BKK Bank allowed them to take the money out of his bank account via the ATM (left a few Bhat in there). I sent his passport back to the embassy and they cancelled it. I am sure what you have said is correct but if you live here you will know local officials have their own way of doing things, some by the book or some with the least amount of work.
  14. I would think it is a waste of time, Goverment departments are slow at the best of times, am sure there will be lots of questions and all for 3 weeks? It is not worth the stress, relax enjoy your holiday or if you want to experince why you left the UK in the first place then apply LOL
  15. So many unknown factors left out of this question, how long have you been married, do you own property. If the wife has left you and is living with another man then why are you paying her money? why not cut all ties with her? In my opinion, if no property involved then move to another part of Thailand and then stop paying money to her, also change your phone number. If there is property involved, then may want to get a lawyer. I would not pay her any money and would change the locks on the house, condo
  16. ATM (very commn name with farangs in Thailand)
