Paul Rodgers, what a voice. A nice version by Elkie Brooks -
You're sounding like Trump, deluded and deranged. Should Boris ask the faithful to storm Parliament? For the hundredth time, the Tories lost safe seats because traditional Conservative supporters couldn't stomach the lies of Boris anymore. A leader has to be seen to lead by example but Johnson's flagrant disregard of Covid rules demonstrated to a large part of the Tory base how morally corrupt he is. He was deposed by his own party and Cabinet..

Oh dear, Liz is forced to an abrupt U-turn after suggesting pay for civil servants should be related to the area they live in, in other words, pay those outside London less for doing exactly the same job. Liz levelling down not up! The Iron Lady, Liz's heroine, was not for turning because she was stubborn, not accepting the unfair premise of the Poll Tax, however I fear Liz will be remembered as the Lady who turned, a puppet pirouetting in accordance with her financial backers.

Back in the early 70s, as latter day hippies, cannabis was de-rigueur in our student lives. Games of chess could take days, endless moves seemed feasible and had to be 'thought' through Watching an insect on the wall was fascinating, its shape, movement, background was all a matter of interest. Sensory perceptions were intensified, heightened which was fine when with friends but could be scary or ludicrous when with strangers. I remember walking through the streets of Clifton, the rich area of Bristol, and being struck by the layers of make-up, dyed coiffured hair of the elderly ladies shopping. They looked like clowns. It was impossible not to burst out laughing A good drug in the right circumstances but I worry about its effects on Thai youth, especially the males. Many are lazy, spoilt by their mothers, open distribution of cannabis will only exacerbate this, spending their days in hammocks will become the norm. Legalise cannabis for the over 65s only!

Loiner is exhibiting the same symptoms as the loyal Trump supporters, namely blind faith/love in a compulsive liar, narcissist. There is one difference however, Loiner is English, and thus has cynicism and irony in his DNA. He knows deep down Boris is a fake, indifferent to the travails of the working man. As the UK sinks further and further into economic decline, Johnson's oven ready deal will inevitably be shown to be the poison it is.

Great to see new music lovers on the thread. Tippers will be happy when he gets time off work to check out. But what happened to Stalingrad? Hopefully he'll return with a new moniker-Kiev... -
i have an irrigation system so watering is no problem. Our soil is good in parts so I'll give it a whirl for 10 or 15 plants first of all. Excellent rain right now Owl after a week's abstinence. The same your way?

Turkey still hasn't joined the EU. Fear mongering from Brexiteers. Merkel's millions came from Syria, nothing to do with the EU. How long could EU members claim benefits in the UK prior Brexit? Surely not indefinitely. The sky has fallen in. The economy's down the drain, inflation is rampant, gas fuel bills are insane. Of the Big 6 energy companies, only British Gas remains under British ownership. EDF is predominantly owned by the French government, German company E. ON Energie AG own E. On and Npower, and Scottish Power is owned by Spanish based Iberdrola. The record profits such as recorded by EDF for example, are all going to France which has a cap on gas price increases of 4% a year. Well done Thatcher, you fool!

Thanks for reminding me about the market, Owl. Haven't been for a while but I'll give it a try next week. Got to disagree about durian. Absolute ecstasy when you get a perfectly ripe morn thong in my view. It reaches those parts other fruits can't reach, to paraphrase a 70s beer advert for Carling Black Label, if I remember correctly. No 2 and 3, I'd place lychee and mangosteen. A brother-in-law's brother moved to Chumpon about 30 years ago. Started planting durian and coffee plants. Worth a fortune now. The brother-in-law was willing to make the move but his wife wouldn't go. There's no place like home/Issan.

Hillbilly logic-' if you hadn't come to this country, the accident would never have happened.' The EU is doing fine, The UK is hurting because it's now under Third Country rules 'But we're exceptional,' the Brexiteers wail. 'We won the war, you can't treat us like this, we're better than you ' Foolish Little Englanders on the wrong side of history

I was planning on planting 30 durian saplings this weekend. The nursery, about 15 km from Ban Dung on the main Udon road, has reasonably sized saplings for 350 baht each. But they've grown under the black sunscreen canopies and I'm not sure they'd survive this sun without that protection. Mine would be scattered about between various other trees so I can't be bothered to put up canopies individually I might try 10 first and see how they get on.
