  1. I'm one of those that loves Thai food and not a huge fan of the foreign food I've had in Thailand. Isan food to be specific is the category that has a lot of my favorite dishes. I never get sick of Nam Tok Moo with sticky rice or Yum Moo Yang and the spicier the better. It's very hard to get them to make it as spicy as I like it but occasionally they do and I'm very happy. I also love Thai soups, Bah Mi with red pork and wontons, the pork blood soup, Kuaitiao. I really enjoy all these dishes much more than any other non-Thai food that's available to me.
  2. Article says he was an architect but that's most likely just a cover, he's probably former SAS, Navy Seal, Marine and Secret Service like a lot of the foreign expats in Thailand seem to be. Seems like a pretty clear case of self defence but this isn't America where you can shoot someone in some states just for walking threateningly towards you, not if they are Thai anyway. I can understand them having to investigate if excessive force was used. Like if the Thai was beaten to death while already unconscious and tied up.
  3. It's not gonna be combined with the ticket price? If it is, families will not notice or care.
  4. He'll have to serve a minimum number of years here before possibly having the chance to be deported and serve the remainder in the US.
  5. I asked around out of curiosity and was quoted 40k for 1 year plus 18k for the switch to a 3 month Non-O, so 58k for 15 months.
  6. Thais are not really known for being great tippers. The drivers always seem surprised when I tip them.
  7. Just your passport, everything needed was taken on September 2nd.
  8. Nobody ever judges trends based on the last 3 days. Also, hospitalizations, people on ventilators and deaths continue to drop daily. Those are the numbers that matter right now and going forward.
  9. Nice, isn't it? Shipped my last one off to Dubai and couldn't be happier.
  10. She also might not have to repay any remaining "debts" she still owes to the traffickers in Denmark who brought her to the massage parlor and most likely held on to her passport which also could be attributing to her happiness.
  11. Just put #1 as the covid situation is still ongoing. They could care less what reason you put to be honest, as long as you have everything filled out and the 1900 baht and photo etc...
  12. They are right, he is not above the law and has to be isolated if positive. I don't think Samui has a home isolation program that would be able to accommodate him. Obviously shouldn't have taken his passport though but yes, if you don't pay your hospital bill, you can expect to be deported in many countries or have your visa cancelled or not able to renew. Wonder what he is "volunteering" for now after his restaurant went out of business. If it's like all the other volunteers that suddenly popped up after the borders closed, then he shouldn't be bringing attention to himself if he wants to stay in Thailand.
  13. I tried to extend it today and they refused and said to come back on the 27th. My permission to stay expires at the end of next month.
  14. Whenever an AirBNB owner cancels it lists it under reviews along with how many days before the booking they cancelled so that way you know when an owner is canceling often.
  15. Yeah AirBNB can be pretty <deleted>ty and the prices are very inflated from what you can get by searching in person but you can find some hidden gems for fair prices sometimes. I think not giving the exact location is a privacy thing but it's easy to tell in Pattaya from the photos or they'll even say it in the listing most times. honeyscoffeehouse.com does one month or shorter rentals at VT6 which is the most central condo you can get. They list on AirBNB or you can book directly, I'd send them an email rather than go by the prices/availability on their website. If you don't care about being central JP Unixx has many fair priced units at Unixx for a fair price but some of their units are pretty tiny. They also list on AirBNB or they have an office right in the front of the Unixx condo building.
  16. I received email confirmation of the vaccination date change and a copy of my updated booking appointment slip. They also added: For your information, currently there will be no allocation of COVID-19 vaccination in our hospital for the AstraZeneca in October 2021 onwards. Hence, we encourage you to complete your vaccination as per your new schedule.
  17. I didn't see any announcement either. Apparently they are planning to send an SMS soon to confirm the changed date so as long as your number hadn't changed, you would know but not as much notice.
  18. I checked and my date for the second vaccination on the Mor Prom app has been changed from October 12th to September 28th. Emailed them to confirm.
  19. Pattaya is part of Chon Buri province which still has around 1000 cases a day. You can't lower the zone of just Pattaya (Banglamung).
  20. Most likely being used as a "Hospitel" rather than it being actual tourists.
  21. I will never knowingly rent from a Chinese owned condo. They seem to be the most worn down, broken, badly managed and badly reviewed units of everything I've seen.
  22. I was thinking it might be a scare tactic or they'll just disable sending money internationally since that's what seems to have triggered all this <deleted>. I deleted the app anyway but if people say it's still working at 711 which is all I used it for, I might reinstall it.
  23. She has been selling/delivering sometimes off Facebook https://www.facebook.com/FalafelPattaya If that's the one you mean.
