  1. I consider myself fortunate not to have come across him before........or if so conveniently forgotten......... The article he quotes in Khaosod English news dated 31st August has a headline (I haven't put the link as not sure allowed) The so called expert is Dr. Sopon Pornchokchai, president of the Real Estate Research and Valuation Center of the Agency for Real Estate Affairs (AREA) So actually nothing to do with the Thai Tax authorities..........possibly scaremongering just a little bit...........
  2. If they hadn't the tax threads would have been half the length at least. https://sherrings.com/common-reporting-standard-crs-tax-laws-thailand.html
  3. I did this some years ago and I think you made need to read up on the process as it wasn't as simple for me as you suggest although I could be wrong and things have changed since then. If so apologies. I remember going to get an export licence/certificate at least a couple of days before but I was using a company to organise. I have just checked some old emails and found the pdf but I stress it is 8 years old at least but may help - I also discover I cannot add pdfs...... However please note on there it states there you are supposed to apply for the export permission a minimum of 3 and maximum of 7 days before.......... This was the relevant part -
  4. Good plumber (but also can do some electrics apparently) but limited English - Toom - 081 399 3630
  5. Possibly, and I don't know for sure, Double Kiss on 3rd Road - roughly opposite Soi 21 that goes down to Soi Buakhow
  6. Thanks for clarifying. The Reuters article I saw was less informative than the AseanNow one and definitely no mention of expats in either.
  7. I just completed this quiz. My Score 70/100 My Time 131 seconds
  8. I just completed this quiz. My Score 60/100 My Time 124 seconds

  11. Yes that's the ideal scenario from their point of view..... I received similar for Outlook 2007 and for Thunderbird which I use to manage a number of other email addresses. I am not sure if this is the same as the OP as my message was received 6 weeks ago..... This was the message I got and then there was a link to sort it out.
  12. When you say local news can you provide a link please? It wasn't picked up in the AseanNow article unless I missed it.
  13. Check out @ukrules posts - he has already moved and I believe @Danderman123 also........
  14. The other option is those who have "forgotten" to inform the authorities that they no longer reside in the UK........
  15. Interesting place to post............ Which part of the group was offering that? I seem to remember there was a similar question from a poster a while back - either in Banking or Insurance forums. Unless you have had contact with them I would question how they got your email address. With rates about to reduce you would have to question the validity of the offer........
  16. You are either very lucky or as YT says it is a different account or......something......... The link you gave does not need any login......... I have the same as YT. It is a PITA but cannot do anything about it. Edit - Since I don't need them for anything at the moment I will wait to see the outcome of YT's call before trying again.
  17. Do they still get the coaches full of Chinese tourists? A few years ago (may even have been pre covid) a guy I know moved out of there due to that.
  18. I have always understood it to refer to the Deposit Protection Agency and some sites refer to it as the Deposit Protection Agency Act........ https://www.bangkokbank.com/en/Personal/Tips-and-Insights/Save-and-Invest/Practical-advice-on-deposit-protection
  19. Use Skype to phone (£5 credit more than enough) or MyTello has been recommended recently. Last time I logged in I had to input the number on 2 successive tries as the first one failed - so 2 different nos. Have you tried it with a vpn to see if it makes any difference?
  20. The article is about world wide tax not just on what is remitted - so potentially more than a bit....
  21. But currently under Thai RD rules is this not where we are - that it gets taxed at whatever marginal rate when remitted as income (if realised after 31/12/2023)? What "other rules" are likely to be applied?
  22. Suggest you guys read up on CRS - Common reporting Standards Here is a link from a bank to start you off https://www.crs.hsbc.com/en/frequently-asked-questions
  23. Was this the Future Pension Centre - the number for calling from abroad? If so you were very fortunate as I had to wait 25 minutes to get through but possibly I chose different options. I sent them a query on 6th August........still not seen a reply
  24. My comment was somewhat rhetorical...........
