  1. Many expats diss Pattaya because they want to appear to be above the sex angle of living in Thailand. They think that living in Chiang Mai etc absolves them of their own delving into the darker side of human existence. Most of us are, or originally came here, for the wine, women and song, or rather SEX, but some want to give an alternative appearance simply by living away from one of the centres of it all. In fact, Pattaya has been cleaned up compared to 20 years or more ago but many non-Pattaya expats can't accept that. Keeping it 'dirty' in their minds keeps them free of a guilt complex.
  2. So why don't u get evidence and have him prosecuted? It is the "do nothings" that perpetuates corruption. Either that or stop whining.
  3. Imitation meat is not only for vegetarians, but also for those who want to eat less meat for various reasons (health, environment, maybe cost, maybe less cruelty to animals ) but still get a similar taste and texture to meat. Also imitation meat is made so the protein quality and quantity is equivalent to real meat, something that unprocessed vegetables don't have.
  4. So how do we get into supermarkets located inside malls, something we can do now, unless we are double vaxed?
  5. The only time you need to prove a foreign transfer of funds is for the whole amount when you buy property. No need for buying a car or motorbike either.
  6. ".....I assume?". You mean you are asking if you assume or not? I'll take a guess.....
  7. What? How can you possibly say that? What evidence or experience of vaccine research do you have? The side effects of vaccines could easily be due to the adjuncts and solvents that are added to the vaccine and there are many. They are often quite stable beyond the life of the serum itself. Even an inactive serum can be antigenic and cause side effects.
  8. I had my first Astra about 3 weeks ago at BHP and asked about a cert and the staff told me I would receive one after my second jab for which I have an appt on 2 Nov.
  9. Banks will only provide an FET above a certain any. I think it is 200,000 baht.
  10. I am not sure that would be recognised. The ones officially supplied by hospitals or the WHO does not have anything written about Covid on the front. It looks to me like someone is just providing counterfeits. However, if the info, signature and hospital stamp are genuine, it may be ok to use but no more than any certificate provided by a hospital in Thailand after you get their second Vax. No harm in having both though.
  11. I agree. Some of the recent USA presidents are some of the worst war and civil criminals. Take Reagen, Johnson, Nixon, The Bushes, Trump, and even Kennedy and you have a cabal of them. Note that most of them belong to that odious GOP.
  12. I am in same situation. End May to end of June in Munich for a Bavarian holiday. Booked refundable hotel for 5 weeks but will leave flight until the situation clarifies as airlines only seem to offer a voucher if 'free' refunded. They do offer free change of schedule but not sure how long that is valid for. Can't wait to get out of Thailand for a while
  13. Fun? Are u serious. Under his watch, bars and clubs had to shut by midnight! It was much more fun before he arrived. You obviously weren't here then. He started the trend that has descended more and more ever since. https://www.euromoney.com/article/b1320swzn2b1zz/thaksin-hits-thailands-legendary-nightlife
  14. Enough if 'do not do anything that annoys your neighbours'. Most condos have rules that can include creating noise and smells that disturb neighbours. No need to be overt
  15. Silly. Don't you realise that the smells will permeate the whole corridor and other people's rooms?
  16. Cooling rooms down can be done with fans or a/c. I never leave my door open, I respect my neighbours. My door does not completely stop loud noise or cooking smells coming in from the corridor. In any case why should people have to walk down a smelly corridor every day just because of one inconsiderate fool? Keeping condo doors propped open is a clear case of no right and no responsibility.
  17. Except they are a bloody nuisance when they disrespect everybody else with noise coming from their shouting or TV and, like my neighbour, only open the door when they are cooking to let out the smell of their stinky fish food, coz they are too cheap or lazy to get an extraction hood. Doors are meant to be shut, otherwise why have them?
  18. Used my Thai credit card yesterday. No problem as usual. You could try reinstalling the app. It may be your card that is the problem.
  19. Do a Google image search or use Google Lens. I did a quickie and all the results show it is a tadpole but the question is which type of frog?
  20. I go whenever 1. The cinemas are open (been closed many months in Pattaya), and 2. there is a film worth watching ( not often in Patts). It's a different experience compared to sitting at home and I can shop in the malls at the same time. I only go in the afternoon. The main problem sometimes is people crunching smelly snacks, talking and the light from their mobiles but not often. Also you cannot always get the latest film releases on your TV esp Hollywood and foreign films (latter not common in Thailand apart from Thai films). Bangkok is best for the cinema and there are some art house cinemas which I go to sometimes. Watching all your visual art at home can turn you into a vegetable!
  21. I usually use Lazada for online shopping but tried ‘Sloppy’ for the first time and ordered some famous brand leather shoes at a quarter (2500 baht) of the shop price. OK I know now to avoid such ‘bargains’ but the seller assured me that they were 100% genuine brand shoes with leather uppers and proof of that claim is in the chat history of the ‘Sloppy’ app. As soon as the shoes arrived I noticed a spelling error on the lettering embossed on the uppers, which were also clearly not genuine leather. I told the seller that they were fakes but he disagreed, but after pressing him he agreed to send me another pair that he assured me I would be happy with. I explained that I don’t even want one pair so why would I want two? I demanded a full return/refund. To cut a long story short, I complained to ‘Sloppy’ many times via the app emails and phone calls. They assured me they would look into it, but actually never gave me anything but worthless automatic or semi-automatic replies. Eventually the seller, who I have subsequently found out is a westerner, probably a Brit, living in China, agreed to a return/refund in chat but only after I had returned the shoes to his Brit friend in Chiang Mai. By this time my appeals to ‘Sloppy’ had apparently run out and they stopped my appealing for a refund via the app. This again is a long story but ‘Sloppy’s’ return/refund request system is mind bogglingly stupid and obviously aimed at driving you away. This meant the only recourse I had left was to accept the seller’s offer of a refund after his friend had received the shoes even though I risked losing both the original cost and the unwanted shoes if the seller refused to refund the cash. I duly sent off the shoes and the intermediary in Chiang Mai confirmed receipt. Now the seller has sent me a screenshot of what he claims is the timeline of the refund process showing that he approved the refund and that ‘Sloppy’ made the refund. But there are several aspects of this timeline screenshot which shows it is fake and I have received no information in the ‘Sloppy’ app or via email about the approval after at least one day. I realise the amount would not show up on my credit card for several days but I should have been informed of this via the app immediately it was approved. When I confronted the seller with the clues to the faked timeline, he did not answer and immediately blocked my sms in the ‘Sloppy’ app so he is now incommunicado except via his intermediary friend. However, the chat history is still available as evidence. Finally I am trying to get the Chiang Mai intermediary, a decent guy by all accounts, to shame his fraudulent mate in China into issuing a genuine refund and have also made the umpteenth request to ‘Sloppy’ to do something about it or I go on social media about it. Thaivisa is my first attempt. In conclusion, don’t use ‘Sloppy’ unless you don’t want to EVER get a refund. I am convinced they know that much of what is on their site is counterfeit and don’t want to upset the applecart. It was my first and last time of using it. I expect many responders in Thaivisa will say just ‘forget about it and walk away’ but 2500 baht is not a small sum and I have chosen to make a stand for other reasons. It is a learning exercise for me and at least I can pass on my experiences that may help others avoid the pitfalls of using ‘Sloppy’.
