  1. Was my thought when first reading the article. The original article on what it states it is based on is a little bit more nuanced - https://www.pattayamail.com/latestnews/news/thailands-dtv-game-changer-let-sleeping-dogs-lie-for-now-478512 PS - just Ignore the 10 fold $ increase exchange "typo" for the agent fees
  2. You determine it. According to one of the many vids from ExpatTax you can choose LIFO/FIFO or whatever works best for you - but you would only need to do that if audited or asked for proof of what you were filing. If you believe it to be non assessable (as pre 2024) then if you don't file they won't be asking unless they check up on you specifically. Which is when you need the paperwork and justifications. That is one take and others may argue differently and nobody really knows how it will play out.
  3. I have to confess I have not noticed any "vehemence" towards Thailand from the poster you replied to or others who supposedly have "a lot of money".... Perhaps you can give some examples? The 2 particular posters above have made some considerable effort to not be tax resident so that appears (in their case) to nullify your specific criticism? We all have our crosses to bear.......
  4. Unless you are selling land/property no CGT on non-residents.........and unless I read wrong no changes to those amounts?
  5. Start here ...... and stop being such a .................
  6. Everyone is entitled to their opinion...... You responded to a particular poster but your response is not particularly empathetic to those who chose to live here from a tax perspective as was and suddenly find themselves potentially having to pay substantially more due to a change in a 30 plus year old tax directive..... i'm all right Jack springs to mind......
  7. Why is that surprising considering it has little to do with the current topic..........shame on you
  8. Assesable depending on how much relative to TEDA......unless savings held prior to 01/01/2024 so already paid at that date or earned as a non tax resident since......
  9. Supposedly it is whether you are tax resident when the income is earned that is more relevant than whether you are resident when it is transferred. If you have good records of when you earned and can produce that if required. However whether you would be picked up on it probably depends on amounts transferred/frequency so you can roll the dice if that's your style......
  10. Based on what I have read I tend to agree but it is not crystal clear as has been previously mentioned in one or more threads. However the person who emoted a laugh at your comment should say why ........man up or shut up springs to mind...........
  11. Spell checker mistake was my first thought but could not come up with a suitable alternative. Possibly a mistake in the translation from French. It would be interesting to know. As mentioned I have queried it but expect to be fobbed off with some bland words when they eventually reply.
  12. Anybody aware of this before because I can't remember ever hearing it said?
  13. I wondered who else would pick up on that . I replied asking them what they actually meant as otherwise I may be an outlier as right handed.............. It will probably be another week before they reply if they even bother.
  14. Fortunately not - they have a monthly pay option but I pay annually.
  15. My premium is due for renewal in just over a months time. I queried the level of increase and have had back "canned" reasons for general levels of increase and have had to ask twice if it was because of moving into a higher age banding. Just received this reply today - only took 8 days for them to respond......... I am 65 and increase just seems too high to me as I doubt this will be a one off in the coming years. This was the general letter they sent - I have posted as may be of interest to others.
  16. Article was posted on September 8th and has been referred to before. Reading both articles the author has stated points that may or may not come to pass - bit like many of the opinions in these tax threads........
  17. May I ask from where - as seems almost cheap.......?
  18. What browser are you using?
  19. Possible temporary solution to the "admin" issues you mention. Are you a UK tax payer or have a NI number? If yes give the bank that - unless you have told them officially you now live in Thailand in which case they may not accept it. This won't make any difference to whether you pay tax or not to HMRC. In fact if you are receiving any interest on that bank account you theoretically are supposed to be declaring it to HMRC but that then leads us into the PA etc......... Same with the EU investment account. For many financial operations it just seems to be a box ticking exercise.
  20. Yes that was clear on the recent Expattax video and seemingly confirmed on the TRD website graphics. Money earnt but not remitted whilst tax resident becomes assessable if it is ever remitted in the future. PS - enjoy your vacation.
  21. What would be the point...... Many people may have a tax id (from reclaiming tax withholding on bank interest for example) but tax returns based on the changes are not due until January 2025 earliest.... Thanks anyway for the confirmation
  22. Replying to your own posts......one has to wonder why I pay taxes to the UK and have had to file for many years as do many others who have commented here. So not foreign at all to many. Being kind you don't appear to have followed much of the extensive discussions which have been ongoing for more than a year..........
  23. Didn't Chidchob have a recent meeting with TS during which he said he was against it? oh only a week or so ago -
  24. Why not buy your own router and get True to put their modem/router in bridge mode (if it can be done with that model)?
