  1. Well, I agree with you there. Don't like the whistles.
  2. Lol. Is that your critical thinking? I advise people to Google it. You're obviously beyond redemption.
  3. Are you saying Tommy Robinson supporters are fascists? JohnnyF's gonna be really annoyed at you. 😆 https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gay_Nazis_myth
  4. Absolutely. As soon as there is any mention of LGBT+ or particularly trans issues the same old names are on here spouting their bigoted nonsense. They're obsessed and it's unhealthy.
  5. Nice to see you're enjoying your final years. 😆
  6. Yeah, foreigner in Cambodia moaning about something in another country that won't affect him. The great joy of Pride is listening to miserable old farangs here moaning about how it's upsetting them. Always amusing.
  7. **Update** So it turns out that this is not scam as I first thought. Accessing my secure online Nationwide account there's a pdf in the documents section bizarrely named idv-bridge which shows a letter sent me at the beginning of May. The letter states that if I don't comply with their ID requirements my account may be blocked or closed. They give a link to a company called Mitek who handle online id's. They seem to be legit. You have to have your face and your passport photo verified as matching. You might want to check it out if you have a Nationwide account as they're not giving much time to confirm before they act.
  8. That's not LGBT+ forcing the policy on the Student Union, that's a policy by the committee. You've conflated one with the other. If you have proof that LGBT+ forced them to fly the flag as you said please provide proof.
  9. A couple of hours ago I had a call purportedly from Nationwide UK asking if I received their letter about closing my account. Immediate red flag. Apparently unless they receive a copy of my passport by early June for KYC checks they will have to close it. Hmmm To verify it's me I will have to answer some security questions. Even bigger red flag. Nope, no way. Lol They he asked me to call a U.K. number to speak to the correct department and give them details. As he was talking I checked the number online and others had reported a scam on that number. Apparently a fake letter is sent out with a QR code to use. Lol Anyway, he wasn't getting anything out of me, so I proceeded to rant on about the banks to rack up his phone bill. When I stated that you can't be too careful these days as there are so many scammers out there he seemed anxious to get off the phone. 🙂 I'll wait and see if I get letter and probably send Nationwide a message to clarify. Just a head's up.
  10. They don't and never have done. No one has ever been forced to celebrate gay people by the LGBT community. You're being silly.
  11. I remember watching a Japanese documentary called 72 Hours which followed various occupations for three days. One episode was on junior doctors. Having finished a 20 hour shift one doctor said he was going to try to get some sleep, but he had to start again in a few hours. With that he put three plastic chairs together and slept on those.
  12. When long term residents return from a trip abroad and stay for a night or two in Bangkok are you putting the hotel name or your ultimate long-term residence address?
  13. Likely a former bank clerk or official. Media like to call them bankers. It's a misnomer that anyone working in banking is rolling in money.
  14. Science doesn't concern itself with the spiritual, just the natural world. I think you might be thinking of the so-called New Atheists who actively attempt to persuade people that they know gods don't exist. That's not traditional atheism whereby you just don't believe a creator God exists.
  15. Yes, it can be taken to extreme levels, which is always a worry.
  16. It's not really though is it? The only condition is that you have the belief that no gods exist until there is sufficient proof otherwise. In most religions the belief system entails all sorts of conditions, dogmas and rituals that must be adhered to to be a real follower. None of these appear in atheism. Moreover there must be endless discussion and argument between religious sects and denominations on how all of this is applied and what it means. None of this is applicable in atheism. And there are no leaders or rules to follow. Nowhere near comparable as a belief system. Not even a philosophy.
  17. I know what you mean. It can come across as a bit of a self-help book, suffering from nuances that are missing in literal translations from the mandarin. Those in the know say that it's better if you read it in the original Chinese. And a lot of it is dependant on cleromancy which is alien to the western mind.
  18. The Tao is probably all you need, or the I Ching less the divinition. But some humans do like their gods. It's easy .......and lazy minded.
  19. The numinous. I remember just before he died Christopher Hitchins was asked, if he could change one thing in world what would it be. His answer was to do away with the numinous.
  20. Buddhism, if you consider it a religion and not just a philosophy. Too much harmful baggage with the others.
  21. Atheism is not a belief in nothing, just a disbelief in creator gods and organized religion. As an atheist I fully believe in: Goodness Kindness Determination Confidence Sincerity Helpfullness Family Self-respect Respecting others Gentleness Good health Peace Tranquility Equality Quality and more. All the things that make us good humans can be found outside organized religion. I also respect people's right to choose a religion as they see fit but there's no compunction on me to respect that religion.
  22. It's all moot anyway as marathon toilets are all transportable, individual cubicles that anyone can use. It's not the issue you think it is.
  23. Johnny, you obviously don't know much about F1. There are plenty of slow drivers plodding about at the back of the field on daddy's sponsorship cash. They're not there for their speed. And your Ronnie Sullivan analogy is daft. 99% of male snooker professionals can't live with Ronnie. Does that mean they shouldn't be allowed to compete? I actually agree with you in part about the designation of non-mixed sports but not for the reasons you quote. My worry is that mixed participation will dilute people's interest, not that women couldn't compete. If The Masters, say, was 50/50 men and women it wouldn't attract the same interest, rightly or wrongly. That's just the way people are.
  24. I know what I mean. There have been women drivers competing in F1 since the 50s. They have had limited success because it has not been seen as a sport for women, so they haven't had the sponsorship needed but there is no reason why they can't rival the men in the future. Similarly in snooker women compete on an equal basis and a Thai player has recently achieved the highest score of 147. No lack of co-ordination there. I'm curious, are you opposed to biological women competing in men's sports?
