  1. Could someone please tell me the difference between clear acts of sedition by the PDRC and acts advocating secession by some of the UDD? Aren't they both equally treasonous and unconstitutional? Except, of course, when seen through the glasses of the self-righteous!

Sedition: conduct or speech inciting people to rebel against the authority of a state or monarch.

Can someone please tell me how Suthep's supposed sedition is different from that in 2010 ? Easy to make a question seem like things are identical - in my case they are, both people's are/were actively seeking the over throwing/removal of a legally sitting government - and hence, by definition, sedition. Both actually fall under the definition of treason too - the crime of betraying one's country, esp. by attempting to kill the sovereign or overthrow the government. Both were attempting to overthrow the sitting Government without using the proper political process.

Making call for secession, and especially for a republic, is likewise treasonous - however, it is somewhat more dangerous than a load of nutters in Bangkok (both now and in 2010) that will eventually subside. It is permanent and very damaging - it is also a direct insult to certain parties that we can not speak of here, a thing not taken lightly here as you know.

    Agree in general.
To protest against a government that tries to exhibit for them self a Blank Check (in the dark of night around 4 am), to be unpunished all crimes of the past 10 years, is right against wrong.
Nobody has the right to rise above the law, even politicians not.
But to try to separate a country geographically, to build up an own state and to set up its own army is yet another caliber.
The law says for separatism lifelong prison or the death penalty.
For rebellion 3-15 years in prison
  2. From the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand, 2007:

"Part 7 Liberties in Expression of Persons and Mass Media
Section 45. A person shall enjoy the liberty to express his or her opinion, make speeches, write, print, publicise, and make expression by other means. The restriction on the liberty under paragraph one shall not be imposed except by virtue of the provisions of the law specifically enacted for the purpose of maintaining the security of the State, safeguarding the rights, liberties, dignity, reputation, family or privacy rights of other persons, maintaining public order or good morals or preventing the deterioration of the mind or health of the public."
I suspect that talk of sedition and secession are covered by a specific law enacted to "maintain the security of the State."

Section 113 deals with .......... separate the land or take over the administration of it. A violator is liable to life imprisonment or death

  3. Zapp:
    "Legal action against North separatists"
"Gen Prayuth has ordered Lt Gen Preecha Chan-ocha, the 3rd Army commander, to take legal action against the group," Col Winthai said.

Lt Gen Preecha said as director of the 3rd Region of the Internal Security Operations Command (Isoc), he had called a meeting of the governors of the 17 northern provinces and asked them to monitor and investigate any action which can be construed as affecting national security.
    The governors agreed to cooperate.
  4. Thinking differently is illegal now is it?

No, but secession is against the law in many countries with heavy penalties.

I have read only that some people are discussing the possibility and a desire to secede.

Can't see what is illegal about that myself.

You are not up to date.

They opened some recruitment offices already.

  5. The separatists are playing with fire.
    And they know that!
In contrast, the protests are nothing.
The land belongs to / from the King/Kingdom.
The attempt to cut off a piece of it, is immediately seen as an attack on the territorial borders of Thailand.
Trying to set up its own army comes a declaration of war.
I think may tanks are already on the way to show who owns the land.
Some "load speakers" are really stupid.

  6. The CMPO secretary-general further revealed that the court recently approved of a certain amount of budget to be spent on peacekeeping operations. However, the budget will have to be given a nod by the Election Commission (EC) as well.

If a state institution works for one side(group) only, then: no money.
    That would be fair.
If state funds are spent, all Thais should have a benefit equally.
However, the benefits of this institution: CMPO is questionable.
High cost - low benefit is always bad.
  7. BANGKOK: -- Red-shirt followers wore white headbands bearing the acronym “sor por por Lanna” ( the Democratic Republic of Lanna People) to welcome caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra during her visit to an OTOP trade fair held in Sankamphaeng district of Chiang Mai yesterday (Friday).

    What a tragedy.
The Ex Prime Minister, now Caretaker Prime Minister (at least for three days) from all over Thailand comes home in her
village Sankamphaeng, welcomed by a few separatists, offer her a small independent state.
But unfortunately she can not govern there, because her older sister Yaowapa Wongsawat
(she was baned for five-years for electoral fraud) wins the by election.
She replace Pheu Thai's Chinnicha Wongsawat, whose voting right was revoked for filing a false financial statement.
And even there the red shirts are unhappy with the move to field Yaowapa. They wanted the candidate to be chosen through voting.

So even there, at home, are political problems.

  8. 20,000 sacks... can some poor TV farmer please translate that into baht?

The taxpayer has paid so around 27 million baht for this 20.000 sacks.

Who robs a bank or steals 27 million baht goes into the prison.

What happens to the responsible persons here?

    I bet nothing.

And I bet that people have been paid to turn a blind eye here.

And I bet the rice was already transported many times through the country, unfortunately, becomes a little wet and the fungi were able to grow.

