Uh, here's a bulletin for you: the dog pictured is NOT a pit bull terrier. It's an American Bull Terrier, and nothing like a pit bull.

And for those that have bad thigns to say about Pit Bull Terriers check with Cesar Milan that has a PACK of em and no problems

Owners are the guilty parties in ALL cases of unruly dogs be it a Pit Bull, Rottweiler or Chiuanua unfortunatley the ignorant blame the dog breed and not the owner.

I guess way back when (caveman days) and also still in many african countries (today) a girl is considered marriage material and ready to have sex and give birth when she hits puberty and has her first period so from a Natural biological standpoint just as with any mammall the moment she has her first cycle she is capable of reproduction its only our view that it is not accepted in our society but in tribes in africa who live like they did thousands of years ago would lead us to beleive that ti was a common practice way back when.

Personally I think 25-30 is a good time to start a familly these days

I dont mind admitting I am a fairly regular visitor to LK road and have been for nigh on 5 years and it looks pretty much the same it did 5 years ago as for the description of the OP view of people that drink there I wonder if he looks down on people the same if they are drinking in The Wild Boar (no girlies) the Old Bell (no girlies) or another few bars that dont offer girlies but decent fellows such as myself often spend way more time in these bars than the girlie bars.

I will admit that the girls are a bit rough to say the least and there a slim pickings for the tourists but its still more fun hanging out there even if I am not in the market for whats on offer

I have NEVER seen a rat around the beer bars although I have seen hundreds when I head down to Mcdonalds after a night out so maybe they can clean the Night Bazarr which has a rat epidemic but I dont really care I kinda like looking at the Rats, in fact I even share Big Mac with them.

I ordered from The Sahara and I thought it was pretty good. In fact I ordered a few of the western items and something Middle Eastern, because I enjoy Middle Eastern food and have yet to find something really good in Chiang Mai.

I was amazed at how similar the burger was to The Duke's Burger. The meat wasn't fresh ground as we do at The Duke's but it was a decent, maybe Northern Farm burger patty. The bun resembled the old style buns that we used to make. The pickle was similar to the pickles at The Night Bazaar shop and even the large tomato and the fresh cut fries seemed familiar. All in all it reminded me of a mini-The Duke's burger at a mini price, slightly more than our 99 Baht burger with cheese.

The Caesar Salad dressing was very similar to The Duke's with stone ground mustard as the binder and a flavor. I have only once seen a restaurant use stone ground mustard in the Caesar dressing and that was from the restaurant I worked at in Hawaii where I got the recipe from. The croutons resembled the croutons the girls make at both The Duke's restaurants. They are not my croutons but I usually let them get away with this style because they are flavorful. The bread was slightly similar to The Duke's foccacia but was not aged dough.

So I asked my managers about a couple of recent cooks that have left our employment and sure enough one of the girls is cooking at The Sahara. She was a good cook and I was sorry to lose her but you can't keep them all forever. I have to say that and she is doing a good job and I thought the food was good except for the pizza. This particular girl never worked in the pizza station and the pizza I got was not great but it was only 99 Baht, a great deal. I love pizza, any pizza. She is probably not the lead cook for the Middle Eastern food but good cooks usually learn fast because most kitchen work is endless production.

What I thought the star of the show was was the Middle Eastern kebobs that I got. The yellow rice was fluffy, fresh and delightful and the pork on the kebobs were marinated and delicious. The spicy sauce and the dill sauce were good as well. The really great thing was the price, so cheap.

I'm am not sure why the restaurants in Chiang Mai feel they have to cater to everyone from westerners to Thais to someone wanting the exotic. Clearly they feel as if they are leaving out a portion of their business by not including it all. While this might have been the case 20 years ago, today in Chiang Mai a restaurant can exist on it's singularly delicious and defining cuisine.

On another note for anyone wanting another taste of The Duke's, the Rider's Corner at the north end of Moon Muang has another good cook that is the lead there that used to be cooking at The Duke's. Philip is the owner there and it is a great place to hang out and have a couple of beers.

