PM: No Extension for Tak Bai Litigation Period Despite Calls
bradiston replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
https://www.ocs.go.th/council-of-state/#/public And there's a pdf file which gives the whole low down on this extraordinary beast. For instance: "In the performance of duties, the Law Councillors meet as a Committee. At present, there are 136 Law Councillors divided into 14 Law Committees, each of which consists of 10 Law Councillors." I would absolutely challenge Madam Ung Ing to produce chapter and verse of this ruling. In a statement a few days ago, there seemed to be clear precedent for an extension. I don't have the source to hand. -
PM: No Extension for Tak Bai Litigation Period Despite Calls

Well, as president of the Council of State, she should know. But I'm not in the tiniest bit convinced that she does. The whole council, lawyers, academics, legal experts etc would have had to have met and discussed it at length. And exactly when did that happen? When courts fail, let natural justice prevail. Karma, vengeance and divine retribution await these dodgers. -
You could try Thepprasit. Many Thai eateries on both sides of the road. Some going 24 hours. And you can enjoy browsing Ratanakorn market!

California doctor claims spicy Thai dish left her with chemical burns
bradiston replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
They do ask sometimes "ow pet my?", do you want it hot? Answer, "ow" or "may ow". Want, or not want. Or "kee met", ie how many chilis, for eg som tam, larb, yam and geng. 2 or 3 is enough for me. Of course it helps if you're culturally savvy, at least enough to be able to know what hot is the average Thai, if such an entity existed. But tastes and cuisine vary hugely in Thailand, north, south, central etc. Many Thais don't actually like it fiery hot. And if you can say "I really don't want it hot" in Thai I think they'll hear you! And appreciate it too! -
I've not read the rest of this thread, so it might be a bit repetitive. Exercise alone won't reduce weight. They say it's 70/30 diet and gym. I did keto for 21 months. I was by no means in ketosis throughout. In the first 3 months I lost 6 kilos. You shed a lot of water stored in fat. Thereafter it went down to a floor of 80kg from 95kg. Lower than that I couldn't manage. I cooked my own food, essential. Counted carbs but not to the point of cult status. No bread, potatoes, pasta, rice and very few sugary fruits. No sugar. Use erythritol. Strawberries and star fruit petmissible. I quit end of last year. Since then I've put 7kg back on. But it was a great education and it taught me to take care of myself. That's all that really matters, GG. Taking care of yourself. Ps they say not to eat after 8pm. Sage advice as if you skip breakfast, you've fasted for 16 hours until midday. Not really difficult. I used to have a jar of additive, sugar and salt free crunchy peanut butter handy. A teaspoon works wonders if you get pangs.

Maybe she tries it on everywhere. Order something super hot then throw a fit when her ass catches fire. -

Sounds more like an allergic reaction. And even if not, how can the restaurant be held responsible? She ordered it, end of. If she's Indian she should know about hot curries. She'll litigate in the hope the restaurant will settle. Arrogant and brazen. -

I'm always asked if I want "spicy" in Thai restaurants in Pattaya. And I've never ever heard a Thai say "No can do". "Cannot" is usual. And when would a waiter or waitress say they can't vary the heat? Are you making this stuff up? -

? Is 100/hour suitable for part-time maid in CM?
bradiston replied to Old Curmudgeon's topic in Chiang Mai
Agree. I used to pay 300 for a one bed condo, maybe 2 hours work, with less to do than your schedule. I think 300 would be nearer the mark. 3 bedrooms could be a lot of work if all occupied. -
Brilliant! I noticed hardly any over Jomtien way! There are some at the junction of Thepprasit and Thappraya but not sure if they're working.

How about a Democrats v Republican rumble down on the beach somewhere? Get it all out of our systems! Better than sitting at a keyboard hurling insults at each other.

That will totally destroy the bacteria that's supposed to digest the waste material. You need to add EM to restore the bacterial content.

Main drains? Not where I used to live. There weren't any.

Well, I'd say you did make a mistake. You ordered from Lazada without fully checking alternatives. Unless it's a lot cheaper, why fuss?

I admire your restraint. Maybe it goes for the majority of Americans. Just owning a gun gives peace of mind. I don't know why it's become such a hot potato. I guess the mass shootings account for that. There are a lot in the US. 582 currently in the US this year. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_mass_shootings_in_the_United_States_in_2024 The damage done by these incidents is enormous. Every one person killed or wounded is known to maybe 100s if not 1000s of friends, family, colleagues. Every time it happens there are calls for increased controls, fiercely resisted by the gun lobby. You can't arm kids. You can't protect kids 24/7. If the victims had been armed and were able to get a shot off... But these are mostly surprise attacks. Nobody is prepared 24/7. Random killings. How can you arm against them? How many attackers have been "immobilised" by their intended victims? 2A being a constitutional matter there's no way an individual state could disarm it's populace. I imagine all hell would break loose if it tried! The US has inherited a deep distrust in federal government, which is where the right to bear arms originated, I believe. Memories of the British? Or? Is it still realistic to assume Washington will invade your state?

I think the sinks and showers use maybe 1.5", but the toilets 4" - 6".

Thai PM Faces Allegations of Media Freedom Breach
bradiston replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
But your attacks are all personal. Why? It's not like she went out of her way to get the job. She was elected leader of PT. From there it was natural she would be nominated for PM. She was one of 3 nominations. She didn't get it first time round, and as I said, her dad didn't even support her candidacy. You seem to be blaming her for being young, attractive and from a powerful political family. But none of those things are in her control. How many others of a similar ilk are there in Thai politics? -
High-end Hotels Plan Rate Hike Amid Tourist Surge

What I was paying for a one bed condo in Pratamnak a month! Ok, hardly like for like if you want maid and room service, but I got plenty of that off Thai Friendly. -
I had a lot of problems with a tank. It filled for no apparent reason. No soakaway function. We ended up digging another tank about 10m away in the garden, that was below the level of the first tank, and connecting a large 6" blue pipe between the two, so the first tank fed into the 2nd any time the level reached the bottom of the pipe. A lot of hard work for my superman Cambodian builder. No problem since. My theory about the non functioning soakaway was lack of use over a period of time led to the soil becoming rock hard and completely impenetrable. Anyway, the overflow system worked for me.

What troubles you about an unarmed population? Most of the world is unarmed. If you're starving, drowning, dying of disease, what use is a gun? Only in the US is it becoming mandatory to carry a gun. Because your neighbour's got one. It's the only justification. If the population of America was disarmed, what do the NRA fear? What would be the outcome? Disaster for the weapons industry maybe. But they sell overseas mainly anyway. You think anarchy and chaos, looting and burning? Don't see much of that in Europe, for instance. China, India, Japan, much of South America, South Korea, Australia, NZ. Africa is completely overrun with arms. What a result. Death and destruction. The US is the odd man out.
