PM Paetongtarn Dubbed 'Dad-Supported' by Reporters
kingstonkid replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Eventually the strings will get cut and it will not be a good look. Then again what is the difference between dad doing it and Jill doing it for Joe. LOL -
What does legality have to do with it? It is a pain but as the OP said they probably had a few people in mind that were causing issues. This is one way to keep the property values up and get rid of the riff raff.

And you don't think that even if they outlaw it that it will not still exist int he communities. Take a look at the U.S Polygamy is an aoffcne then go to Utah and a few Mormon areas and see the number of families. Hell they have even done reality and tv shows abut it on national networks -
Teen Pregnancy Sparks Family Feud at Thai Hospital: Legal Battle Looms
kingstonkid replied to snoop1130's topic in Isaan News
I may be reading this wrong, but it sounds like the boy's family owned the house they were living in. Dowries, while in some cases, they are not that important, in this case, they could be very well. We all know that Thai males can not be trusted to stay faithful. Especially an 18-year-old. The family is poor, and if the boy does a runner, then the girls and family are left with nothing, The gold, more so probably than the money, is to ensure that the daughter has a chance to raise the child properly the money again looks after the baby if he is not able to provide. I am willing to bet that when the cops come to arrest him, he will be more than willing to pay. -
Thailand to Train 7,000 Massage Therapists Amid Industry Shortage
kingstonkid replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I think the idea might be to have them in hospitals although I agree I do not see or know many massage therapists that make 20k. That is 800baht a day on a 6 day work week. Seems a little high and I can imagine the cost for a simple massage However I d know who is gong to enjoy this and that is all the elite that own or have their fingers in Massage schools. -
Supermodel recalls surviving 2004 tsunami after 20 years
kingstonkid replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
It sure didn't take long to rebuild the area. I have to wonder how many of the tourists there know what happened on that day. Also sort of wonder how many Thais remember or have been told about it. -
No I am not saying O Henry was humbug However I thinkyou need to re read teh story especially the last part. The meaning is lost on you. Christmas is a time for Christians to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. We usually do that for a couple of hours in church. It is a time to remember that this man was born to spread the word of God and possibly ALLAH. Buddhists believe that Bhudda did this as well. It is a time for families to get together and enjoy a meal as best they can afford. Much the same as people do at Chinese New year, Ramadan, and Hannaka. It is also a time for children. To me, as a child, there was nothing more enjoyable than waking up and going out to see what was under the tree that Santa, my parents, and my grandmother had bought me. Then after opening all the presents heading out to play hockey with my friends using the new sticks [ucks and skates that we usually got. Talking about the hauls we made out with. As an adult Christmas was always abut giving to others. The look on a family when we would drop off a Christmas hamper with a turkey and stuff so that a deserving family would have a great Christmas. As a parent, it was the look on my daughter's face when she opened her presents and found things that she thought she would not get. Then going to her grandparents to celebrate Christmas with her aunts uncle, and cousins, Here in Thailand, it is the looks that I got and the enjoyment that kids had when they woke up and found a present on the fence. The looks were not in anger but in joy, and they were trying to convince me to admit that I did it. To celebrate Christmas is easy. It shouldn't matter the price of the gift but that they gift was given and he meaning behind it. For many there are reasons that Christmas may not be as bright BUT I will guarantee that if you look at the good in people you will see the blessing of christmas

UK & Thai Police Partner to Enhance Custody Conditions in Thailand
kingstonkid replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
The challenge to making any changes like that is money. The powers that be would have to build brand new facilities for prisoners, which would take up more land space. There is no land available to build or renovate the IDC. Then again, the only people that go there are those that serve it, and they want out of the country ASAP. Imagine if they gave 3 squares and a cot. I think a lot of people would want to stay there permanently versus going back to their native country penny and homeless. Imagine 3 hots and a cot versus living on the streets in the UK. Which would you choose? Concerning the prisons again, maybe they could cut down the numbers, but again, these are not supposed to be country clubs. To me the harsher the penalties the more of a deterrent. Land and what to do with prisoners while renovating is a huge issue. Let's sort out the easy spots first and get the police precincts in order. Then if some country wants to give the Thai people money they can build a bright shiny new prison. -

Who Is Controlling the Budget Bill? Trump, Johnson, or Musk?
kingstonkid replied to John Drake's topic in Political Soapbox
The one thing you have to give the DNC credit for is that when they need to vote together, they do so. They fight it out beforehand but come to vote as organized units in the room.dd party, and even the squad falls in line. The GOP is a clown show, with this supposed GOP group crewing everything up and not listening to the adults in the room and they guy that got them elected. The solution is to put one fo the clowns in charge and see how life is really. -

I have been diabetic for more than 20 years. I take care of myself through diet. See a doctor every 3 months, get my meds, and keep going. I am still able to gout and have a couple of beers, eat out in restaurants, and have a good time. I have to limit myself. I love cake ice cream and pizza but they are now off my diet as the sugar levels are too high for me. Getting a meter is one thing, but unless you know how to use it and what you need to do for your sugar levels, it is just like giving a 5-year-old a Ferrari. Get your ass to a hospital and see a doctor. There are so many Thais with Diabetes that every doctor knows what to do. Also, the sooner you go, the better. Diabetes can mess up a lot of parts of the body, and yes, people go blind or lose their feet, Which is not only a pain but also a huge financial issue.

Just looking at ESPN, I got to thinking if the Thai government wants to add tourists, they should build for the Champions Cup in Cricket. I know that to the people of N.A. it is not popular but it is in this i of the world and would draw tourists for the event.

Do you flaunt your wealth in Thailand?
kingstonkid replied to GammaGlobulin's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
If you flaunt your wealth here you are only asking for trouble. Better to spend when you need to. I tip well and look after staff. They know I am farang and have money. How much they do not know and that is the way it should be even my other half is unsure how rich or poor I am. -
The big expense that has to be watched in entertainment. Sitting in an apartment can only last so long. The allure of the lights and things will attract you. You don't have to drink alcohol in bars but the ladies charge the same amount. How old are you also matters. WhT ARE YOU GOING TO DO WITH YOUR DAYS.