So what your basically saying is The Dukes takes full credit for the Saharas good food LOL and if its not a joke, at least you visited there to see what all the fuss was about and based on this thread you obviously need to either get her Back or pay some serious attention to your own kitchen to bring the food up to par, as it obvious from this thread that the Dukes is starting to lose its shine with the ex pat crowd.

IMHO nothing was similar to the Dukes food cause, I actually enjoyed the food at Sahara and will be going back

unfortunately it does not look good and you mention or indicate you have accounts in thailand and if so i would be emptying those real quick and ensure she has NO access to any Aussie accounts at all, as for someone saying she can take you for half in Oz once you stop supporting her she wont have a dime to fly to Oz because I am sure she has spent most the money or familly members have relieved her of it.

Sure. Where do you think the real handbags are made? But, you REALLY need to know your handbags and how much they sell for everywhere. You would then need to inspect each and every handbag. Very often there is some minute flaw that is not acceptible in a high class fashion shop in New York or Paris. But, it's hardly noticeable and certainly useable. Those bags are sold off to the street dealers who try to get what they can for the bags. You are going to have to do your own shopping and really know what you are looking for. I've seen those shops in every tourist destination in Thailand. I know a few people who make a small living by shopping in Thailand for specific products and take them back to the US for sale in their own shops. They pay for their Thai holiday that way.

Ian is right although I use a US company to get my designer goods shipped normally they are older styles like last years collection but the prices are ridiculously low and i have yet to find a fault in any of the products I have purchased but Ian is right you need to know what you are buying.

I used to do it and as long as you get a really good Juicer with stainless steel blades and a very strong motor (I paid $180 US for the one I had) its a piece of cake you just throw in whatever skin and all and it juices the crap out of it all you have left is the pulp and skin and a massive amount of juice really really easy. Its amazing how much fruit and veggies to get through though LOL

A quick search online for juice recipes will provide some fantastic tastes and also be preapred to lose masses of weight

I was also filming with a small video device in a waterproof bag. I was holding it in an elevated fashion, so that when I got sprayed with water, it would still stay relatively dry. Annoying **Europeans** kept going out of their way to NOT spray me, but instead spray directly at the video camera in my hand.

There are NO metered taxi's in Chiang Mai. All taxi companies charge a flat rate fee of about 150 Baht for most destinations within the city. There are several taxi companies here now.

Really? I must be going crazy. I'm sure they've turned the meter on for me when traveling from the airport to my house as they couldn't figure out where the hell I lived so didn't want to quote a fare up front. Airport to near Big C Don Chan is 80 Baht on the meter, plus the airport charge, so 150B all in including tip. Funny that!

I don't trust anyone to get me from house to airport, I'm not missing a flight because some taxi driver got a better offer of a fare, or couldn't be bothered to get out of bed. Getting to the airport is what neighbours are for.

I have nver been able to get a meter taxi to actually put the meter on as the poster said its a set fare 99.999% of the time

Problem is now you have a criminal record, if you leave Thailand will they let you back in? Just a question, cause in one of the previous post's about someone else that got into trouble, they were not allowed back.

really have no idea but from day one I never ever showed them my passport and they did not ask for it so not sure if its all interlinked we will wait and see what happens if I leave no plans as yet but will be prepared if i leave.

What a day yesterday was

Ok got to the police station at 9am waiting to go to the court (I thought) I was told it would first go to the public prosecuters office to see if they would just treat it as a petty charge and if so I get a small fine and thats it anyway about 10am they marched out 3 thais in shackles and chains past everyone and loaded them into the back of a pick up and told me to follow that truck to the court which I did with the missus to a place just pas the bus station court house. Once I got there had the missus call the guy and there seemed to be some confusion LOL turns out I was at the wrong place and I was supposed to be in on the other side of town at another place. he got pissy with the wife on the phone becasue HE SENT us to the wrong place.

So off we go to the other place 25 minutes away, finally get to the place and wait by now its 11.30 wait and then signalled to sign a book which I did then wait again then told GO BACK to the first place (courthouse) after lunch.

