  1. I stand corrected, but so long as the comms protocol is supported by the inverter it doesn't really matter.
  2. Hire a man or two 🙂 Or arrange delivery by helicopter But you are right, maybe the smaller packs are more practical.
  3. How about this one from the other thread? https://www.thaisolarsystem.com/product/1162/ชุด-hybrid-ongrid-deye-5k-1-phase-battery-5kwh-พร้อมติดตั้ง Slightly less $$$ and a Deye inverter, definitely worth talking to 🙂
  4. A qualified yes to all. IF you get an inverter that's well supported and can run in parallel. We have 4 x 5kW Deye hybrids running together, they will do everything you want and more, there are offers available on these for as little as 23kBaht on Lazada with vouchers. They are also on the PEA approved inverter list. Do note that a 5kW inverter likely can't support more than 6kWp of panels. You may find that larger battery packs are more economical on a bang-per-buck level (and less wiring needed). Is this going to be a DIY or Contractor install??
  5. This ^^^ Your heater definitely needs an earth even if there's an RCD/RCBO. It also needs an RCBO (it may well have one built in) for extra safety. The water pipe will likely be a good enough earth if there's an RCBO. But ensure it's not part of the fire prevention system, using the fire pipes is an absolute no-no. Do NOT "earth" by linking earth and neutral!!
  6. Looks like a nice installation to start with 🙂 Is the ground bar actually linked to ground? Those siemens MCBs seem to be normal DIN mount units rather than plug-in 🙂 Single-width RCBOs that will fit are available, although not necessarily cheap. This is possibly why a separate RCD/RCBO was used for the kitchen. Do you have a part number for the Siemens units you found? Sadly, it looks like you will have to extend the white neutral wires for the circuits you need to protect, but such is life. Wire colours? "It's what was in the van guv" I would decide which circuits you need to protect with RCBOs and then look at the costs. Certainly, I would do outside lighting and outlets, water heaters, kitchen outlets except for your fridge/freezer.
  7. As you have noted there are literally zillions of suitable devices at various prices available on Lazada. What do you actually want to measure? certainly V, A, W and kWh Do you want it to log usage over time? Do you want Wi-Fi/Bluetooth/RS-485 connectivity so you can link it to your PC, smart device (Alexa etc.) or Home Assistant to analyse the results? Do you want it DIN mount or in a separate standalone box? I would go for one that uses current transformers rather than direct connection, easier to wire and fewer joints to fail/get warm. For brands, I've had good experiences with Chint and Tomzn kit as lower-cost units, of course the big names are there too with suitably big prices.
  8. As with most things here, it's really entirely up to you. A few thoughts. Do you actually need a switch at the pump? A waterproof outlet on the pole may be better. If you do want a switch, would it be better/more convenient at the house end of the cable? Don't "extend" the pump cable, replace it with a suitable length of flexible cable in a conduit to protect it from the weather and UV. I wouldn't run underground unless you use underground rated cable (even if it's in conduit), underground conduit invariably fills with water no matter how carefully we seal the ends. The cable run from the house should be protected by an RCD if your installation doesn't already have one. All good fun 🙂
  9. Yeah, the app does now accept PP numbers, it was along while back that we did ours. I stand corrected 🙂
  10. If you have an old bill for the reference numbers (in order to set it up) try the PEA app 🙂 You will need a "valid" Thai ID, your pink card should work, or your GF/BF ID, failing that there are apps that will generate an ID that works. If you have a Thai bank account you can just scan the QR/bar code, open a fresh account just for these payments if you're paranoid.
  11. Hi, and welcome to the madhouse that is Thai electrics The only "inspection" that is actually required here is the initial MEA/PEA inspection in order to get a permanent meter after construction, after that anything goes, literally (unless you instal solar). When we built our place the inspector had the lid off the CU (actually, I took the lid off, he had no tools), checked that we had an earth rod and MEN connection then spent half an hour gassing with Madam and asking who built our home, he made no actual measurements whatever, it was purely visual. As a UK trained sparks you are probably far better qualified than any of the normal local domestic chaps. There's really no EICR equivalent so any inspection would be for your own peace of mind. There are some excellent Thai sparks but they're all working in O&G or the mega-projects and wouldn't dirty their hands with house bashing 😞 In reality, if you did the job to BS7671 standards and didn't use ring-finals on 32A MCBs you're really good to go**. If you really want a local to go over it, then trot over to your local MEA/PEA office, they usually have guys who are not averse to a bit of moonlighting (ask the supervisor who they recommend). ** If you did use rings, split them about half way and put each half on a 20A MCB, safe as far as the Thai unfused 16A outlets are concerned and you get an extra 8A as a bonus 🙂
  12. Visble progress this week. We should get the tiles up next week and possibly the maintenance (panel cleaning) walkway. Inverter #4 is in and under test using one of the existing panel strings. These MaxSky Solar branded units are identical in every way to the Deye units, even the same firmware version. Works perfectly with the existing units and Solar Assistant, plus they are $$$ cheaper. The neighbours have installed wind-turbines!
  13. Yeah, bushes = those sintered-bronze bearings that dry out eventually.

  16. I'm not sure what he was trying with the porcupine, but it didn't like it ...
  17. Particularly when your Thai grand-daughter has this as her Facebore picture. Yes, she lives up to her logo!
  18. Do you really need an excuse to get more storage?
