Trolley folly: Tipsy tourists’ wild hotel ride in Koh Phi Phi (video)
Crossy replied to webfact's topic in Krabi News
Zooming in (not a perv, honest), I think it's a trick of the light (shadow of the trolley bars) and my antique eyeballs Besides, if it really was a boob, I'd have to remove it. -

Ah. The Magic and Mystery of Christmas. January 2024 Take down, coil carefully and stow perfectly functional Xmas lights. Place in secure storage (OK the attic). December 2024 Recover lights from the attic. Whilst in storage something (gremlins) has converted my carefully coiled sets into a tangled spaghetti. Half the sets are no longer functional or are only partially functional! Ditch the dead sets and buy more. January 2025 ... Rinse and repeat.

How about a solar car port on a budget?
Crossy replied to Crossy's topic in Alternative/Renewable Energy Forum
Numbers for November 2024. We're definitely not using all our solar potential either from our panels or our storage. I expect that to change when we have our UK visitors over -
(Bloomberg) -- Solar imports from Southeast Asia are being unfairly sold in the US below their production costs, according to initial findings of a Commerce Department review that laid out duties of as much as 271% to counteract the practice. The preliminary determination released Friday marks another victory for US solar panel makers that argued those cheap imports are harming their business and undermining government investments meant to nurture a domestic supply chain. At issue are imports of crystalline silicon photovoltaic cells — and modules made with them — from Cambodia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam, countries which provide the bulk of US supply of that equipment today. Those nations provide the bulk of US solar cell and module imports. The announcement comes nearly two months after the US agency issued preliminary findings from a separate but related probe that the solar imports from Southeast Asia are unfairly benefiting from government aid. The investigations represent the latest bid by US manufacturers to confront overseas rivals. After similar duties were imposed on solar imports from China roughly 12 years ago, Chinese manufacturers responded by setting up operations in other Asian nations that weren’t affected by the tariffs. The US probes were triggered by an April petition from the American Alliance for Solar Manufacturing Trade Committee, which represents companies including First Solar Inc., Hanwha Qcells USA Inc. and Mission Solar Energy LLC. How can I detect if there is electric wiring behind wall?
Crossy replied to Millian's topic in The Electrical Forum
Some light reading https://www.surreytechservices.co.uk/news/what-are-electrical-safe-zones/ -
A wife suspected her husband was having an affair with the housemaid and decided to catch him in the act. On Friday, she told the maid to take the day off. That night, she crept into the maid's room, turned off all the lights, and slipped into the bed in total darkness. As expected, around midnight, she heard footsteps approaching. A figure entered the room and climbed into the bed beside her. After a few passionate kisses, the wife's anger reached its peak. She suddenly turned on the lights and screamed, "Surprised?" The startled chauffeur stammered, "Very much so, ma'am!"

Yup ^^^ And a mulcher/shredder thingy. Small electric ones are not expensive and they chop up the prunings so the bugs can do their stuff. Madam also has a large petrol one, I think she's planning to dispose of bodies!

How can I detect if there is electric wiring behind wall?

As above, a combination of the Mk-1 eyeball (which way do the tubes go from the switch?) and a stud finder should do the trick. Turn off the power if you're still nervous 🙂 -

How about a solar car port on a budget?
Crossy replied to Crossy's topic in Alternative/Renewable Energy Forum
We've had some updates since my earlier post. So, we now have: - 3 x Luyuan 16s x 280Ah packs (the right-hand stack). 2 x Luyuan 16s boxes with "used" 280Ah cells. (left hand side, top row). Frankenpack-1 left side of the bottom shelf which is 3p/4p16s of assorted cells that were "in stock". I spent way too long building matched groups. He's also about 280Ah. Frankenpack-2 right side of the bottom shelf 6p16s of "50Ah" used cells recovered from well used packs, really about 30Ah. All have Seplos V3 BMSs, Frankie 1 & 2 also have 5A flying-capacitor balancers. There's a polycarbonate cover goes on the front to keep the local wildlife and the damp out. So, we have about 1,830Ah => 95kWh of storage. Up top we have 3 x Deye 5kW hybrid inverters running parallel and one Sofar 6kW on-grid feeding the Deye "Gen" input as a micro-grid. Currently, the Deye units are using DeyeCloud. I'm awaiting delivery of an Orange-pi plus bits-n-bobs to run Solar Assistant and get off the net. I was going to do that anyway, eventually, but the latest Deye debacle has prompted me into action. Feeding that lot is 22kWp split between the car-port, patio roof and tool shed roof. Planning to get another 12 x 340W panels up on an extension to the car port. We are running off-grid although we maintain grid power as backup. The bill is usually about 100Baht. When I get one of those Round-Tuit things I'll tidy up the spaghetti, at least until the next round of expansion. -
Sheryl is taking a well-earned break, she'll be back early in December.
