  1. I prefer to do online banking via my home network and VPN along with the bigger screen. When using mobile banking app, I try to remember to turn off wifi and do it via cellular. If I do use an outside wifi network a VPN is a must.
  2. So what will happen to all this illegally bought or built property? Does this mean the DSI and their friends are likely to get first dibs on some cheap villas?
  3. Must be a big relief to China that they have Thailand to back them up against any threats in the region.
  4. I received an email from SCB yesterday saying they will stop the SCB EasyNet internet banking service from 14th July. To be clear, this is internet banking via computer. Only mobile internet banking via the phone app will be possible in future as it is apparently more secure. A bit of a bummer as I prefer to do my banking on the larger screen of my computer.
  5. Wasn't bar talk. Rather a misunderstanding between a Thai and a foreigner. I did think I had edited it out a few minutes after posting it once I saw the map, but as I said, I was doing it on my phone and my eyes are playing up, so somehow the edit didn't save.
  6. Yes. I already edited my post to say that. Posted on my phone ans computer in for repair and my eyes aren’t so good. Well I thought I did. ????
  7. Anyone heard anything about this? I was told that due to a major repair electric will be off from 00:90 - 04:00. Maybe someone can translate attached to see if correct:
  8. Seems weird they won't allow it. When 3BB first installed fibre to my home here in Samui, I asked them to put their router in Bridge mode and use my Asus RT AC86U as my main router. They did it willingly. Sent a tech out to do it.
  9. I was going to say "get a room", but they are homeless. Even homeless people have urges.
  10. My funds are not subject to forfeiture (at least not yet) as they are legally earned and any taxes due, already taken. I can go and spend cash pretty much where and when I please without anyone looking over my shoulder. Although for a long while there have been limits on how much. And no, I am not talking about criminally. That won't be the case with your cashless society, which is all about control. To be clear, I am not against having digital banking alongside cash. Just a total cashless society controlled by governments.
  11. You are presuming you will have a government that cares about it people and their rights rather than themselves and maintaining power and control. Why should law abiding people be denied the freedom to spend their cash where, when and how they want. Indeed many times, even in the UK I have been able to haggle a price down by paying cash. Nothing illegal in that. From what I experience in checkout lines, it takes me longer to pay by scanning and paying on my mobile than paying with cash. Sometimes I give up and just pay in cash. You have your view, I have mine. We will just have to agree to disagree.
  12. In Bangkok, many Thai people still wearing them. especially on public transport. I was offered one and asked to wear during a hospital appointment. In Samui more relaxed, but again Thais in the talad, food stall, clinics and generally out and about. But nothing like in Bangkok.
  13. So are they admitting that the Illuminati exists in Thailand? And being a member is seditious? And what about Ironman and the other guy wearing a bra? What do they signify?
  14. How long will the poor elephant be required to stand in that cramped cage? The flight alone is around three and a half hours. Add on time getting itto and from airports at both ends and it must be getting on to over five hours. It seems a long time for what is an ailing elephant. I hope they sedate it.
  15. That's going to be one long cable to bring the electricity down to Earth.
  16. I believe they already did something like that in Australia when they were trialling cashless pensions. Pensioners were issued a card instead. They could only spend their pension in certain government authorised shops, and were not allowed to buy alcohol or cigarettes.
  17. I always wondered how he knew so much about the rules and regs here as they seem so convoluted to me. But he had them off pat so to speak. A very helpful man. Certainly helped me out a few times.
  18. Also at the mercy of governments. They will be able to take away your ability to buy anything or go anywhere if they so desire.
  19. Rabbits can breed at four months old? I did not know that. GF brought home a rabbit a couple of years ago at four months. Was still a tiny little thing. Now big and fat.
  20. Ordered something over a week ago. Been showing as "packed and will be handed over to courier" ever since.
