My Thai Tax Office Tax Filing Experience...
topt replied to WingNut's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
DTA states UK Govt. (civil service etc) pension can only be taxed in the UK. Both private pensions and the state pension can be taxed in Thailand. -

To me it reads that he want's to be able to distance himself from the decision (for whatever reason....). Hence Classic Not my fault guv if it goes ahead. -
You could try asking them to put it into bridge mode - that is what I had a for a number of years prior to getting them to switch the package to the CYOD 1GB down 500 up a couple of months ago. That was a struggle but eventually they replaced the modem'router with the ONT in the pic. If they say the router/modem can't do Bridge push them to change it for one that does or change your package.

Seems to be a bit of a dichotomy there? Are you using 10 or 11 and which version - Home/Pro etc. I am on 10 and Bitlocker is apparently installed but in Control Panel it is shown as not switched on - I know as I checked this the other day as I was reading that there have been some recent reports about problems with updates and Bitlocker. However if you have the recovery key there shouldn't be an issue?

Can I ask where you get that from? It is very clear in the HMRC digest that the UK state pension can be taxed in Thailand as their is no relief in the DTA. - note I say can. https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/710099/DT_Digest_April_2018.pdf Go to page 34 Thailand and note 4 on the far right. This has been extensively discussed in the past so I would be interested where your statement is codified in the TRD regs?

Hopefully I have not misunderstood you but apologies if I have. For a start you don't pay 800/400k to anybody. It stays with you so not at all like an insurance payment. Plus you can only claim up to a relatively low amount and it has to be a Thai based company insurance premium - International policies/premiums are not included. Also, being polite, it doesn't matter what you "feel" - it is based on the Thai tax code and it is not something that is negotiable or even debatable......

Most income that arises in the UK is taxed by the UK after the £12,570 single persons allowance. So you would pay tax on pension income over that figure, interest on cash, dividends, bond coupons etc. However if officially non-resident for tax you don't pay any capital gains other than on property so profit from share sales for example are not taxed. If you have income offshore and are non resident then that income is not taxable by HMRC.

"Foreighn Income" and your Thai Accountant.

Instead of an agent how about getting a new spellchecker - foreign spelling is wrong in the title and twice in the message....doesn't inspire any confidence in the poster if you were unaware of the poster before......... If you do it yourself perhaps you never have these irregularities...........I would not know.......... -
As usual you have made the story fit your narrative. Reading the posters actual words he gave figures which were all assessable - state and private pension. The TRD person quoted a tax figure below what he himself had calculated (rightly or wrongly) and paid said amount. Nothing whatsoever to do with any immigration requests. If he failed to claim tax credits down to him. Nothing to do with TRD making it simplified. TRD happy, he happy and if your scenario proves correct Immigration happy. What else would they do...... The only lesson I see is that if you are determined to file make sure you understand what you are doing and what your allowances/TEDA/DTA etc are and TRD should honour what you say.

Which member? If you are referring to @essexman in the pinned thread it had nothing to do with Immigration so I am presuming you mean somebody else?

Yes used them for 3/4 items in last couple of months. No issues at all.

I don't know specifically with AIS but they may just run the fibre to where you want depending on the distance. The only issue is the fibre is not like coax so may not be able to keep it as flush to all surfaces (think corners) as coax. The ONT is basically the modem and the fibre terminates into it with probably an SC or LC connector and will have an ethernet socket to connect a cable from there to your router. It also needs a power supply. Here is a picture of a True box -

I presume the big covered one at the Pattaya Tai end of Soi Buakhao. They have a fair no. of fruit vendors normally.

Just make sure it is clear that this is for your Thai assets only and excludes any others. You may want to check your UK will wording to make sure that there isn't anything in there that will contradict having a separate Thai will.

Transfer money from Thai bank to UK bank
topt replied to Negita43's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
I had a quick look (but not using the AN search function) and this came up - Several examples for Kasikorn. -
It all depends on what your situation was in 2016 when it all changed. How many years you had at that point which from memory decided under which system you would be paid at. For example I had to pay for years after 2016 at the highest rate to get to the full "new" figure as I was contracted out but I could not (well I could have but would have made no difference) pay for some cheaper years at Class 2 or whatever rate as I had been working abroad prior to that. There was a lot of negative press a couple or more years ago about people who paid out large sums only to be told they would not get any increase and This is Money Online (Daily Mail) ran a campaign to help people try and get refunds and to publicise the situation. it was discussed on here at the time. Just found this - https://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/pensions/article-10927867/How-state-pension-Steve-Webb-launches-site-help.html#m6575lcenuvj9mlzzp

There has been mention on here of "either/or" accounts where the other person is not visible on the account except to the bank. From memory @chiang mai may have talked about this but I may be taking his name in vain. Try doing a search - and also not sure if you could use for Immigration purposes.

Transfer money from Thai bank to UK bank
topt replied to Negita43's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
There have been a few threads in the last year or so about people being able to transfer out. From memory it helps with some if you have the form that shows the initial transfer in of similar amounts. Try what @gamb00ler suggests above and/or go and call the help line of the relevant banks - and then go and ask in a "main" branch. If you say which banks some posters may be able to give specific advice. -
No I am looking also although I still have enough credit for a bit.
