and Tucker cozied up to the poisoner in chief, Putin. Fentanyl, cocaine are safe if used carefully..... novochock and polonium-210 are never safe. The anaesthetist gave me 100mcg of fentanyl the other day. I woke up as scheduled. -
Canada has much more restrictive political campaigning and financing laws. It effectively limits the impact of purchasing influence through contributions. I haven't lived there for decades so my knowledge of candidate selection is rather limited. I do know that portion of the political process is not so protracted or as rigged as the US system.

Nationwide transfer
gamb00ler replied to salavan's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
A google search should be your first source: Nationwide charges a SWIFT transfer fee of £20 for international payments The receiving end fees and exchange rates are determined by the Thai bank. Don't let Nationwide do the currency exchange. -
All the Good Mangoes Must Be in Macau?
gamb00ler replied to FriscoKid's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
AFAIK, you live in CM. This area is not a great fruit area. Oranges, longans, guava and rambutans are OK here and strawberries are occasionally excellent but mostly subpar. The best area for fruit is central Thailand... at least for my favorites mango, pineapple, mangosteen, durian and pomelo. -
All the Good Mangoes Must Be in Macau?
gamb00ler replied to FriscoKid's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
My wife's home town has the reputation as being the best source of mangos, particularly the mango species which is the best to be served with sticky rice and coconut cream. That's the only species I know by name: nam dok mai. Her hometown is in Chaochengsao province on the Bang Pakong river. There are many different species some of which are always eaten while still green and hard. Last visit to her region we ate an older variety of mango that has fallen out of favor so is hard to find now. The flesh was orange and more firm that most others. It seemed less sweet but with a stronger flavor. This year her sister sent us a box of them. The mangos from Northern Thailand cannot compare to those from central Thailand. -
Is your wife Thai? Your OP says you're both American but she could still hold a Thai passport. It seems much easier if she is. My Thai wife and I shipped a 20' container of household goods from US to Chiang Mai in 2020. We only paid duty on things that were not household goods... such as a 8' ladder, a box of tools and a bicycle. The value they assigned those items was quite low so the resulting duty was also. Some other items that I thought would be targeted were not... a second bicycle and golf clubs. We used a global logistics company to arrange all the transportation and customs clearance. The customs agent said it would be easiest if the shipment was in my wife's name and that she had not visited Thailand in the preceding 1 or 2 years (I don't remember the exact length of time). As far as the decision of shipping vs selling and replacing here..... that depends on the quality of goods you already have or want. It's easy and cheap to buy low quality replacements in Thailand.... but it's crazy expensive to buy top quality here. Technically Thai customs regulations allow foreigners to import household goods without duty, but our customs broker was more confident if shipment was in Thai wife's name. Our customs clearance and delivery was handled by Boonma. Here's link to their CM office: https://maps.app.goo.gl/i6Q7vMpGmKQyjzy57

I find it so hard to fathom why you so often and vividly display your ignorance of the world. I just have to use the only remaining yellow emoji.

but in reality, because of the higher labor force participation rate (65%) compared to the US (62%) ... 6% is not as bad as you make it out to be. You habitually overlook very relevant factors while searching for some way to tarnish those who don't agree with your myopic views.

The constitution says nothing about the quality of alternatives when they limit the president to two terms.

The user agreement for AN fully allows you to skip over any topic or post. There is absolutely no requirement that you read anything on here. Thankfully AN also offers the rest of us the option to ignore the constant whingers such as yourself. Find something else to obsess about. AN has managed to survive for decades without your obsessive guidance for decades before your arrival/resurrection on Feb. 6.

TTB Bank e-Passbook
gamb00ler replied to doctormann's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
I don't really understand how the virtual bank book works. But I'll explain what CM Immigration requested for documentation regarding my SCB EZ Savings account that has no book at all. When I opened the account, SCB did give me what looks like the front page of a bank book with my account details on it. I'm on retirement extension and I used an embassy letter for my last two renewals. Due to the rising Thai ฿ and an erroneous reduction in my pension benefits, I didn't meet the 800K threshold using my pensions for my most recent renewal. I was only about 30K ฿ short so I requested that Imm. use my bank balance of 100K ฿ to make up for the shortfall. I was surprised when they agreed. I already had a 6 month statement and letter from the bank. But, CM Imm. wanted a 12-month statement and a copy of the book cover given to me at account opening. Luckily I had resisted the temptation to just throw it out since it didn't really seem that useful. So, at least CM Imm. will grant extensions using Thai bank accounts that don't provide a bank book. -
Foreigners are "special" in that they have tax withheld from their bank interest. The Thai Revenue Department (TRD) will record the name of the account holder so that they can refund it if taxes are filed by them and their total taxable income is below the exemptions threshold. It is possible to have the banks stop the withholding (except for fixed deposit accounts) but it may be more trouble than it is worth. Thai bank account holders are not subject to tax withholding on their savings accounts....I'm not sure if they also don't have tax withheld on fixed deposit accounts.

ALL VACCINES WILL KILL YOU - The evidence is overwhelming
gamb00ler replied to Red Phoenix's topic in Covid/Vaccine
The rabies vaccine is a perfect example of vaccination efficacy. Infected victims always die if unvaccinated. It is an extreme situation that should enlighten even the weakest thinkers. -

Unvaccinated rabies victims will 100% of the time experience the ultimate truth. It's up to you. -
ALL VACCINES WILL KILL YOU - The evidence is overwhelming
gamb00ler replied to Red Phoenix's topic in Covid/Vaccine
When you're bitten by a potential rabies infected animal the recommended action is to get the rabies vaccine ASAP. It is the same preparation given to individuals that are at high risk of being bitten by potentially infected animals. You can call it whatever you want or think of it however you want, but it is the same material injected (inactive rabies virus). Often the infection status of the animal is unknown but the prudent path is to take the rabies vaccine. If you wait for rabies symptoms to appear you will not survive. As an extra precaution sometimes RIG (rabies immune globulin) is also given to give protection immediately as your body will take some time to produce those on its own. If the bite is from an infected animal and the victim insists that they don't want the vaccine, the odds that they will die are 100% if infected.
