Flown Thai BKK-LHR-BKK the last two trips because EVA wasn't flying due to Covid, and Thai were the only other non-stop option. Flights were OK. Mainly due to the fact they were half empty, so I could stretch out and sleep across three seats. Aircraft interiors looked a bit jaded. Passing through business class, it didn't look a patch on EVA's. I much prefer EVA for their service, new aircraft and departure/arrival times. Been using them for almost thirty years. They are owned by a large Taiwanese conglomerate, so less chance of going bust. Depart BKK after midnight. Landed in London on Thai at 6am, and hotel room not available until 2pm wasn't nice after a long journey from Samui via Bangkok. EVA normally departs BKK at a more civilised 13:50 and arrives LHR around 18:30 or 19:30 depending on time of year (time difference). Get to hotel in the evening,c heck in and sleep.

Red Bull Heir Escapes Cocaine Charge, Only Reckless Driving Charge Left
phetphet replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Does this mean he can run for office after 2027? -
Not necessarily. People can have several mild heart attacks and carry on as normal until a big one hits them. Why take the risk? Go and see a doctor. A self taken ECG is not going to be anywhere near as accurate as a 12 lead ECG Hope you haven't put your new Thai GF in your will. There might be something in your coffee.

Air Hostess job : Could it be a scam?
phetphet replied to 2long's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
I suspect scam. I think there would be several mass interviews and skill tests, photos taken, makeup inspections etc., in Bangkok long before anyone got anywhere near a job offer. Let alone a job offer in Dubai. The large number of applicants would be gradually whittled down by a process of elimination to a select few. Those would then be sent to be trained. They are not going to be incurring the costs to fly girls to Dubai when most of them will not be up to their required standards. A girl I know went for an interview here for one of the lost cost airlines a few years ago, and even they were quite intensive. -
Drop In Concrete Masonry Anchors in Thailand?
phetphet replied to OneMoreFarang's topic in DIY Forum
Its been a long while since I used them, but I think we used to call them Hilti drop in anchors. That was the name of the manufacturer of both the anchors and the drill and drill bits though. https://www.hilti.co.th/content/dam/documents/a2/th/catalog-2018-2019/6.1 Chemical Anchor.pdf -
Beware! Blocking An Ambulance Carries Heavier Penalty Than You Think
phetphet replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I don't know if its selfishness, inexperience, or just petrified by those flashing lights and sirens coming up behind. Its almost an automatic reaction in me now to move out of the way or pull over for an emergency vehicle with lights and sirens going. Be it police, fire engine or ambulance. -
KK WEBCARD ...Is it still active ?
phetphet replied to david555's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Click on the K-Online Debit Card. Then click on the "See More" written in small green letters. It shows more information there if you have a card. You can see it in your cut and paste, above the red rectangle in your last post -
Is going solar even possible here?
phetphet replied to unblocktheplanet's topic in Alternative/Renewable Energy Forum
There are plenty of people on this site using solar. Try and find bandersnatch's posts and blog. Titled something like "Building an Eco House in Thailand." An interesting read. As far as not wanting a room full of batteries, if you want to go fully off grid, you will need them to overcome shortages due to cloudy days etc. Unless of course you choose the "import from the grid" road. -

He has already started. The Ukrainians are already using them for internet. That's what upset the Russians after they attempted destroying the Ukrainian internet and Musk stepped in with his satellite system. -

Two naked bodies found in shallow grave in Chokchai district, Korat
phetphet replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
Everywhere. Not just Thailand. Have you seen the reports of several bodies turning up as Lake Mead's water level drops due to drought? More expected to be found as it drops further. -
What could possibly be more important? Aiding someone hit by a car you are in? Or attending a meeting?

Its all currencies. Not just USD. I have been caught out many times with both SuperRich chains refusing £50 notes. Had to wait until my next trip home to put them back in the bank. Tried all sorts of chemicals without success trying to remove ink marks. Even started a thread here to ask for suggestions. I think they must be afraid of getting stuck with damaged or marked notes by whoever takes them from the exchanges. The only other suggestion is maybe swap them with a compatriot who is returning to the U.S.

2 Thai beaches make top 20 list of most beautiful beaches in the world
phetphet replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I stayed in a resort on Sunrise Beach a few times around twenty odd years ago. Only three or four resorts on there then. Stunning white curve of sand, but most coral was already dead or dying due to longtail boats that motored up and down or anchored off the beach. Since then Koh Lipe has become really built up. Another clubby "must do" destination for the gap year crowd, and Sunrise is full of hotels and resorts. It still looks nice, but like everywhere that gets built up, never as beautiful as it was. -
Thai GF's 9 year old daughter speaks native English without any accent, but her mother says she speaks Thai with a foreign accent. Despite having only ever lived in Thailand and going to a Thai nursery school. I told her thats because she mainly speaks to her in English. I did tell her to always speak to her in Thai, but we always use English at home, and most of her friends converse in English or French. Sent her at 6 years old to a french school, and have been told she speaks french like a native. Well, as good an almost 10 year old can speak. Still a ways to go. She is now having extra curricular Thai lessons, and should end up tri lingual. Plus she speaks to her grandma on the phone in whatever their Isaan dialect is. She also wants to learn Spanish once she starts secondary school. She tells me that when playing online games with other children, they often don't believe that she is not from the UK.
