  1. I intend to grow a pair of "wiggies" to celebrate team GBR's successes.

The massive populations and funding by China and USA compared to the 60 million pop of the UK.

Most of the Team Gb competitors are or have been self funding, yet we still manage to wipe the floor with the rest of the world.

    That's what make GREAT Britain.

    On another note

To members on here who have children of dual nationalities, which must be several thousand! How about we all push them more to take up Olympian sports( I'm not saying you do or don't push them enough allready). Then maybe in 8 or 12 years time we can see the benefits of a vastly improved and varied Thai Olympic team.

For the record i have 3 who are interested in cycling, Javelin and tennis,What are your serious thoughts on this matter please.....

Your idea is a good one,but trying to convince Thai Governments to take the Olympics seriously and put some money into Sport is going to be hard work. Witness their effort at this Olympics,at the opening ceremony it looked like the Thai Contingency was about fifteen athletes,no need to ask why they only have 1 Silver and 1 Bronze up to now, with 3 or 4 days left, and a few million larger population than the UK.

  2. Seems not everyone is a fan of the Olympics!

Fortunately very few people are interested in what a self serving knob like Morrissey thinks. An absolute <deleted> of monumental proportions

Morryssey is a typical multi millionaire pop singer, who made his fortune from the very establishment that he pretends to despise

We have seen them all, Bono,Lennon,Dillon,Geldof (exception though) and the rebels always make a lot of money!

I guess Morrissey is peeved because he didn't get called apon to sing his crap songs at the Olympics.

  3. I have no idea if this man is guilty or not? but there does seems a big incentive in this Country to fabricate a story, with the intention of gaining money. And the accusers even have two chances at the payoff, once when the accused has a chance of buying off the prosecution charges, and a second time,if found guilty,in Court, with a compensation payout.

The system appears to favour false accusations, and to make it seem worthwhile,to have a try on.

  4. I haven't had a bag of Lays Crisps in a long time,I got fed up with 80% injected air,and 20% Crisps, which made up a bag full of nothing!

The reason for the air is to keep the product from being crushed, the reason for the oversized bag compared to the amount of chips - marketing.

Agree with the first part, but when does marketing end,and profiteering begin?

  5. Jurgen you make a very good spin-meister.

    Thank you biggrin.png

Like the red shirts & the loud-mouthed PTP pollies, you seem to be advocating a one-party state where the opposition is silenced a much as possible. Most democracies allow opposition.

When the current government carries out policies that benefit Thailand, they deserve support. When they drop the baton & concentrate on absolving criminals, they will rightly find opposition from many sides.

Lastly, the 74% who want the PM to carry on seemed to me to answering a question about a cabinet change. 10% or so don't want it but I'm sure they know that it is not Yingluck who will make that decision.

For a functioning democracy, you need (at least) two strong party competing each other.

    Today you have one, PT.

Unfortunately the democrats are not willing to play their part. Abhisit is a leader of the past, a civil servant with the emphasize on "servant".

As long as the democrats can't find a strong leader there will be an unbalance in Thai poliltic.

    Don't blame PT for that.

    _

And are you saying that Yingluck is the PTP strong leader???

  6. Law suits filed in the US would/should be of concern to Mr. T.

I am starting to wonder if he has already been issued with a diplomatic passport so getting immunity.

Sent from my GT-I9003 using Thaivisa Connect App

If k. Thaksin has a diplomatic passport (e.g. a Thai one), the USA can still legally refuse him entry. Since we haven't seen k. Thaksin's shiny new Thai passport which was hand-delivered at the height of Thaliand biggest flooding in history, we don't know. Still A&P no longer registered as "Thaksin's lobbyists" has legal ramifications which I do not clearly understand, but which I wouldn't be surprise to heaar to have a relation with this.

Could it be A&P are distancing themselves, before the...... hit-the-fan.gif ???

  7. As the police have now been sentenced the family no longer has access to the Witness Protection Program. Now that the convicted are out on bail, let's hope for the sake of the family this is immediately re-instated.

It would seem a Major Basic Point has been missed here, the witnesses it seems, are no longer in need of protection, because the the case has been tried.and the guilty are now back on the streets,.......words fail me.

