  1. How often do you tell Thai parents what to do? Is it that all Thai children behave? Or do you like to pick on the outsiders and pretend you are the big guy? You told a Russian mother what to do, yeah, you should be proud of yourself. Why don't you look for a challenge?
  2. If fast is your priority, then go to one of those second-hand dealers and take whatever they offer. That should be fast. If you want more money and can wait longer, than fast is obviously not your priority.
  3. When I was young, I read somewhere that they are only two kinds of outcomes of marriages. People who divorce and people who think about divorce but haven't done it yet. My parents never divorced, but they blamed each other how good life could be without the other. And then I saw how treacherous and very expensive divorce can be. And that's when I decided I will never marry. I am living in mostly happy long-term relationship without marriage. Sometimes I think she is such a nice woman, maybe I should marry her. But then, sometimes she has a bad mood for some time and I am happy that I am not married. I could finish without bad financial consequences. I know this, she knows this, and that's IMHO the best way to keep a nice relationship.
  4. I own two motorcycles. One which is middle size and fun, and one which is small and still fun. I don't need a car in my everyday life. And I know that EV vehicle fires don't happen very often. But they happen. And if there would be many more EVs, then there would be many more EV fires in inaccessible locations. I.e. an EV car fire in a steel construction building can make that building unsafe. Is it a big risk now? No. Is it a risk? Yes.
  5. On Rama II it will be safe. With that construction site and 3km/h "speed" the risk of accidents is not so high anymore.
  6. Somehow, I find this EV vehicle hype all over the world funny. Lots of people want to tell us all that EVs are easier to maintain and so much better in so many ways. Great, then they should sell like hot cakes. But apparently that is not happening. Maybe if the people in charge want to promote them, then they should do everything so that people actually want them. Make it easy to charge them fast everywhere. Adress concerns about fire-risks. If the infrastructure is there, then people will buy those cars. And if not, then not. What's the point of making them cheaper if people don't want to use them?
  7. It's almost funny that that always happens with criminals who are somehow related to the people in charge - and not only in Thailand.
  8. I like profile picture like this and comments like that. I read them once, and then they go in the garbage bin - in this forum called Ignore List. Problem solved.
  9. Thanks I think what I really want to know is a nice way to tell them. I do business with businesses and in principle they should not be surprised when everything gets more expensive over time. But sometimes they behave like children, who just like to complain that the world is so bad, and now they have to pay more. I remember with a hotel, I knew their prices from the lunch buffet over the years, and I could easily show them that they increased their prices by more than I did. But with other businesses I don't know what they charge and it's not so easy to compare.
  10. This should be in a business forum, but it seems there is no business forum here anymore. If there is, then admins, please move this. I work since decades in Thailand, officially and with work permit and all that. And I charge for my computer service mostly per hour. Over the years, I increased my prices mostly for new clients and mostly I kept the same rates for existing clients. But obviously it makes sense to also increase the prices for existing clients over time. In my experience farang clients understand this. But it seems some (or all?) Thai clients don't like that. Like, I am your customer already for 10 years, why do you want to increase your rates now? Maybe I should ask them if they still get the same salary as 10 years ago and if they still sell their products and services with no price increases. Do you have any tips how to explain reasonable price increases to existing Thai customers?
  11. I guess over the year the meaning of that tattoo will change: Originally: Come, let's do it. I like it and I make money with it. Later: Go away! Same words, different meaning.
  12. Thanks for your reply. It could be any of above. But the triggering of the RCCB happened within a year only one time. If moisture would be the problem, then I guess that would likely happen more often. Maybe it is a (now) fried gecko. Let's see what the AC cleaning process will bring up.
  13. The ACs in my new renovated condominium are since about a year in constant use. 99% of the time they all work fine. One night a few days ago suddenly one of the ACs had no power anymore. I checked the breakers (RCCB and MCB) and the RCCB was off. When I switched it on again it triggered again within a second. I switched off all other MCBs which are connected to that RCCB, and it became clear that the AC (or cabling or connections to that AC) is the problem. I decided to check the problem the next day. I switched everything on again and it worked. And until now, a few days later, there was no problem again. I called already Daikin to clean the ACs. I guess if they see an obvious problem, they will let me know. I also looked at the cables and connections. From what I can see there are no problems anywhere. I suspect that maybe some insect created a shortcut, and this triggered the RCCB. Do you have similar experience or an educated guess about the problem? P.S.: I learned how to do electrical installations in Europe, and I made the electrical installation in my Condo. All has earth and RCCBs and MCBs or RCBOs. It is extreme unlikely that there is a problem with the cabling or connections.
  14. Go home for what reason? To see the old parents and take care of them? No more parties, no more entertainment? Obviously, some do that. But it seems to me they do it mostly because they are old themselves and/or run out of money to afford Pattaya and parties.
  15. It seems the most important question is if they have wealth. If yes, then it seems nothing else matters. It seems to me most villagers look up to people with money, a nice house, a big pickup, and all that. And then many send their daughters to places like Pattaya to get the same. TiT.
  16. All of above. Personally, I live in Sukhumvit in Bangkok. These days I don't go out as much anymore as I used to. Do I move? No. Because I am familiar with where I live, and I like it. If I would move, then obviously it should be a "better" place. But better in which way? Quiet with fewer restaurants? A place with fewer young people and more old people? Maybe a village up country? All this doesn't sound better to me. And I am pretty sure with many girls who lived in Pattaya it's the same. Why move to a less exiting place?
  17. Obviously, it's nice to have relevant links ready. But what if we read books years ago, saw videos from experts, etc. and don't have the quotes or links ready? In our lives we learn a lot, sometimes we revise what we learn and sometimes we verify what we know already. In this case I learns about parents how children learn and grow up over more than 30 years. Should I now try to find somewhere an article about what I know? Obviously, I could search the internet and post a link or two. But let's say I find a 30min video which seems to explain the situation. Should I watch it first to make sure I agree with all of it? And then there is obviously the question how much time I want to spend doing research for a forum like this. It's not that I have to prepare for a court case to win. So, I will continue to write about what I know, and maybe add some links or quotes, but I don't feel compelled to do that all the time.
  18. That brings another quote to my mind, I don't know who said it first. There is an easy solution for every complex problem. And most of the time it is wrong.
  19. Good post. I think the anger is often fired up by some politicians who want angry people not to think too much. And it obviously works.
  20. Everyday rice meals, like many Thais eat, are cheap in Thailand.
  21. It seems many of those little people are angry. And they want strong-men solutions like getting rid of all those bad immigrants who only take their jobs. It does not really matter if that is true or not, if they are angry, they don't think too much and vote for easy solutions.
  22. In case you have metal pipes, then those can have rust inside and that might clock valves or something like that.
  23. Starmer does what is best for the UK. Would it make sense for him to tell everybody what an ahole Trump is? No. That's why he doesn't do that. Apart from that, Trump is obviously an ahole and everybody knows that.
  24. It seems many women like to compare themself to other women. And often enough they compare themselves to the unreal online presentations of other women like Instagram ,etc. And it seems a lot of women make the fatal mistake that if they have a friend with big breast, and that friend has lots of admirers, then they conclude: It must be the big breast of her. But maybe the other woman just smiles more, or she has a nice body and great hair or whatever. But all that is not noticed, it must be the big breasts... And then, when she gets herself big breasts, and the other one still gets more attention, what then?
