  1. Update to my original post. Just left Transport Office. Was told they can only issue Residence Certificate to Pink Card holders with Yellow Book. I need to go to the Tessaban. Don’t know what those who wish to open a bank account will need to do.
  2. Just been to Samui Immigration Office to get aResidence Certificate. Was told, “Boss says no more. Please go to Transport Office and talk to then.” So looks like another long trip to Lipa Noi.
  3. I like the way that in that photo, not only is she pointing at a pair of sunglasses, but they have put a red box around them. Is that to show what they look like? Or to distract us from the fact they have put her passport ID on show? I wonder. As an aside, Alistair McQueen (MCQ) designer sunglasses can easily cost way over $1000.
  4. Or science fact. https://www.dentistrytoday.com/adhesive-detaches-from-the-tooth-when-exposed-to-uv-light/ https://www.rexburgappletreedental.com/blog/curing-light
  5. If you arrive Samui at Seatran Pier, turn left towards Big Buddha, about 50-100 yards turn right into the road to the airport. About 100 yards on the right is Pat Bikes (opposite Sunset Inn). Under five minutes walk from the Seatran Pier.
  6. Don't know if this has been mentioned, as I haven't read the whole thread, but something else to consider seeing you are travelling a lot: Will they give your visa or extension straight away? I renewed my extension last month here in Samui and was told to return to collect my passport eight days later.
  7. I wonder if he has any investments in this new industry? Big business will soon take over the whole thing. Too much money to be made. There are now more weed shops than 7-11's where I live.
  8. it depends on the safe. I have managed to put my laptop in some hotel safes, in others it won't fit. My 11" ipad normally fits OK. They are not really secure, but apart from carrying it all day, what can one do? The only thing I have thought of is to take a photo of the computer and other contents in the safe as proof that they were indeed put there. Most theft from hotel safes is usually staff.
  9. BTW. ICYDK some Netspeak abbreviations can convey some similar feelings. If you stop them too, I will be thinking to myself HS! <deleted>! I won't know whether to ROTFL or CMEO. Anyway . GTG. HAND.
  10. Nearest I could come up with was CD-Oph Eye drops Sterile.
  11. 95 took leave on the same day? And no one said no? How do they get any work done?
  12. Google Eye drops, then click on images. You might find it there. To be honest, if I were you, I would change clinic. I see you might already be going there, but I can highly recommend Rutnin Eye Hospital. As it says on the tin, they only do eyes. Where better to go? Will probably be cheaper than Bumrungrad too.
  13. Yes. I believe for any company pension the recipient has to put next of kin or who he/she wishes any payment to go to on his/her death. If he hasn't done that, she might be out of luck.
  14. Many Thais flee the scene of accidents. Its often in the news here. In fact, when I first came here, I was told that if I was ever involved in, or saw an accident involving a Thai, to not stop, because I would either be attacked by the locals, or blamed as a farang. Heartless, but it seems she was just doing what many Thais do
  15. I had already edited my post to say Not Government. Perhaps different companies have different rules for the death of a spouse. I may be wrong as I left the company I worked for many years ago, but pretty sure they just offered one year's pension. Either way. It is worth the widow checking to see if her husband was in receipt of a company pension.
  16. Not government, but it may be that he has a company pension. Some offer the widow of a deceased recipient a payment from any existing pension. That would be the first thing I would look for. Then contact either the old employer or his pension payer.
  17. If you look at the photo. He has his hand on his chest, checking to see if his chain is still there.
  18. + 1 for OneMoreFarang's suggestion. Send it to your own bank first. Then get the FET. Then send to developer. If it is off plan. Certainly don't give the developer the lot up front. Rather staged payments at agreed levels of completion. Lots of cowboys out here.
  19. Even now, it still hasn't been put down. Only sent to be look after by "kind people".
  20. Samui is now full of long staying Russians. So much so that someone in the property rental business told me they don't have enough property to keep up with demand. The international schools now have a large contingent of Russian children and the shopping malls and gyms are full of them. One even told a friend that living here is like being in Russia, but by the sea. Nothing wrong with that. I wouldn't want to be there with all the economic sanctions biting or the threat of being called up to fight a war.
  21. Don't worry. If Putin has another call up for his expected Spring offensive, there will be another surge of long stay Russian tourists.
