  1. I just charged the beast from flat with my power supply @7.2V, it swallowed 135Wh before the BMS cut off. That's suggesting that a 30W 6V panel is going to be the right beastie.
  2. I was given this EVE floodlight as non-functional. Although it came with two panels neither was the correct one (not even the same connector). It has no rating markings whatever! So, I charged the beast with a power supply. About 7.4V and 2.5A seems to be the sweet spot, charged until the BMS cut off. Light ran for nearly 24 hours (getting pretty dim by the end). So, since it's "a good un" it needs a panel. I suspect a 12V 30W one would do the trick, but ideally one matching the original. Anyone got a light like this and can post the panel details please? Even if the panel is unmarked, we can guesstimate the power rating from its dimensions.
  3. My standard "Green House" and "Pink House" reference photos, for comparison with previous threads. The neighbours have already deployed their "boat", ok, large polystyrene block. Most effective even when loaded with a fat-farang.
  4. I don't want to worry anyone but ...
  5. By popular demand 🙂
  6. Back by popular demand! Last night's high tide at Pak Kret, still in the green at present. Our "worry" level isn't until the top of that concrete beam. Live stream is here http://water.eon-solution.com/waterlevel01/public/live.php Tide table for Bangkok https://www.tide-forecast.com/locations/Bangkok-Thailand/tides/latest the tide at Pak Kret is about 4 hours after the Bangkok table time, another hour after that for it to get to us.
  7. My sense of humour has certainly regressed to that level
  8. One really hopes not. Fear not, the "Bangkok River Level 2024" thread will be started as soon as there's something useful to report. I fear that will be sooner rather than later 😞
  9. Lost a good mate in that one 😞 His wife got out but was seriously injured.
  10. New ticketing machines to enter service on all Bangkok transit lines. It's actually a laundromat in Copenhagen, even so ...
  11. An illustration from the past: -
  12. I just completed this quiz. My Score 100/100 My Time 77 seconds
  13. Once upon a time, the forum software did allow mods to ban themselves (no names of course), at which point one had to beg other mods to let you back in. That bug has now been fixed although I'm not going to test if it really is sorted
  14. Yeah, we used OC71 transistors, scrape of the paint and it became an OCP71. Opaque goop inside replacing the originally used clear goop put a stop to that for us apprentices. As a related aside, our apprentice training school were given several large sacks of "reject" AC128 PNP germanium transistors which went into many of our projects. Get a handful, find ones that actually had two junctions, stick on the curve tracer to check they had at least some gain. Build your audio amp or whatever.
  15. Yellow wire (panel +ve) is pin-2, this panel has no bypass diode and is in the dark (ok, face down).
  16. Take a trip to Zeer Rangsit. Ground floor towards the back.
  17. Shhhhh. It's tomorrow!!
  18. Once we got sorted we were fine, boat to the main road then bus or army truck to the shopping. The highlights were one morning Madam going down to reception (not flooded) to observe the security guy waving his arms at a crocodile which was enjoying the dry area (sadly, no photos). The other highlight was the capture of a drum which floated past, it was half-full of diesel (sadly, our genset was gasoline). Thais are pretty useless at planning, they are incredibly good at coping!
  19. On occasion I really could have used the sand-filled sock, but we just passed the extension between balconies so she could run a couple of lights and her TV She had an annoying yappy dog (now deceased) and never offered us a brass farthing for generator fuel 😞
