  1. I was there hundreds of times. Never had a fight or even a dangerous situation. Just relax and respect the locals.
  2. No, in that case the Thai guy would have negotiated a reasonable fee. ;) It must have been something important.
  3. Ok, I also didn't have a credit card when I was last a tourist in Thailand about 30 years ago. At that time, we had cash and traveler checks and all that. And obviously it is still possible to exist and even travel without a credit card. But why do when it is so much more convenient to have those little plastic cards compared to wads of cash? If you lose the card, no problem, get a new one. Or let the hotel talk to the credit card company and let you use your credit without having the card. If you lose cash, that's it, it's gone.
  4. I advise Chinese women, and best all women from the test of the world, to visit Nana. Here is a hint: Nobody wants to see you in that area.
  5. Is there anybody out there who expects the truth out of her mouth or the mouth of any Shinawatra?
  6. A farang friend and his gf invest since a couple of years in small cheap Thai condominium which they rent out. The rent is maybe 2000 to 3000B per month to give you an idea about these things. It seems they make good money with that, about 10% ROI, and they buy more and more of them. I think by now they own about 10 of these small non-luxury condominiums.
  7. What just crossed my mind: If I would be a woman without money in a foreign country, who would I approach to help me? Another woman? Or a man? I am pretty sure most women would approach other women if they need help. And if they don't want help but scam someone? Then they would obviously look for men.
  8. Let's assume for a moment that her story was true. Does she have a credit card? If no, then she shouldn't travel. If yes, then she can use that one - even if she doesn't have the physical card. Just call i.e. AMEX and they sort is out. And obviously it's not your job to help strange women.
  9. Why would you want to format drive C? If you want to make sure there is no personal data on that thing, use the built in Windows function to erase everything. I think you can find it when you search for reset or something like that.
  10. How about free high-quality schools for everybody? That would be a big incentive. But obviously that is not what politicians want.
  11. Hopefully your solution solves the problem. Please report after all is done.
  12. If vendors from a fresh market can't compete with a shopping center, then they do something seriously wrong. Probably it's more like: Now we add 300% margin. If there is competition, then nobody will buy from us anymore. Maybe they should try to compete with quality and price. Then they shouldn't have a problem.
  13. What's the point of asking someone who receives orders from the convict? It's like when mothers of convicts are interviewed. He was always such a nice son...
  14. As far as I know Abhisit was the best PM Thailand ever had. But it seems the majority of Thais don't want an educated honest leader. So what would be the point of him becoming leader of the DEMs? And then there is obviously the problem that there are also a lot of incompetent corrupt politicians in the Democrat Party. What should he do? Throw them all out? Would they allow that to happen?
  15. Good luck I am not American, and I don't have to vote for any of the available choices over there. Trump is obviously a nightmare. But what's the alternative? And old guy who has problems walking down a stage? And he is in a political party with lots of woke idiots. I think it would be the perfect time for a centrist party with a leader who is not over 70 and has no radical left or right ideas. There must be many millions of Americans who don't like the GOP and don't like the DEMs and don't like their presidential candidates. In a country with over 300 million people, one would think they should be able to have a couple of decent presidential candidates.
  16. No I would ask a "specialist". They do it all the time, it's not difficult and cheap. If you want to do it yourself you need the proper tools and the correct "gas" and the know how. Do you want to buy the tools and learn how to do it for one time?
  17. Exactly. It is such a pathetic phenomenon particular to western expats lacking self esteem. Obviously it's so much better to try to be part of the society in the west. Or maybe not?
  18. And there was the unspoken: ... and every boy in our class fancied her.
  19. I found another picture, from the wonderful Japanese AKB48 girls. Same same, but different. Just for you. ;)
  20. There are at least 100 reasons why this guy should never have been made PM. And most of them were obvious before they selected him. I guess the good news is that whenever I think about stupid politics in Thailand, I just have to look at the news from the UK and USA and right away I feel better that I live here.
  21. "Why Do Men From Scotland Come to Thailand to Find a Girlfriend?" For the same reason men from the rest of the word do that. Isn't that obvious?
  22. I arrived on my bike and parked in B2 - after trying to find a motorcycle parking spot for maybe 10min. Then I made my way up to IKEA through B1, G, GM, M, 1, 2, and finally with another elevator in another area to 3. When I left IKEA I asked for a lift. They sent me to a faraway corner where I was the only person. They had at least 6 lifts in that area - without any people. I guess they call that "modern design" or something like that. On my way out of the lifts in B2 I took a picture where to find the lifts next time. Feel free to also use them, they are empty. ;)
  23. Their problem might also be related to the driving skills of many people here. I think it is always amazing how many Thais need a security guard to guard them around a corner or into a bag parking space. TiT.