So after lunch I go back and call him again and told to go down to the dungeons cells and wait (pretty much had no idea what was going on all day) so went down into the belly of the court house and sat and waited watching thais bring in food and visit the thais in the holding cells which were in plain site with some thais moving around freely while others were in shackles and chains and one thai guy had a ridiculous shackels on the chain must of been half Inch thick something that looked like it would hold a couple of tons really ridiculous and overkill and mediaevil.

After about 30 minutes my name was called and i thought I was going to be put into the holding cells as others waiting were put in there but thankfully not.

My wife talked to a thai guy next to me that was up for drinking and driving and he was there because he blew into the breathelizer and was told if the marker goes to here you pay 500 baht on the spot fine if to here 1000, he said his went off the chart LOL so he had to come here. anyway they took me into the office which has direct view into the holding cell and these cops looked like the jailers who look after those as they are waiting to be called into court (not nice guys by the looks of it ) and while they did not say a word to me while waiting my wife and I were the subject fo the conversation as they disrespected my wife while I was waiting (she did not tell me till we were out of there) she does not look thai she looks half indian so many times thais dont think she is from thailand so they were speaking freely about if one would do her and his response if she wanted it he would do it and how beautiful she is, I knew something was going on as I asked the missus and she said tell you later, my wife typically just kept quiet and did exactly that told me later must not of been nice in an office full of thai people listening.

Sittin in that office waiting room I noticed each guy had his own desk and the usual budda king pictures however I also counted at least 6 pictures of Mr Thaksin on each of there boards very clear that office is big Thaksin fans.

After about another 40 minutes I was taken to the court which looked like it was closed so sat down and was then told my sentance had already been given and was 12 months Imprisoned (my heart dropped) then he said suspended (phew) and 10,000 baht fine

Ridiculous just for calling someone a f bitch and telling the truth

Got done around 3.30pm

Anyway if I had to do it over I would of probably done the same but took the time to write my own statement and had it translated as I think I got screwed in the statement and they wrote it u not indicating she was a bargirl as they cannot do that and I was told in the morning to raise my hand and tell the judge that she was a bar lady in my statement but I never got the chance.

either way its over now but had really left a bad taste in my mouth and seeing the reality of what can happen for something so trivial is quite surreal and I am questioning if I really want to stay in thailand after that, once you see it and experience it you realize just how quickly things can go wrong here and like everyone says I found out just how farangs are treated but thank god I was not thai cause they get it way way worse.

The alternative I was told if I had pleased not guilty and it had gone to trial I would of definately gone to prison if I had lost for the 12 months.

So guys just a recap thai translation on Google which they use for official translation for fk bitch is the following fking means having sex and Bitch means prostitute so mind your P's and Q's

So now I am on 12 months probation and they made it very clear if i do anything wrong I will go right to jail.

Dont worry about it , just wait and see if you get a court date. I cannot see the police doing anything with this as its a private matter and not criminal act. If you go to court , plead your case yourself, be polite and go well dressed. Once the story comes out , as others have said, the judge will throw it out and I wouldnt be suprised if it even got that far. The judge woul dnot be happy with the police for wasting his time or for having a bar girl trying to rip off the foreigner. STAND YOUR GROUND. Good luck.

I have a court date its 9am tommorow morning and it is actually a criminal act which I am being procecuted for, prior to admitting it I asked what was the penalty and was told most likely a fine up to a max 20,000 baht and if any jail time it would be suspended.

In the only 2 cases I could find similar one was 500 baht fine and one was 1000 baht fine and no jailtime and if i get any of those I will be happy but stranger things have happened in LOS

Many have said I should of just paid the 5000 but I just could not reward behaviour like that with money so she thinks she can do it to the next guy that comes along yes I am a bit stubborn but I did apologise 3 times and try to make it right ony for her to increase the demand to 15,000

We will see in the morning I am still trying to get my statement translated in thai so at least he can read half a page of the exact thing that happened and any normal person would see its TOTALLY RIDICULOUS
