  1. Makes it tough to catch her in a fib, eh? Maybe her campaign slogan should be "Ask me no questions and I'll tell you no lies".
  2. Stupid answer of the day here! Please post the definition of ignorant. Not the pejorative or the insult. The definition.
  3. I didn't follow the progress of the storm after it made landfall. Did it fizzle out, or did it continue west? I think the rain that Crossy's map is showing over the Laos/Myanmar border is the remnants of the storm that hit land near Hanoi. But I'm not even sure of the topography from there. It could be big trouble in a week or so... BTW, when we operated offshore oil platforms off of Songkhla, I found Windy.com to be a better forecast than the high dollar weather service we paid for.
  4. Seriously? He dissed every Marvel movie. I agree with him on a lot of them. But I at least started watching them, even if I didn't make it through the first half hour of many.
  5. By definition, if you know nothing of Bautista, you're ignorant. Nothing wrong with that. We're all ignorant of 99.9% of the world we live in and the people in it. But, to be proud of it?
  6. Good info. If they were pleased when the airline gave them 300 SEK (26 EUR) instead of 100 SEK (8 EUR), then 600 EUR should ease the sting somewhat.
  7. What's the criteria for the 600 EU? Does a 4-6 hour delay trigger it? I'm curious, not dubious. Almost need a scorecard to see what went on. Best I can figure, their flight was cancelled and the passengers who had booked and paid for their tickets through other airlines were able to find help and get rebooked, while 30 passengers who booked (and paid) through Thai Airlines couldn't find a Thai counter to get help. It's also not clear whether it was a Thai Airlines flight that was cancelled, or a codeshare flight. (Edit: Am I missing something? I've been wrong before...) Irritating as it is, that's largely the nature of international flying nowadays. I've had similar happen to me about once every 20 journeys, especially with codeshares. Sucks, and I hope they do get fairly compensated... But not tragic.
  8. The problem, of course, is that the majority of their customers are dinosaurs, too. Not much good can come of building more EV's than they can sell at a price where they can make a profit.
  9. Why would an Asian doctor take an oath referring to Greek mythological characters?
  10. Why would you expect him to walk back something he didn't say?
  11. The only time I pulled out the iron in Thailand was to add reflective doodads to my walking and bike riding clothes, so I could be seen after dark. And a few times to iron my dress shirts for a company or professional event. For every day? Nope.
  12. Americans won't do the work, or they won't do it for the same wages that illegals will?
  13. That may be true, but you have made some false statements about who can get an SSN. That doesn't help your argument.
  14. "There is a principle which is a bar against all information, which is proof against all arguments and which cannot fail to keep a man in everlasting ignorance - that principle is contempt prior to investigation."
  15. That, too, is about as profound as the OP's question...
  16. So now you're critiquing movies you haven't bothered to watch?
  17. I've never encountered a group so proud to be ignorant.
  18. Bond villain and Drax from Guardians of the Galaxy, among dozens of other roles. https://screenrant.com/dave-bautista-roles-ranked/ You'd have to not be paying attention to not know who Bautista is, in any country that has talkies.
  19. If you are authorized to work in the USA by DHS, you can get an SSN. In fact, you need an SSN to work legally. With all the programs available today for asylum seekers, that means that illegals who have been paroled into the USA and have received permission to work, can get an SSN.
  20. My post isn't aimed at him. It's aimed at people who come to AN for valid visa information. Normally, I remind people that it's my experience and YMMV, but I got lazy. Frankly, I don't understand why the Mods allow such misinformation to stand. It doesn't do anyone any good, and destroys the forum's credibility and value as an information source.
  21. That's news to me. I've entered Thailand 16 or 17 times in a row, on visa exempt. Once a month since April, 2023. I fly in to BKK and stay a few days each visit. I'll post back if I ever do get knocked back or called aside for extra scrutiny, but so far it's been all smiles and stamped in. So I'm pretty sure it's not the number of entries causing the issue.
  22. He also ignored submarine warfare and the atrocities committed by the Japanese. It was a 2.25 hour chat, not an 8 semester history class. I think what really got him (and Carlson) in trouble was their discussion of the deleterious effects of unfettered immigration. But the left couldn't argue that one on the merits. Carlson and Cooper are right on that one. So they called him a holocaust denier, and nobody's allowed to listen to holocaust deniers about anything, even their Mom's recipes. What's telling here in this thread is the number of guys who adopted a position based on a few out of context soundbites, and make an argument against the guy without even listening to what he actually said. That's why the MSM is so dangerous. They say anything often enough and the lefties will fight you to the death (and vote) based on those soundbites.
  23. I doubt we'd even notice the difference. It's not as if Biden was running anything the past 3-1/2 years.
  24. You've never heard of strategic ambiguity? That's why Putin didn't attack Ukraine on Trump's watch like he did on Obama's and then Biden's. There's no telling what the crazy bad orange man would have done... Obama and Biden were absolutely predictable.
  25. When are you expecting the water from the storm around Hanoi? Or will that all go elsewhere, beside Bangkok?
