  1. A Tokay. Beautiful. Looks like a young one. They have a strong bite apparently.
  2. Bloodline? Getting a bit above themselves there. That sentence could put a few noses out of joint in certain places we can't mention.
  3. I prefer Earl Grey for my afternoon tea with my cucumber sandwiches with the crust cut off old chap.
  4. I don't think a VPN will stop ads on Youtube. There might be some software or a payment option to stop them.
  5. Shouldn't be too difficult to track down the person that borrowed the car. Oh wait! "I don't know his name. It was someone I met in a bar."
  6. When I try heating pies, they go very dry. Do you spray them with oil?
  7. Register for Wise. Even if you don't use it all the time, It's handy to have it for sending money because of the good exchange rate and the speed of transfer. the time of day you make the transfer can affect the spped, but get it right and it is in seconds. https://wise.com/register/?redirectUrl=%2Fsend%23%3Famount%3D1000%26sourceCurrency%3DUSD%26targetCurrency%3DTHB%26fixedTarget%3Dfalse%26guaranteedFixedTarget%3Dfalse%26paymentOptionType%3DDIRECT_DEBIT&country=TH#/email Here is a screen shot taken just now to transfer GBP10,000 to THB. Obviously the exchange rate will be changing all the time, but this was just now. You can lock in a rate for two hours as well.
  8. What if you remove all holdings from Bitkub and store them on a hard wallet? Where does that leave you? Also I noticed that if you make an error filling in the questionnaire, you cannot go back to alter it.
  9. It was the Full Moon Party earlier this week. Give it a few more days for another big jump. At least this seems to be the milder variant.
  10. Prior to Covid there was a similar project going on here in Samui. The pandemic seems to have put a stop to it for the foreseeable future.
  11. I suppose it depends on the parents. Not only what type of education they want for their children, but also what they can afford. Besides temple and government schools teaching a Thai curriculum, there are many International schools here, both good and bad. All teaching according to various internationally recognised curriculums: US, European, UK etc. Some with amazing facilities, far better than I ever had at grammar school in the 70's. If you have the money, I have read (although it may be wrong) that the two best ones are Pattana and NIST. Both in Bangkok. We are very happy with the education our little one is receiving in a small international school. More importantly, she loves it there and looks forward to going each day.
  12. I agree. The Thais call them Jak a Jaan (my spelling). They start around this time of year. Can get very loud. Here is some info on them: https://www.khaosok.com/national-park/cicada/ One with David Attenborough: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M_xVF45cFgU
  13. Maybe now with Covid there are less people, but when I went there about ten years ago, tourists were like ants climbing all over it. Almost impossible to take a photos without them in it. And that was early in the morning. It seems like everyone had the same idea.
  14. I have used Thai twice in the last five months to return to the UK. Mainly because they were the only direct flight. Went well both times.

Maybe get a certificate of residence from immigration. You will need to take tour passport and blue or yellow housebook.
  16. Looks like the cat is well and truly out of the bag here now. A far cry from those early days of single digit numbers. But it was bound to happen once the doors were opened once more to tourists. I am the only one in our household not to have caught it yet. Fingers crossed it stays that way.
  17. Are swimming lessons even part of the Thai school curriculum? Because without it, I doubt many children will get the opportunity to learn to swim. Especially in the poorer parts of the country. It's something all children should be taught. Even if just a basic breaststroke. Enough to maybe get them out of trouble
  18. Do you not have a Thai bank account? Quite easy to Pay on Lazada app via bank transfer. I know the Lazada Wallet used to be restricted for foreigners and I was always getting refused for that reason, but a few months ago I got accepted. so maybe try applying again.
  19. Plus you don't get the staff following you around as if you are a shoplifter.
