  1. Yup^^^, diamond or carbide (if you don't want many holes) hole saw, lots of water and a steady hand.

Where can these be found, I have never noticed them and I haunt hardware stores like a jackal.

    I'm with you on that.

Perhaps they are available to those with transportation to go all over the place looking for the one shop that sells them in the district, but I'm not doing that on my bicycle.

Besides, why would I go and buy something like that for ONE hole?

Also, I'll bet you won't find them in the village shop in the remotest areas of Thailand.

Youd be surprised where you can find them. I got mine about 2 km past Pranburi heading South and the question really didnt say "where in the remotest part of Thailand can I find"

Ive seen them at Homepro Hua Hin also.

I find its best to take a photo with you on your phone to show them what you want which can be copied off the internet to your phone beforehand.

  2. I wouldnt worry too much what you use because its INSIDE so will not be assaulted by weather, Ive found you have to paint fast here as it dries darned quick and dont thin more than 10% with water, unlike Mr Thai who knows best and will add 50% water .

Use a well known brand Id go for Dulux, yep its expensive.

For wood years ago I used a lovely product called LIBERON FINISHING OIL actually applied by rag but many coats wire wooled with 1000 grade wool between coats and last coat liberon woodpolish .

Sorry MJP I think your doors look pants, patchy streaky, no offence.

  3. Lucky kids! The Thai language and alphabet is an informational prison for the Thai people. Knowledge is power and the government is effectively able to control knowledge solely because of the language barrier. Frankly, I suspect that the folks at the top who so zealously guard "culture" are really guarding their power and elite status.

"The Thai language and alphabet is an informational prison for the Thai people."

    Watch your mouth.

If you do not respect me, at least you respect our great king RamKhamhaeng the GREAT who inverted the Thai alphabet on his own.

    http://en.wikipedia....i/Ram_Khamhaeng

You are clearly a blind follower. Next time you reference a source to support your point, please read it thoroughly.

"Recent scholarship has cast doubt on his role, however, noting that much of the information relating to his rule may have been fabricated in the 19th century in order to legitimize the Siamese state in the face of colonial threats."

You are blind too, or perhaps you do not understand English.

"most Thai scholars still hold to the idea of the inscription's authenticity"

Doesnt mean its correct though does it? Some people think the moon is made of cheese.............I see no difference............everyone knows its made of milk.

Must be hard for Thais like yourself not to understand why us farangs dont roll over and soak up the brainwashing that we perceive here.

I dont mean this with any offence but it must be odd coming on a forum like this and seeing what you have been taught is not accepted by outsiders.

  4. Looks like a Tarantula 100% to me.......doubt it will kill the dog though

Here is a bit about them stating they are not so dangerous.

    http://courses.ttu.e...ntula/facts.htm

It's a small black Tarantula for sure. Not notable toxic. My problem is I have no vet available. Living in the sticks between Lamphun and Lampang.

IT could be not dangerous, it could be dangerous, but do you really want to take a chance?

Get in the car and get to the nearest Vet to have anti venom

    Better be safe than sorry

A bit of research before "rushing" out to waste money.

See his answer below..................... ermmmmmmm seems I woz right.

tarantulas arent that dangerous no human fatalities I read of ( yes I know it was a dog)

  5. Remember that the Air France Concorde was brought down by a small piece of debris on the runway that ruptured a fuel tank. Disintegrating runways are not a good thing.

This is exactly the reason why I don't buy French technology.

But sadly for Concorde the piece of junk was off an AMERICAN dc plane badly repaired.

Nowt wrong with Concorde and it was joint anglo french

  6. The one on the left is photoshopped, if you choose "her" you probably end up with the equivalent of the one on the right in Thai version

Blimey ....I did too!!! and I do have Brown Austin Allegro as well..............sorry only Brits will understand this last big

  7. Google ads (nothing to do with Thaivisa even though they are shown there) displays ads based on your search and browsing history. So now we know what you've been up to. thumbsup.gif

    .

Hmmmmmmmmmmm well it seems I am now interested in shagging and sheds in that case???

I think Google needs to improve its marketing skills.........

  8. Single friend in Bangkok and I helped him out w. his budget before he moved here 3 years ago:

    Rent(1 bed room near BTS/down town): 15000

    electricity/water/maid/tel/internet: 6000

    Health Insurance, meds, vitamins: 4000

    Transport(taxi,train,bus,moto) 4000

Groceries Incl. some import treats: 5000

Other Incl: gifts, visa, clothes, sport: 4000

    Entertainment: 6000

Total: 44.000 Baht/month before any flights(yearly to UK+maybe a trip elsewhere - so Estm.: another 6k/month when averaged out)

He has lived (fine) within that budget for the last 3 years - it includes clubbing and trips to beach Etc.

