  2. It's a Ford car, as Ford has offered to buy the car back. Ford states that vthe problems are caused by "the air-purifier machine independently installed by the owner affects the car's computer system." Source, Khaosod English via Facebook, link HERE.
  3. Probably not, as the virus mutates, just like we still haven't reached herd immunity for cold and flu...
  4. A Westerner can have a will certified by a notary at the local amphor district office and it can be kept on record there, or you can bring it home. A last will can be legal even it's not signed in front of a notar - but preferably signed in front of two witnesses - and is also legal if not kept on record by the district office. You can write the will in your own language, but it needs to be translated to Thai if it's going to be handled by a Thai court that will also appoint an executor, if not stated in the will. The court handling a last will will be a court in the country where the deceased lived when dying and thereby follow the rules of that country, if not another country has specific rules, which is mainly in real estate cases. Children under the age of 20 will inherit under guardianship. It's best to specify exactly in the will how the assets are going to be divided and any restrictions. There are very good information about last will in Thailand in the book "Thai Law for Foreigners", page 78 to page 81...
  5. 5k baht to 10k baht would probably be fine contribution that can help a lot, but as @Crossy says, check with your partner. A ceremony and cremation can easily cost 30k baht, but a number of envelopes with some level of financial support should also be expected...????
  6. I'm living a beach place with hills, of which some a high enough to be small mountains. I carefully checked at a number of places in Thailand before I decided to settle, where I've been living so far 17 outstanding years. I'm into all year summer and barefoot Christmas, so I found an island in the southern part of the Gulf that is never too cold, nor too warm. Big enough for the all the comforts one needs - airport, cinemas, hospitals, night- and party-life, schools, shopping malls, trendy pubs and restaurants etc. - and small enough to still not being a real city... Not too bad an afternoon view either...

  8. I miss the photo of that sideline girl, she must be a real stunner; if she is worth that kind of money, her image should have been shared for us poor members that cannot afford the real stuff, so at least we can see what we miss...
  9. Nope, it's called "non-immigrant O multiple entry", but not many embassies announce it. A friend just checked last week with the Royal Thai Embassy in Copenhagen, they has it, but they don't list it; howver, they have it on their visa fee price list. I've had a couple of that visa earlier...????
  10. Yes, valid for one year and with 90-days stay at each entry...????
  11. Sounds like khun Thaksin is into vote buying, which might boost inflation. Last time they did a huge increase in minimum wage - from 200 baht to 300 baht per day - people complained that after the increase prices had gone up and they could not buy more, rather little less for their money. The article mentions a lot about recovering of the tourist industry. Many Myanmar-people are preferred in the tourist areas, both because of their little better English skills, and also because it's difficult to find workers domestically. It's often stated that Thailand is short of work force and dependent of migrant workers, the number 3 million have been mentioned. Would be nive to know how many of the workers in the tourists business are Thais and how many migrant workers..? The wage would increase naturally when the amount of work force is low, it might be a better way to adjust the minimum wage based on a combination of the market's demand and consumer price index, the latter is in total up around 12 percent over a 10-year period.; however, about 7 percent up in short term like one year... It's about 10-years ago the minimum wage was raised to 300 baht, from October this year it will be 355 baht, i.e. in total 18 percent increase from the 300-baht level. However, minimum wage was was around four years ago also changed to reflect current skill standards in the range from 345 baht to 858 baht per day (source: The Nation Thailand)...????
  12. Not according to the new rules - you can even travel abroad and re-enter Thailand, if you have a re-entry permit - but always remember that Samui Immigration Office can have their own rules...????
  13. Yes, especially now with the heating costs in Europe; they were pretty high enough already 17 years ago...???? When I was told almost 20 years ago that you could live in Thailand for 150,000 baht a year - which was probably more surviving on a modest life-style - I realized that I could live there for my yearly heating costs, actually little less. I dare not to think of what my heating costs would be today, merely something like my actual quite Okay life-style here in Thailand...???? I'm still very happy that I left and yes, currency exchange rate means something - I remember well the happy days when I got 40% more baht for my foreign money - but I will most likely manage to adjust consume and life-style to actual level of funds and costs of living...???? As long as they don't close for the heating, I'm expect to be continuously happy, as I enjoy all-year-sommer and barefoot-Xmas...
  14. The immigration office can issue an address confirmation letter, you don't need anything from an embassy.
  15. The TM30 registration has been changed for expats, so if you live in the same place, you don't need to register anymore, even if you temporary stay in another province, or take a trip abroad and enter on re-entry permit. The TM6 arrival-address card has also been (temporary) cancelled. I'm glad to hear that it seems like Samui Immigration has decided to follow these changes in practice...????
  16. Apparently, Hatyai is what the news said, it docked in Songkhla...???? "The Blue Dolphin" Ferry From Hatyai, Songkhla to Sattahip by Seahorse Ferry Co., Ltd. Link to introduction video on Youtube HERE. Link to Hatyai Life Society news-story (Facebook) about the new ferry-route HERE.
  17. It's the Tessa Ban-office that issues a Yellow House Book. Check first what you need to bring, as you might also need two witnesses that knows you, preferably a neighbor and a government employed...????
  18. New car-ferry route from Sattahip Pier in Chonburi-province to Nathon Pier on Samui...
  19. Blue Dolphin were sailing to HaiYai before, seems like that route were not lucrative, Then it was schedule for a Chomphon-Tao-Phangan-Samui route in 2021, which to my knowledge never began due to the Covid-pandemic. Exciting if the are car passengers enough from Chonburi Province to Samui...???? I would have thought some place close to Bangkok would be a much better harbor, for passengers that wish to bring their car to the island, but also wish to avoid around 10 hours driving plus two hours ferry from the mainland, I was actually suggesting that about 14 years ago...????
  20. Just wonder how they can show their new phone yesterday or before, as iPhone 14 is not available before 16th September...????
  21. Only 2 month for a start, it changed some years ago...????
  22. Better to build the roof to Thai monsoon standards than common Western standard... My fully Thai constructed roof, build by Thai workers, has so far been standing watertight 12 years and withstanding heavy monsoon rain - even a 100-year record - without any leaks...????
  23. That's a reason why when dating a Thai lady, you should be certain that all old relationships are completely finished...