  8. The only "despicable" acts I see here are the the giving out of judges addresses and inciting violence on those judges - if that is the case and when proven - I still believe in trials unlike some of the "voices of reason" on here .

As far as the rest goes, the reaction to the symbolic "burning of coffins" is emotional hyperbole by people who really think that they are not "ordinary" people. As such the reports are ideal partners for the faux emotionality displayed on these forums - did you ever write to forums back home gushing "Punish these guys for their despicable Acts", actually you probably did.

Get over it, some red shirts burnt some paper coffins over their understandable frustration with the Judiciary getting involved where they shouldn't.

Don't you think that given the current political landscape here in Thailand, having groups of people, shown on TV, burning effigies of the judges as well as coffins was an incitement to violence?

Absolutely correct! and a long way from 'Reconciliation' as the PTP Party, and the Red Shirt Leaders are fond of quoting, when it suits them, such Hypocracy is breathtaking, and does nothing for Democracy,of which they understand the sum total of nothing.

  9. Sorry but I can't give a link on this,I clearly remember it in a certain Newspaper.

Of course its so long ago, that my memory may not be serving me well,or it may have been the Newspapers summary of his speech, which was quoted?

I am going to lend you hand. biggrin.png I also remember a "Dead or Alive" quote by Thaksin from somewhere. After looking for it, this may be where it came from.

    http://www.nationmul...ksin-53527.html

Well thanks for that link, but in all honesty I don't recall the article was referring to Wei,but of course it was a long time ago,and ones memory can become clouded.

  10. And who was it,who arranged a 3 months purge on drug dealers (many unproven), and started it, with the infamous words"Bring them in Dead or Alive" ?

infamous words? are you sure you're not talking about him saying "We will take him dead or alive" while speaking about drug warlord Wei Xieu-kang?

i don't know if he said what you said but maybe you can show me a source?

Here is a translation of Thaksin's famous speech on the war on drugs. The kick-start to the campaign.

    http://pioneer.netse...january2003.pdf

Had a read all throught that. He does tend to repeat himself. However, found no reference whatsoever to those "infamous words "Bring them in Dead or Alive"

Anothe speech perhaps or another guy, MAJIC?

Please see my Post No 55.

  12. A 'floorless', performance on the Floor exercise see GB take over the Silver from the Japanese, but they have protested.

Japanese win the protest and are elevated to Silver, great drama.

But looked like he fell off to me,or at the very least a very poor less than perfect finish landing ! and to be elevated from 4th place to 2nd place.....Hmmmm, how many other results could be overturned on appeal, in this manner ?

  13. The usual Xenophobia.

Having obtained a Settlement Visa in the UK.

Here are the People that the Settlement person do not have to contact, or will not be contacted by them.

    Home Office.......... NO contact required

UK Border Agency NO contact required

    Police.................... NO contact required

    Paperwork/Forms NONE

    Immigration check in NONE

You may be having a joke but, My point is: How much further is this Beurocratic nonsense of Thailand Visas going?people will believe anything because of their present Immigration rules

Never heard of a Thai settlement visa, so you can not compare. seem to remember that certain persons in the UK on other long stay visas had to report to police their current address.

Not enforced, but the UK does not have real immigration police, much the pity, but a bunch of paper pushing Immigration officers. Jim

I didnt claim it was a Thai Settlement Visa,I said:"a Settlement Visa in the UK" It was mean't to compare with Thai Visas, and the over the top method in which they keep tabs on everyone, as if they were criminals, who can't be trusted.

  15. Their actions of intimidation are due to the frustration they feel about the lack of freedom of speech in this country and their lack of trust of a court that basically protects the rights of the wealthy and powerful.

I bet you said the same or thought it when they attempted to burn down Bangkok, among other Terrorist activities.

  16. Come on and cheer your Olympic Team on here at the London Olympic Thread here in the Sports Forum.

ALL Nations welcome here ... especially some information on the Thai Team would be warmly appreciated.

From the Country by Country introduction and walk around the Stadium it looked like about ten - fifteen Athletes will be participating. Which Sports? I have no idea,at this moment in time.
