  1. Toasted jinjoks surely? Great that it's sorted 🙂
  2. It helps a lot that as a Brit I like cricket and one of my colleagues was a member of Bangalore Cricket Club. This had two bonuses, I got to watch IPL matches for a very small fee (OK I had to buy him dinner) and we could drink beer whilst watching which the masses could not. Bangalore was pretty ok, Hyderabad too, but I hated Mumbai and to a lesser extent Delhi. The less said about Kolkata the better, but the taxi ride to the airport is a story in itself 🙂
  3. A few years back, whilst I was working in Bengaluru (Bangalore), India, there was an article in the Times of India regarding a gentleman who was served his vegetarian lunch on an Indian Railways train. He apparently found some rat in his curry. Of course, he complained, but his complaint wasn't that there was rat in his curry but that his curry wasn't vegetarian!! I did actually enjoy working in India and retain many Indian friends.
  4. A couple of important questions:- Is this your own house or do you rent? If a rental you're going to need permission from the landlord who may want to hold on to your upgrades when you move on. If you need a portable solution then ... What's your (approximate) budget, we don't want to go and specify something that's way outside what you're wanting to spend.
  5. ... and guarantees a soft landing if he comes off Back in the mid 90s I saw a Korean delivery chap in Seoul with a full-size fridge-freezer on a bike, another chap had his bike fitted out to carry glass panes!!
  6. Since you are possibly going to add solar at some point, I'd be looking at one of the many on/off grid hybrid inverters. We have three Deye SUN-5K-SG03LP1-EU 5kW units running in parallel, you would only need one. Should be 35-40k Baht on Lazada, then wait for payday or 11/11 vouchers for further discount. Are you actually using a full 4-6kW all the time? That's a lot of energy and would need a fair size battery pack. For example, our 14kWh Lithium packs cost about 60,000 Baht. You might save some $$$ by going for lead-acid batteries since they'll be running in "standby" most of the time. Can you do a power audit of what you actually need to be running, that would allow you to choose an inverter without going crazy. Also, how many kWh you use during the time when the power might be off. Read your meter at about the time power failures occur and again after 6 hours. That will allow you to size your battery pack. Solar panels are cheap, there's really no reason not to add them if you have space, they will save you money all the time the sun is shining 🙂 You could also consider a generator with an ATS (automatic Transfer Switch). It would likely be a cheaper solution although, of course, it needs fuel and maintenance. EDIT Where in Thailand are you located, I may have something "in-stock" that would suit your purposes for a competitive price. PM me if you wish to remain private 🙂

  10. 20kA is at the low end of what would be considered as "adequate" for a main suppression device, I also believe that the Schneider units only protect L-E rather than L and N to E (I may be wrong here mind). Of course, they are far better than nothing. I would consider adding an 80-100kA 2-pole unit next to your incoming supply (assuming you are single-phase) give it a nice straight, meaty, earth to its own rod if your main rod isn't reasonably accessible. Also, if you have remote buildings, I would add similar 2-pole units at the building incoming locations. You don't have to spend a fortune, there are many suitable units from China in the 500-1000Baht region which won't break the bank. We were also losing LED fixtures more often than I liked, so each one now has a little 6kA beastie in the fitting. They are cheap but do ensure that they can't set anything on fire if they fail!!!! I got a bag of these chaps from NPE ages ago https://www.bourns.com/docs/product-datasheets/mov20d.pdf
  11. Even the best surge protection isn't an absolute guarantee, particularly for a very close strike. What is the kA rating of your surge protectors? Do verify that the "failed" flag isn't showing. You may want to add some of the small, round, surge devices to your LED lights, they are really cheap but do ensure that they're not near anything flammable.
