    Thai beef

As long as it's minced, you might have a chance to chew it... Unfortunately, there are still difference enough between imported quality meat and Thai produced beef to pay the price difference; however Thai Angus meat is however becoming a fair option to my experience...????
  4. Move Forward Party – which is likely to form the next government – said in their campaign that they would allow sex-toys. So the police better better take good care of them, perhaps they will have to be returned...
  5. It's depending of where you stay in Thailand, as the climate and rainy season are different in different areas. If you use Wikipedia in English and find your province or location, you will for most areas find a table with climate, including the rainy months. The few examples below shows you the difference, like Phuket and Samui close to each other but with different rainy seasons due to south-western monsoon at Phuket and north-eastern monsoon on Samui and her sisters...
  6. Wind from north or south, depending of weather and burning season. Smoke all the way from Indonesia can in worst case scenarios be moved up to Samui and her sisters, like it happened in 2015... –where you hardly could see 2.5 kilometers from the middle to the end of Maenam Bay for a few days... This is what it normally looks like (also 2015)...
  7. It's common knowledge: Stay away from drugs and people taking drugs when in Thailand, so you are not in the wrong place at the wrong time.
  8. I've been doing mine online, you state your last entry-date in the online-version.
  9. I installed one on my rooftop when building my house in 2009-2010. Works great...???? Whens it's really hot – like now – the water is close to perfect coffee-water temperature...???? However, when it's cloudy and cold the water is not hot, but might still be lukewarm. You would need hot-water-pipes –normally the green insulated water pipes – to distribute the water from the solar heater. If you install on the roof your tank might be places in the attic. In that case you'll need a circulation pump. Don't use a normal pump, it need to be a pump designed for hot water. I use a Danish brand "Grundfoss" hot-water circulation-pump – we use them in my Danish home country for water-circulation in central heating systems – they are available in Thailand and can sometimes also be found online at Lazada or Shopee. They almost lasts for ever. A 30 watt pump will do it, even when running on lowest of three speeds... Some water-tanks comes with a back-up electric heater in case when not enough heat from the Sun. Mind you, that the hot water storage-tank might be 200 liters, so not cheap to keep it warm or hot by electric heating during cold periods. I distribute the hot water from the central tank in insulated hot water pipes and have a local flow-through water 3.5kW heater in each bathroom to boost during cloudy cooler season, instead of using the central tank's heater. The local flow-heaters only need to be heating almost at minimum. During warm sunny periods the mains can be switches off for water heaters; their inter 0.5L or less storage tanks is not a problem for fast hot water in the tap, but of course depending of the distance from your solar water heater's storage tank to the outlet...????
  10. You just plug you normal (modern) phone into a normal phone plug on the modem, it works just like a good old-fashioned land-line phone. Same-same, but different: The "different" is that your line is digitalized little earlier than before. I've been using IP-phone for 20 years. I just took my IP-phone-modem and telephone with me to Thailand in 2006 and plugged it into an RJ45 internet line. I still have my same old telephone number from my Scandinavian home-country and make calls for local home-country tariff, just like I was calling from my previous home...

  13. So what do you suggest? "Travel insurance is a must and knowing the conditions is also a must."
  14. Very, very sad, but yet another story about fundraising and something is missing in the article about insurance and cover – or the insurance is missing. Travel insurance is a must and knowing the conditions is also a must.
  15. You need 800k baht in your bank account two month before your application, and three month after your extended stay is granted. Thereafter the account cannot go below 400k baht until two month before your next application for extended stay, by which time the bank account needs to be topped up to 800k baht again. I've been using the deposit method for extension of stay based on retirement since 2006. I also have Bangkok Bank, but in periods I used others for slightly higher interest, also SCB. My method and advice is to use a separate account for the extension-of-stay deposit, so it is easy and clear for the immigration officer to check the funds and balance. I also show my daily expenses account to where I move my retirement living expenses funds from abroad and withdraw money. If you can afford the keep 800k baht permanently in the bank – and thereby don't get nightmares about topping the funds up – then a 12-month fixed account gives the best interest. That's what I use and once a year I withdraw the interest, so there is always a clean 800k baht balance...
  16. Be present when exorcism was performed by a monk in a temple...
  17. Your school should be able to inform you about legality of work permit for home teaching, it's quite often done, also by foreign teachers. In principle all income is taxable and when looking at the income tax rate in percent in the lower figures it's between 5% and 10%, so not worth avoiding with risk of future problems (said by a person coming from a country where the lowest income tax rate from work is 46%...)...????
  18. No, but if you wish to extend next year you might not be able to do it, as your balance has gone under the 800k baht within the three month period. However, that might not be actual in your case when moving permanently.
  19. Have you read the article..? "According to the Thai news outlet Channel 3 Plus, authorities did not find evidence of marijuana use when drug-testing Antonio. When Antonio’s urine was purple, police brought him to a hospital for another examination, and found that there was a narcotic substance in his body. Police then handed Antonio to investigators on allegations of using a type 1 drug (ice)."
  20. Compared to the amount of people attending the Full Moon parties and young people dying from drugs elsewhere, this case is not special; however, very sad for the family.
  21. It's been in the news here on ASEAN NOW, so you can try to search it; I don't store links of everything I read, I still got a pretty fair memory installed...????
  22. Legally you are not married, but Thailand has begun to view unregistered marriage as what you call "Life partners". There has been a few cases mentioned in the media, where the couple has been viewed as married. In that case, everything that was not separate property before a marriage is viewed as common property – including whatever funds you have brought in from abroad, if you cannot prove they were legal savings before the village marriage – shall be divided with 50 percent to each part. However, inheritance received during a marriage is after Thai law separate property.
