Inverter AC vs Non Inverter AC on Solar
Crossy replied to narkeddiver's topic in Alternative/Renewable Energy Forum
IMHO Inverter definitely: - Reduced energy consumption. Importantly for solar, no (or very much reduced) start-up surge. Inverter units did get a bad rep due to being rather less-than-robust when it came to power surges and creature ingress. These issues are largely now solved. -

A quick update. No real surprises, the bank actually knew what was needed 🙂 Did the letter the day before going to immigration and a passbook update on the way there (after withdrawing the $$$ to pay immigration). Interestingly, this year there was no home visit (Pathum were known for visiting every year for marriage extensions) but they still needed a new TM30 address report (I'd left the country earlier in the year, maybe that triggered it). There's also a handy-dandy way to check your application status using Line. Works OK, although it just says "Pending" until the actual approval comes through.

Man Severely Injured Using Hand-held Cutter in Sri Racha
Crossy replied to Georgealbert's topic in Pattaya News
A mate and forum member had a similar incident a few years back, his blade and grinder was a big one! Sliced his leg to the bone when it kicked back! I thought that he posted here about it, but can't find anything. I can't ask him because he passed away in 2022 (from other causes) 😞 Even fully guarded power saws make me nervous! -
Research led by the University of Sheffield installed an off-grid agrivoltaic system in Tanzania and a grid-tied agrivoltaic system in Kenya. They found the installations helped boost crop yield and conserve water while generating electricity at a lower cost than the national grid. Cloud-connected inverters - should we be concerned?
Crossy replied to Crossy's topic in Alternative/Renewable Energy Forum
For those who don't know, Will Prowse runs one of the most popular DIY solar forums in the known universe, he also produces a lot of excellent solar oriented YouTube content. This incident has spooked a lot of users, even those not using Deye inverters. I expect Solar Assistant are laughing all the way to the bank. SA runs quite happily when completely isolated from the internet. -

Cloud-connected inverters - should we be concerned?
Crossy replied to Crossy's topic in Alternative/Renewable Energy Forum
Definitely put the pi near your inverters, then WiFi or ethernet. Long USB cables can be problematic. Pretty sure hardware will ship from the US, or get a pi locally and download the software. -

Pretty much, yes. Have a look at the Solar Assistant website for full details.
