..... because rich people never want more money 😆

Possibly paid by the cattle farmers lobby group. I remember when the tobacco lobby was paying people to claim health benefits for smoking. Similar to the oil lobby paying for 'research' into the environment.

Thailand businesses urged to adopt same-day delivery strategies
Kinnock replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I saw this in Korea .... requires hundreds of local warehouses, high pressure tactics with delivery drivers and massive funding from venture capital to make it work. Not viable for a business that needs to make profits. -
Tommy Robinson Arrested in Kent Under Terrorism Act

It's £29k income or an orange life jacket and a sob story. -
There's so many bikes for sale here, why not wait until you arrive? Then you can see it, test ride it, and transfer ownership to yourself. Also, good condition newer bikes with a green book are often so close to the cost of a new bike it's not worth the hassle of buying used.

Recommendation for Motorcycle boot for needed ankle support
Kinnock replied to Rhys's topic in Motorcycles in Thailand
Motocross boots have the best ankle support. Paddock has a good range, with the O'Neil boots being available in Falang sizes at a decent price. I found them to be too stiff for normal riding, and walking is not easy, so not ideal for everyday use. I went for 'adventure' boots in the lower style from Forma - which have a bit less support, but you can walk in them. I still needed to swap the gear change lever for a longer one to accommodate the bigger/stiffer boot. To be honest, I only use them for long rides, as they are hot and heavy and make gear changes a less natural process. So most rides I use some motorcycle specific 'high-top' trainers. They have some protection for toes and ankles, but nowhere near the standard of the Forma Adventure boots or a motocross boot. -
Bought a new X-Trail 4x4 six years ago - it's been an excellent car. Very smooth ride, comfortable, quiet, spacious, reliable - great for long drives, OK off road, and has high equipment levels. But no longer available in Thailand as production shifted from Thailand to Japan. So even without the concerns about the company, I'd need to look at Honda, Mazda, Subaru (until year end) to get an equivalent 4×4 unibody SUV. Or pay much more for an imported BMW or Mercedes, or, more likely, move to a truck based SUV.

Outrageous that members of a religious minority group are not allowed to fight with armed police who are trying to protect the public from extremist members of the same religious group. The demonstrators are understandably upset that their friends were unable to exercise their immunity from assault laws in the UK. In a less developed country like Thailand people get arrested and deported for assaulting armed police ..... how uncivilised!

How AI is testing the boundaries of human intelligence
Kinnock replied to CharlieH's topic in IT and Computers
The joke is not too far from the truth. I use AI tools at work, and it needs the input of thousands of humans to review and classify images to 'teach' the AI to do it's job. It's just developing rules then regurgitating the results. I don't see any signs of 'intelligence', just machine learning on a huge scale. The way ChatGPT has consumed enough rules about language to process internet searches into natural sounding speech has created the false impression of intelligence. -
I use Chaindrite Stedfast - it's sold as a concentrated insecticide for termite treatment, but it's also good for cockroaches. Available from Thaiwatsadu, Homepro etc. Need a pressure sprayer, mask, goggles .... don't spray near food. Spray around the edges of rooms, under fittings, into extract fan ducts, down service ducts, bin stores etc, do not mop floor for a few days. Spray again after a couple of weeks to kill the newly hatched nymphs. It has a residual effect, so it works for a few weeks after spraying. I also put it down the drains around the house and Spray the entrance steps etc. You'll see the dead roaches the next morning.

Expats angry at huge concessions in latest Thai visa announcements
Kinnock replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I've got permanent residence, it wasn't cheap and had to use several forests of paper and pass a Thai speaking test, and I can confirm I'm not angry about the new visa rules. -

Thai PM Launches Project to Transform Thailand into Financial Hub
Kinnock replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
None of the ambitions for 'hubs' will succeed while Thailand has such poor levels of English language. -
Is Erin Isabelle Burnett the sexiest woman alive today?
Kinnock replied to GammaGlobulin's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
He'll no. In my totally unbiased opinion, my Missus is the hottest woman I've seen. Thailand has many cute teenagers, but women who are still hot past their teens are less common. -
Yes to all ....... except ketchup on pizza ..... noooooo! Had many pizzas totally ruined because I was too late with the 'mai ow sauce', and only remembered when the multi-barrel ketchup gatling gun starts spurting red spunk all over my pizza!

You can get a taxi driver to turn on his meter. You argue with Google Maps because you knew a quicker route. You don't hold on when riding a motorcycle taxi. You've finally realised that not every Thai girl is a tattooed prostitute from Isaan.

I think you're right .... but speaking Thai is not the whole answer. Many tend to panic at the sight of a Falang as they think it's going to be a difficult interaction, so even speaking Thai still elicits the knee-jerk 'mai mee' response.

Thai FM Denies Banks' Involvement in Myanmar Arms Sales
Kinnock replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Never believe anything until you get the official denial. -
My Thai is pretty good, and while I don't get 'no have' I get 'mai mee' instead.