If he needed to save more for a couple of years he would look at reducing rent to 10k(new studio centrally located by BTS), dropping maid service, drop some import treats and reduce entertainment. Total savings about 10k/mth without TOO much pain he claims. Naturally travel would be reduced and the home leave to UK cut. That would have him around 34k/mth.

    Cheers!

30m2 and needs a maid?? oh hang on perhaps she doesnt clean eh?

  9. Just love the ads now in Thai Visa

where else can you get two ads like this side by side? I mean do you choose the sad ole slapper with glasses greasy hair ample thighs and tats or the one on the left??

Ok so I chose the glasses!!!!

  10. Apart from all the sex and money talk I have seen much more important differences in their belief that you can wash clothes better in an upright machine in cold water in 1/4 of the time a typical European machine. And a curious obsession with plastic storage boxes.

Too right, washing machines here are crap, never get my clothes clean..............well at least those awful upright things that leave half a ton of undissolved powder on your clothes etc ...................... sorry I digress

Hm see someone cant take a 3 holed joke then!!! Thai women have a better sense of humour

  11. Thai girls also kiss differently to English women.

They also often prefer to sit cross-legged, and can climb trees to pick fruit.

    I agree.

Sometimes, they appear to do some quite difficult stuff such as tree climbing in your example, but on the other hand they tend to be overly lazy.

That's impressive! I've only see those who know how to "climb" aboard a Taxi or know how to board a plane. Lazy that would be my ultimate dream, as everyone of them seems to be doing overtime and rush from one board meeting to the next. I must be doing something wrong.

Must be the tea and biscuits at the board meeting?biggrin.png

  12. You need to grow one of these Mr Blether then youll have a plentiful supply

    <deleted>....

    Is that thing for real...?

That looks amazing eh?.......where did you see that Travelmann?? smile.png

This is called Musa 1000 fingers. You can get seeds from it and grow it in Thailand.

This was in Singapore botanical gardens.

I still keep my nanas in the fridge when green and done see them going brown faster at all? NOTE WHEN GREEN

If you want the bananas to ripen quickly, store them at room temperature. Placing bananas in the refrigerator slows down the ripening process tremendously. According to Dole, refrigeration will turn the skin/peel brown faster but that the fruit will remain fresh longer than if stored at room temperature. See Related Links.

  13. I do find that banannas here tend to go off quickly - if they last more than a couple of days I am lucky. Any tips on how to make them last longer???

Buy em Green they are cheaper, stick them in the fridge and take out what you need each night before bed.

Alternatively take smaller bites...................theyll last longer clap2.gif

  14. I love thailand, I have been here for nearly 5 yrs, I have a thai wife half my age, I have honestly had no more bad experiences than I would have in other parts of the world, and am happier than I have ever been in my life, and prior to coming to Thailand my life was also wonderful

We make our own luck, look after your wife and her family, a long established principal in thailand and you are unlikely to be cheated upon, of course like all parts of the word there are some bad people, but look at where you meet them, so you get what you deserve

I would love Thai Visa to get rid of all members poting negative things, but then there would be so few postings

Remember there are many foreignors here who are only here as they have run out of places to go, and they only have thai visa as their love!!

I hear often of people here living on social security from thir home countries and if they declared honestly where they live they would get nothing

IF YOU DO NOT LIKE IT GO HOME

long live the King and wonderful Thailand

    Still in stage 1 then?

  15. There seems to be no trust here amongst many and everyone is after money. Want a plumber?? ask around and anyone who tells you where you can find one wants a bit of money off the plumber.

It seems many just cant recommend someone without wanting something out of it. I find it odd.

Even a friend of mine selling his farm was surprised when I found him a buyer and the sale went thru and I told him I didnt want anything. Later he tried to give me tickets for the tennis as a thank you which is fine ( again I didnt have them) but what I dont like is this you must give me 1-2-3% as commission even when just asking a passer by when looking for land to buy etc.

I dont really like Thailand for its PEOPLE/CULTURE.

I do like the countryside when they havent filled it full of rubbish that is.

I stay for my wife and she has a good job and as Im not working she supports me.
