Value of land with rubber trees?
I wouldn't pay much more for land because it has rubber trees planted, especially if they are 15+ years old. Rubber prices are OK at present, you might want to look at that first.

Paulownia tree in the Isan
I am (was) a botanist so I think I would have noticed if they grow here. Bignonia, Sakura, Cassia, and BAUHINIA, a spectacular tree you see around Chiang Mai. Amherstia?

It’s all about defense—really
Pity the UK can't afford to buy.

It’s all about defense—really
So you prefer countries like the UK, that have let their army, navy and air force capabilities slip to insignificance? Israel has a strong weapons industry because it NEEDS to defend itself from their lunatic neighbours.

Pros and Cons of Screen Obsession Culture in Thailand
... not sure if this is related. My own fault, but I found myself with a 12 hours wait at the bus station in Bangkok At the time (15 years ago), a UK or Swiss waiting room would have been full of people reading newspapers or magazines or books. Nope, out of those maybe 400 people waiting, very few were reading at all. So is it the case that Thais are better informed these days, or are they just watching tik-tok videos?

Bangkok Bank still making adverse rules
As far as I know, the ฿2000.- balance rule applies to E-Savings accounts, which aren't the same as Savings accounts. The balance for Savings accounts required is ฿500.-. I went under that and received notice of the fact and was told to replenish, no penalties. Bangkok Bank recently let me know that I was limited to withdrawing the maximum sum of two million Baht in one day, which was nice of them. Do we know ANYONE that has an E-Savings account?

No Diesel
The SIL is stuck at home because he can't get diesel. I went to four petrol stations yesterday; one was closed, the second and third had run out, and the fourth had diesel but wouldn't let me fill my jerry can. I think I saw more petrol (?diesel) tankers around yesterday.

controlling leaf miners
You can try spraying with Neem oil, possibly mixed with a little detergent in order for it to wet the leaves properly. Sorry I'm a bit late, but so are you, probably. I gave up on melons because of the regular inspections and sprayings that they require.

Would you consider this to be an example of "hate speech."
A phobia is an irrational fear or dislike of something or someone. Examples: Christophobia, Judaeophobia, there's a lot of that about. So, my irrational fear of Islam stems from the fact that they want to eliminate all non-Muslims , by whatever means necessary, that they are allowed by their faith to lie in order to promulgate Islam... oh, etc, etc, I can't think of much that I like about it. Let's get on to the argument that always follows: "It's just the extremist Islamists that cause trouble". QUOTE: "Speaking at Kanal D TV’s Arena program, PM Erdogan commented on the term “moderate Islam”, often used in the West to describe AKP and said, ‘These descriptions are very ugly, it is offensive and an insult to our religion. There is no moderate or immoderate Islam. Islam is Islam and that’s it.”Source: Milliyet, Turkey, August 21, 2007" https://www.nationalreview.com/corner/moderate-turkeys-moderate-pm-erdogan-explains-there-no-moderate-islam-andrew-c/

US deploys Marines and warship to Middle East as Iran war escalates
Not sure where you got that lovely nugget of information from, It doesn't at all represent what I've been seeing on Tousi TV and others. Looks more like 90% are fed up with this lunatic regime machine-gunning protestors by the tens of thousands, and that army, police and IRGC members are deserting.

Trump Threatens to Block Bills Until Congress Passes Strict Voter ID Law
Most Americans don't have a passport. In view of the fact that places like California have been issuing driving licenses to non-citizens, which can then be used as voter ID, maybe it is time to introduce federally authorised ID's, don't you think?

Trump Threatens to Block Bills Until Congress Passes Strict Voter ID Law
Shoppers at a grocery store in Dayton, Ohio, US, on October 21. Kyle Grillot/Bloomberg/Getty Images/File President Donald Trump has revived one of the most bizarre false claims from his first presidency and his 2024 campaign: an assertion that Americans are required to show identification to buy groceries. Trump was mocked when he made versions of this claim in 2018 and 2019 while pushing for stricter voter identification laws. But he said it again in 2023 as he ran for president, then said it once more on Wednesday morning while baselessly questioning the legitimacy of US elections in the wake of Republican defeats in various state and local elections the day prior. “All we want is voter ID. You go to a grocery store, you have to give ID. You go to a gas station, you give ID,” Trump said Wednesday at . Americans obviously do not need to provide identification to buy groceries or gas. Grocery stores generally require identification for purchases of alcohol or tobacco, purchases of certain medications and for the small percentage of purchases made by personal check.

Iran Might Break Up into 7 Countries?
Yeah, right, if you suffer from <removed> then that's the only possible reason. How about: (after Venezueal) controlling the export of oil and gas to China. That's a biggie. Stopping a regime that has been financing and encouraging terrorism - ISIS, Al Qaeda, Hamas, Hezbollah, Muslim Brotherhood, ETC, from getting hold of a nuclear bomb. Relieving Iran of an extremely authoritarian regime, that didn't hesitate to machine-gun tens of thousands last year... Agenda: It seems you missed it, maybe you should read some other news source that doesn't keep telling us how warm and cosy the Islamic conquest is. There will be difficulties, that is clear, but that doesn't mean Trump is stupid.

Strange thing happened when was washing my MC
Occasionally when filling up the car, someone will offer to clean the windscreen. That's ฿20.- for five minutes work. If I were working on a pump attendant's wages, I would be collecting ฿100.- a day I imagine. I've always been puzzled by the fact that I don't get offered the service every time. (+ check your oil? tyres while yo're in 7-11?...)

Software Download Computer shop?
I can't understand why anyone would want to use any version of Windows. Dammit, I'm 78 and have no problems using Linux (Ubuntu).

How many more weeks, months, years, do you expect to live?
If you have kidney disease, yes.

How many more weeks, months, years, do you expect to live?
At age 78, I'm more interested in how I'm going to die than when. I won't be getting a kidney transplant and I have my doubts about three times weekly dialysis - too expensive so maybe I'll just let it go. I would like to see: successful moon landings, and something being done about what is happening to the UK at present.

I passed the tests while temporarily almost blind in one eye. A Thai guy in front of me got three tries on the colour test and failed.

Exception: people that tattoo their heads with rabbits, from a distance they look like hares. Sorry about that.

Don't take it for granted.
I believe that there exist stats that if you're diabetic and break a hip, you won't make it out of the hospital. I would claim that most falls are caused by lack of a sense of balance and/or dizziness, and that much of this can be prevented by daily exercise.

Citywide Adaptive Lights Target Bangkok Traffic Woes
50 years ago in the UK, starting off at a green light at the correct speed would ensure that you would get a steady stream of green lights. Not everywhere, as it could get quite complicated, but it did work.

What China’s response to the US attack on Iran says about its foreign policy
They respect strength. Incursions and provocations around Taiwan have drastically reduced since this started. Xi has other problems, like his personal survival, to worry about. The expensive radar system that they sold to Iran, not yet paid for, was easily jammed by the Americans.
