The RCBO is there for electric shock protection not lightning surge protection. Set it to 30mA, you will be equally safe. I never really understood the logic of these adjustable units, they take up space without adding any real value. A fixed 30mA unit will take up 2 slots rather than the 5 or 6 the adjustable one uses. Anyway, for surge suppression you need something like this; - https://www.lazada.co.th/products/chint-surge-nu6-ii-f-and-g-low-voltage-surge-arrestor-i1639828951-s9345611300.html? If your system is MEN (as it should be here) then the single position one would be fine, if your system is TT (older place) then you need the 2 position one.

Do you have surge protection in your Consumer Unit (distribution board)? If not, I suggest you get some installed. If you don't know, post a photo of your board with the cover open and we can check what you have 🙂

Yeah, it depends which way it ends up going and how much it dumps on Thailand's north. https://www.hurricanezone.org/tracking/pacific-w2.php

At least there won't be any ants in there 🙂

It "should" just need a re-program of the meter, but you can bet they won't do that on-site so a meter swap it will likely be 😞 Were the PEA chaps aware that you already had a digital meter? Maybe they were pricing for a replacement of a spinning-disc unit.

High water today, definitely on the way down. Is it too early to say there's no risk of further flooding in our area?? Pathum Thani Pak Kret

Mid-late 70s, so end-of-life (rust) Beetles with good running-gear were cheap-as-chips. Several co-apprentices built Beetle-based beach-buggies. I was a hairy biker with a pony-tail and zero interest in cars, until I discovered that not all girls liked the ton-up out in the wind and rain -

Second day of the "big" tides, reducing from tomorrow. Level down somewhat on yesterday 🙂 Pathum Thani Pak Kret

High tide today, tomorrow is the same tide level, then we go down. Well up on yesterday but still not really worrying. Pathum Thani Pak Kret

Yeah ^^^, it's a massive "it depends" ... We are 150m from our local wat and it must be occupied by church-mice There's the "wake-up" drum at silly-o'clock pretty brief, roll over and go back to sleep, or get up if the urge takes me, late morning "come to the cookhouse door" drum and there may be a "lights-out" drum but I've usually got my cans on by then to drown out the Thai soaps that Madam watches. Like aircraft noise you get used to it and the brain just filters it out. Maybe two or three "noisy" days a year, but they actually have a decent sound system so, unless you really hate the music, it's not really too bad. Village speakers only get fired up when puyai-baan has something useful to say and that's not every day. To be honest we get more noise from a nightclub a couple of clicks away over the river and that's really only when the wind is wrong.

One positive of a Trump win, after 4 years he won't be able to run again (assuming we're not all glowing piles of dust by then) Either way, win or lose we will still have to put up with him:- Win - he will gloat until the cows come home 😞 Lose - he will whinge about another misappropriated election 😞 As a Brit, I have no horse in this race (other than not wanting to be a pile of glowing dust), I just want the circus to be over.

The "ant powder" is very good at discouraging the creepy-crawlies and it lasts pretty much forever. I doubt you'll stop the really tiny ants (they seem to adore electric fields) from getting in even with foam in the conduit and outlet stoppers.

This post is meaningless without photos!!

Thanks. Any indication of what the units of "Load" are, is it peak, average, something else? Where did you obtain the detail of what that line means??
