Study shows about 15 percent of Thai students are prone to suicide
kingstonkid replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The challenge for many of the kids is out of their control. They are told they can do anything. Parents set high standards by telling their friends how smart their kids are. The schools blow smoke up their rectum telling them they passed and fudging the numbers. Then reality bites and they apply to top tier university and crash and burn. Schools need to be honest also teach students skills. Cooking make up electronics carpentry automotive. Give them a means of learning a trade or skill. -
Thai police assess potential threats to APEC Summit
kingstonkid replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Actually, the threat level is lower, considering that non of the big names are coming. The big issue will be the greenies, and social justice woke yahoos, but I think the Thai military and police are ready for them with all the Thai protests they have worked for practice. -
I know a lot of businesses are doing the work at home. I know that the street around Queen Sirikit is closed as well as the MRT station stop. What else is open or closed? Is everything else like BTS and malls and shops still running as normal

Dividend tax from own company?
kingstonkid replied to Asheron's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
If you have employees they have to be paid Taxes and SS have to be paid to the government. If you are paid be it wage dividend housing car it makes no diffy the Thai government wants it's share. Also if you are in country and doing work then you need a permit. If not you are an outside contractor and your kids have to take payment for the job then pay you the agreed co tract price. As has been suggested recommend talking to a lawyer. -
They have it partially right, as to shut off the AC I am not sure, but looking at Most streets in BKK Pats the simple solution would be to a. get rid of the neon jungle b. mandate that office buildings have a shutdown and turn on the system. All Power except emergency is shut off in office buildings and offices at 7 pm and turned back on at 6 am c. temporarily shut down the big tv ad screens Peak usage time is a bit of a joke. Peak usage in parts of a city is completely different than in others. NANA peak usage is 5 pm to 2 am Residential BKK it is from 5 - 9 at night People are starting to realize that going green is a great thing on paper, but in reality, it is a non-starter at this stage. You need fossil fuels to power the generation of energy. The only country that is making any gains in green energy is China. Not because they are going green but because they are fleecing the rest of the world with their technology.

High-end hotels that are out of most of our budgets https://www.minor.com/en/businesses/minor-hotels The problem for hotels like this is not that there is a lack of tourists it is that there needs to be more people willing to pay his prices. Really does not affect most of us here we will just book rooms through our Thai partners.

Maybe I am naive but I think there is a difference between co habitation and shacking up. It's definitely rare for a Thai and foreigner to share an apartment or house To But shacking up is not that rare.

Take Silom off any list you have it is still dead You might want to take them to the NANA Entertainment area just to see what it looks like. Hillary's is still good. The Game is a great sport bar good food If your friends like to swim and enjoy the beach then most definitely I would take them to samed for a couple of days or if you and the wife want to get away to a quiet spot. Pattaya I would recommend either Alcazar (just don't tell them before hand)

Gen Prayut Can Move to Another Party – Gen Prawit
kingstonkid replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Prayut CAN NOT run for PM so is looking to be a party head. PPP knows the writing is on the wall for a lot of them so they are going to rebrand. The not-so-funny thing is that after the election both of these parties will join together to form an alliance if they think either one can form the government. Since the fall of the Dem Party and the PT party, this country has had many parties with names so that people that are rich can feel Important and make money. -
How much time do you spend in the tourist parts
kingstonkid replied to kingstonkid's topic in Pattaya
The question was for those that live in Pattaya. However, the haters have to jump in. The Pattaya nightlife is what it is some like it some hate it. What I am talking about is the people that live in Pattaya. Much like in Toronto and Yonge street Las Vegas and the Vegas strip. People that live in these cities unless they have people come to visit from out of town or work there shy away from those areas. I am wondering if Pats is the same -
Weread a lot about how bad Pattaya is with the girls and walking and bars. Just wondering what Pattaya is for the average expat.

Artisi you need to take a walk in NANA Patpong or walking street. People are on the sidewalk selling to anyone they can and they do not check ID. I have no problem with legitimate boxed stores that can be regulated and checked for confirmation it is the pop-up stores in the back of trucks or on the street that have no regulations that are the issue. The idea of making something legal and then thinking about promoting rules about it was and still is the stupidest thing. Somchai goes to NANA and wants to buy a few grams of weed. Then goes to school or outside the school area and sells to other students. This forum promotes it with advertising online access to purchases. If an 8-year-old can get dad's credit card to add to their game minutes or whatever do you think a teen or younger could not use it for weed purchases onlline

Your nostalgia is yours Please do us all a favour and place your politics in the famous orifice with no sunshine. Your story about family and things are great your social commentary leaves a great deal to be desired. When it comes to riots and large crowds it is almost impossible to stop them once they start. These are not groups that show up one or 2 at a time. The problem is not the police it is the area where these things happen and the fact that organizers using physical buildings have very few egresses,
