Phuket netizens slam half-naked foreign man on red baht bus
sikishrory replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
As I read this my hallway is lit up with screaming russians and their kids having some sort of domestic issue slamming their door so hard it is shaking my door. When is this bubble of some fake tourist utopia going to burst? -
Chaos on Pattaya Beach: Drunk tourists fuel brawls in hotspot
sikishrory replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
Chuck them in a ring if they want to fight. Give them a safer space to bash the f out of eachother. For all the thai "security" belting people to within an inch of their life, send them to the army in the south. Russians deport. If they want to fight there is plenty of opportunity on their borders. -
Polish man arrested for spanking Thai woman’s bottom (video)
sikishrory replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Deplorable behaviour of a sex pest. That aside the way the police handle this visit is dishonest and shady. Maybe the light blurring of the suspects face means they can do as they wish with the footage. Sex pest: "What's with all the cameras?" Cop: "Oh it's a PDPA act in Thailand. It needs to be recorded that nobody is harming you". Ironically PDPA is Personal Data Protection Act. According to chatgpt: "The police do not need to record by law, but they may choose to do so within legal bounds. If you are uncomfortable, you can object, but the police may continue if they justify it as necessary for public interest or their protection. Consulting a legal professional is advisable if such situations arise." Lawful Purpose and Use: Recordings made by police must be used strictly for the stated purpose (e.g., ensuring transparency during an investigation or as evidence in court). If the footage is shared publicly without valid legal justification, it breaches the principle of purpose limitation under the PDPA. Consent for Disclosure: Under the PDPA, disclosing personal data to third parties (e.g., news outlets) generally requires the consent of the individual involved, unless specific legal exceptions apply. Breach of Privacy: If the footage is leaked or shared without consent, it constitutes a misuse of personal data, potentially leading to legal repercussions for the responsible party (e.g., the police department or an individual officer). Seems to be the modus operandi for this division of the police. Film it and sell it to news outlets. Entered twice on it. Just 1 week apart. Once in BKK once in Phuket. No issue whatsoever however I think it's a good idea to travel with the required documents and then some. A guy at the next counter also had evisa (saw the QR) and was getting asked for proof of his accomodation and the works by the looks. Could've been Tourist visa or DTV. Either way be prepared.

Phuket tourists smash wheel lock with rock, sparking outrage - video

Where are the no parking markings? The whole chaining bike things is weird. Where I come from people would just cut them and be on their way. A paper ticket to the registration owner is more effiecient. -

According to this you get a permit and then proceed through the red declaration channel on arrival. Everyone above is saying they just enter and never get stopped. I have also never been stopped in 14 years. Just once recently for some reason a lady looked up from her phone as I was exiting and told me to scan my bag. Once in 14 years. I have a family member who needs to bring a weeks supply of prescribed Methadone in soon. Knowing what Thai bureaucracy is like I really wonder if going down through the red declaration channel with the permit is going to cause more issues for him than getting a permit and going through the green channel. If that medication gets confiscated his holiday is effectively over and he may as well stay in the airport and fly straight back. Another thing not mentioned here is the conundrum of booking a holiday with no certainty of if you can get issued this medicine whilst in Thailand. Methadone is only prescribed in 1 week supplies. This means the travellers holiday is limited to 1 week unless they can get another weeks supply whilst in Thailand. I have contacted both Bumrungrad and BKK Hospital Phuket to try and organise a pre-approval for this as it is pretty hard to book flights / rooms without knowing. They both said a consultation is needed with the psychiatrist to decide whether it can be prescribed. Both are listed on FDA website as recommended hospitals for getting narcotics yet neither do pre-approvals so any traveller in this situation has no certainty whatsoever when booking their holiday.

I enquired about a condo at Layan Green Park a couple of years ago. Glad I decided against it. Reasons were a company capital of only 4 million baht. This is publically available information you can find with a 2 minute google search. This means that if there is an issue you cannot sue the company to get your money back as they have no money. Also you are only allowed to use the condominium during certain periods and there was no opt out available for the in-house rental pool system. Freehold not available. Therefore you are buying it purely for an investment and nothing about it is transperant.

Phuket Airport tourist cries fowl over 3,000 baht Subway sarnies
sikishrory replied to snoop1130's topic in Phuket News
That's the thing with subway you look at the board and say I want that and it has a price. Then they ask you what you want in it? That doesn't actually make sense. Good on her for standing up for herself. 6 offcials who can't speak English enforcing payment of a sandwich? All the constant media rubbish of "smart zones" and flower opportunities, and you have no tourist police in the airport?? Airport vendors need some scrutiny every now and then. Everyone in there is taking the piss. Bottled water in phuket international is minimum 100-120 baht. In domestic it is normally 30. The pharmacy there is selling simple little things like a sachet of gaviscon only stuck together in packs of 10 for over 200 baht. "I just need one". "No mister cannot".- 160 replies

Tourists Detained After Vaping Mid-Air on Nok Air Flight
sikishrory replied to Georgealbert's topic in Phuket News
Losers yes but, "Disregarded" the safety demonstration. They are not sitting in an exit row where you are legally obligated to acknowledge your duty. So this can only mean they did not look at it. It appears from the story this was also filmed lol. Get a life aptly named "Muean kid". -
This is the problem with Thailand. This big code of silence thing throughout all levels of society. It will change one day but needs to happen from the top down starting with 112.

I just scanned through quickly. Can't be bothered reading all. Pork loin is not really the best cut for roasting it's very lean and gets dry quickly if you cook it just a bit too much. I have cooked iberico pork ribs which is the loin with the bone attached but i cook them med-well. Pork leg or collar-butt would be more flavorful and less dry for roasting.

How many shops do you go to per day that force you to provide an email for a small, quick purchase < 400฿ ? I draw the line there. Others can draw it elsewhere. I couldn't care less. Hard to stop your private data being traded online completely but you can do your best to minimise it. There's a load of other reviewers on Google that also don't agree with the policy. As for spite nose. It's fine and still has skin.

Went in to buy a cheap resistance band in Phuket. "Can we have your email sir" = no "Sorry sir this store is members only" = ok bye. My short lived experience with this shop. Ironically ordered same decathlon bands from shopee or lazada without the forced email request.

Good question. You can't send any money out while you're alive without a work permit or the correct documents. I am interested to know how this works when dead too. I hate the thought of my family having to take weeks of work to deal with bureaucracy in Thailand. The mention of providing documents such as FET seems to be a good idea and something I had not considered preparing for my family.

Foreign men attack Phuket taxi driver over fare dispute - video
sikishrory replied to snoop1130's topic in Phuket News
Both sides are in the wrong. Entitled passengers should have had the cash or not got in the cab. This goes both way though. The amount of times I have got a taxi that said "sorry I don't have change" is basically a scam in itself. Taxi guy should have mentioned there was a further fee. I doubt they struck him because he was being overly polite. Argument escalated. Also never seen a Bolt metered taxi. Don't they require different plates as well. There seems to be a real us vs them vibe in the media in the last few years. Magnified by social media. -

Russian man arrested for rampage and knife attack at Phuket hotel
sikishrory replied to snoop1130's topic in Phuket News
What visas are these guys on now? Do they still get the special longer tourist visas than lots of others? I noticed in a DTV podcast the other day they are not in the top 5 nationalities receiving it. They are everywhere and lots are staying long term. It's amazing what Thais will put up with for ฿.- 89 replies
