Actually it is nearly every bank....right now its SCB, BKK Bank, Kasikorn, Krungsri, Krungthai. I went to today to one of my banks..phone and passport in hand....quite a simple process. Will do 2-3 more banks tomorrow.

As of last Friday most banks were showing 1.25-1.35 % pa on a Fixed deposit. That is for 12 mths. 24 mths is a tad higher. Hope that helps.

I don't want to get into an argument on this but you have interpreted my post incorrectly. I mentioned nothing about overstay or implied it. My post informed the OP that he would be in the 30 day consideration period on his marriage extension when he went to obtain his new WP, and that he might want to check up on that point before going to renew. So you still have time to correct your mistake..thank you.

The only problem you may have is that you will have a 30 days consideration period on your 'Marriage extension", so on May 8th you do not actually have a valid extension. This could be problematic, so some research is needed i believe.

Wrong info.. Once it lapses, you will not be charged, unless you actually go to a branch and physically request a new card. Basically no valid card, no charges.

In your situation you don't have to do an actual physical driving test, but you must do the normal tests (which would include colour test, brake reaction test, plus looking at a road safety video). This would take about 2 hours depending on how busy they are. You would initially get a 2 year licence...cost 500 baht). There are a few agents in Pattaya that will walk you through the process (not to costly) if thats what you prefer. You are obviously not in Thailand yet, so look through the past threads on this subject of agents etc.

Unfortunately because your ATM card is blocked and you don't have online banking, there is no other way to get your money out of the account, or transfer it to an overseas account.

Yes--when you return they will stamp you only up to the extension expiry date.
