  1. Crying Russian demon babies! Too much!!
  2. Fighting muay Thai. Want to do it again but a bit old
  3. I always thought they were just installed to be a barrier between the owner. If you look at any news where a bar was shutdown or raided by police or something it's always the manager that seems to cop it
  4. Beggars everywhere in Bangkok. What's different about these ones... Ohhh Jordanian. Can't have that.
  5. What would you propose to fix all the fisherman and sailors dumping garbage at sea and washing up from miles away? I think from another report the municipality provided the trucks and took it all away on its return to Phuket
  6. Normally police don't need much incentive to call something a suicide. Just a month ago a man committed "suicide" by repeatedly stabbing himself in the neck in a hotel room in Bang Tao. Here we have bag over the head and a suicide note and they suspect murder. Amazing Thailand.
  7. Some closure to this issue. I ended up getting the account unlocked 7 or 8 days after the face to face KYC. There was lots of unprofessional chat from them saying it is unlocked already or it will be unlocked tomorrow or let us check with manager. Different people giving different answers. Not sure if it was the threat of legal action or contact with the Securities and Exchange Commision that swayed them in the end. Satang has now changed their name to Orbix after Kasikorn bought them it seems. I will note that Satang support clearly said "Unfortunately, registration of foreign customers are not currently available". There is also a announcement somewhere deep in the website that states services unavailable for foriegners. However, when you go to the new Orbix page it is in English and welcoming so my guess is they will probably let you register and get some funds in the account then turn into the exchange from hell again once you want to get your money out. I would stay well clear of any Thai exchange.
  8. Hells Angels Mongols Outlaws Rebels Mongrel Mob Bandidos And.... "Waterless Trip" Striking fear into the hearts of their enemies.
  9. I hated it. My impression was.. Similar to Thailand in some ways except that I don't understand the language at all or how to get around from A to B without looking at a map every 5 minutes. The people seemed more peaceful and less unstable. Not like they're gonna lose it any second or have some underlying hatred or thoughts in their head. Less interested in violence. Sick as fighting chickens or boxing or weapons everywhere. Less drugs maybe? Not sure but the laws are harsh. Awkward traffic. It's busy and flow seemed not as good and open as Thailand. They toot more than any country I've been too. Honestly it seemed like they toot at nothing or toot at you because you're a westerner walking. Chicks not as pretty. Not as much choice as a consumer for quality goods like food. Particularly pork and premium products. Importing stuff is harder than Thailand with more tax and more corruption. In my experience the type of foreign expat there is more annoying. Either drunk bogan Aussies or vegan yogi types that like to sip artisan almond lattes and talk about wellness and their last enema. The cafe scene is a bit more advanced. Seemed to be more litter. Different scams. I never saw the drop money while changing it scam in Thailand. Beaches not as nice (that I saw). Incredibly windy at times. So rough seas. Good surfing if you're into it. I think much of the reason I didn't like it was simply because I felt out of my comfort zone and didn't know anything. Where in Thailand I know exactly what is happening around me and how to function as a member of society. If I had visited Bali first instead of Thailand all those years ago things could quite easily be opposite and I might have fallen in love with Bali instead of Thailand. As many people do.
  10. You're getting phased out or forced to improve your behaviour by a simple app. Karma has arrived. It's lovely to watch.
  11. This article reads like when a Thai tries to tell you something but in a long round about way because they can't just say what they mean.
  12. Register with who exactly? The amphoe office? Is it necessary to register it?
  13. Same in Australia. It comes down to the driver not the owner. Except that the onus is on the owner to pass the demerit points and find to who was driving. That's a bit complicated for a Thai I imagine. Also they would have to do extra work and enforce. The crossing right in front of the Pattaya station is a shining beacon of the ineffectiveness of Thai police to enforce traffic law. Nobody must have told them the amount of revenue they are missing out on. No longer would their police box need to be sponsored by burger king or shark. Aussie coppers are laughing all the way to the bank
  14. Maybe I'm wrong but it's my understanding that for DNA testing even Bangkok hospitals will send their samples to mahidol for testing. If I were you I would first contact a lab such as mlab in Pattaya or andalab in Phuket. That will probably be over their heads. Then I'd try mahidol directly. They took about a month to do my DNA testing. However, mine needed to be done for medical reasons and was with a reference from BKK hospital. Not sure how you would go with your request.
  15. Den janlaphan at eagle gym is a former WBC world champ and his boxing is phenomenal. Trained here over a year and enjoyed it. Price is reasonable and there was a few in similar age to you https://maps.app.goo.gl/tv2XhiBqzac9a4kY7
  16. I would never rent a condo from someone who doesn't provide a copy of their id card... Let alone a name. That's insane and incredibly stupid.
  17. I'd be careful using wishbeer. I have the same issue except I like nice bourbons and they're very hard to find in your average shops. I made a selection on wishbeer of about 10,000 baht of nice whiskies. Soon after I got an email saying exactly "Thank you for your order. As we don't have all the Spirits available in stock. It take 3-5 working days to re-order. We will update you again when we got the information from supplier. Would that be ok for you?" I had to leave Thailand to travel in a couple of weeks so I said I was concerned it's not enough time. They replied exactly "We have followed up with the supplier and they keep postponing the delivery date" It turned into a drama. Communication was crap. 1 reply email from them took 1-2 days each. Tried calling but literally nobody picks up the phone ever. So I cancelled and they say ok the money has been refunded. Except it wasn't. I ended up calling the bank and SCB were very diligent in chasing it up and getting the money refunded. I was very impressed with SCB. I would never use wishbeer again. I should add there was nothing during checkout to say anything was out of stock. There is another place that sells top whiskies called "the wine Merchant" but I find they're way way overpriced selling some bottles 30000+ that are maybe worth 10000. So I just gave up getting good whiskeys in the end. I always is through duty free and grab something interesting from there instead
  18. This was my one as well. I was at a bar drinking cocktails a couple of months ago. They had put a word peice of grey meringue on the top. The 3 girls all wanted to try it. One commented it was like "semen". There was background music and a lot happening so I just smiled and said yea. Then in my brain I thought, no I really need to get to the bottom of this. So I asked "it's like what"? Semen! It took 3 times for me to realise she was saying cement but leaving the t off. I immediately knew I had discovered a new favourite word to get Thais to say. Old favourite was Ralph. There's a good clip on this topic I'll try find.
  19. But it's ok for every reggae bar in patong and the surrounding area to sell as many as they like? That's different!
  20. A bit weird your story but one thing I would say is to approach immigration at Melbourne on arrival as a couple. Not separately. Last time I went with my ex wife we weren't sure if you could do that and she went first with me standing behind her in the queue. At Melbourne airport. They started grilling her. Her English wasn't great and she looked back at me for help. They called me over and it was all good. They said next time to just come to the counter together.
  21. I used to go to mlab. It's next door to that Tony's gym thing on the corner somewhere. There's also a couple of labs in naklua but not as good