Some transport entrepreneurs have made here a big big fortune.

I hope the check the whole rice scheme.
There were hundreds of Billions misappropriated.
Since there is only one name: felons with mafia structures.

    Organized Crime.

  9. Now the profiteers of corruption coming out of their holes.
Now threatens the flow of money for them to tear.
Then with violence against the people who want to expose corruption.
EC, NACC, CC, and the courts are their targets now.
As long as the money flowed, they were quiet.
But now the Red Shirts and the PT extremists lead the word.
They are not interested in peace and unity.
    The only want money.
  10. Although this happened last Spring, it is clear that the nepotism continues. Is this what Thailand really wants - family member after family member thrust into power at the beck and call of Thaksin ? Clearly, that image is just peachy for Pheu Thai. But it's also a profoundly distasteful indication that however unsavory it looks to the general public, Thaksin really doesn't care.

I know of 5 Family members:

    Yingluck

    Somchai

    Surapong

    on save party list places

Yaowapa on the save Chiang Mai position and I think her son also. (But I am not sure on the name).

Any more more family members hidden somewhere?

  11. Surely better to ask Chalerm.

He ''knows everything about (both) the attacks, but would reveal details about them later''.

    Exactly my thought.

Charlem is a Pheu Thai member and minister.

Also Chief from the CMPO - CAPO - DSI

He knows all details about the attacks!

Why the PT not ask Charlem?

    Source:

    http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/706795-bangkok-ratchaprasong-m79-launched-from-pratunam/

"Meanwhile, caretaker Labour Minister Chalerm Yoobamrung, who is chief of the government's anti-protest command, said he knew everything about both the attacks, but would reveal details about them later. He also said that launching M79 rounds 100-metres from the rally stage had been done with "the intention of exploiting the violence". He did not elaborate."

  12. Yaowapa Wongsawat was baned for five-years for electoral fraud.

Now she is again in business.

She replace Pheu Thai's Chinnicha Wongsawat, whose voting right was revoked for filing a false financial statement.

So an electoral fraudster replaces a financial statement liar.

Husband Somchai Wongsawat runs on PT List Nr. 2.

He was baned for electoral fraud too.

Now he collects taxes for the country.

Electoral fraud and tax fraud seems to be a family attribute

  13. "Meanwhile, caretaker Labour Minister Chalerm Yoobamrung, who is chief of the government's anti-protest command, said he knew everything about both the attacks, but would reveal details about them later."

He is apparently the only one who knows everything about the last 2 attacks.
    How is this possible?
    That makes him therefore suspect.
    Or he retains important evidence?
Police must act quickly, because the killers are still running around freely.

  14. Grenades are fired, detonated bombs and shotings into crowds.

People die and what do the police?

    So far, nothing.
    Not a single case elucidated.
Have the police stopped to work for the people in this country?

I didn't realise they ever did.

I can not believe that somebody can launch grenades in the center of a major city, simply unseen. Over all are CCTV and certainly eye-witnesses.

Why the police do not work with all forces to arrest this killers? The passivity of the so-called police authorities is really worrying.

Until now, also no statement from the government police (DSI, CMPO, CAPO).

If you visit the protest sites and/or areas around the protest sites you will not see one single police officer for miles around. They have totally opted out.

Why did the police put not there some short-range contact officials.
If some peaceful protesters needing help, they can address the policemen.

I hope they can stop this senseless killings.

  16. Trat?!?!

I thought all the anti-government protesters were rich elite in Bangkok or radical Deep Southerners according to several TV experts.

    Sad to say!

When they stray out of their stronghold of Bangkok, and attempt to recreate in other parts of the country the havoc they created in Bangkok under the protection of the Rich E.E allies, they will be met with resistance,

    Cheers

    Tasteless posting.
    Shame on you.
Attempting to beat political capital out of the death of innocent people.
    That is sick.

  17. Any other political solution is better than this murder and mayhem theatre.
    1. YL with her brigades and Suthep with his brigades; both stop and must step down.
    2. In the next state lottery 01.03. in addition 20 numbers are drawn.
The 20 winners will be obligated as Caretaker Government for 4 month.
That would be cost-effective and fair.
    3. New Elections on the 01. July 2014
    4. All members of the last Parliament are excluded from the new Elections. ALL !!!!!
    No exception.
    They can not work together.
    They have only caused damages.
    5. Convicted criminals are prohibited on electoral lists and in parliament/government.
    6. Each party must establish a written election program.
With content and Budget proposals of use.
The public must be able to view the programs.

  18. What I want to know is:

    * How much rice do they have?

    * How much have they sold?

    * How much have they paid for it?

    * How much received from sales?

    * Plan for disposing of stockpile?

    * Credible plan with timeframe for paying farmers (no lies or BS)

    Too hard?

Sent from my Nexus 7 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

The United States and some Asian nations have sounded warnings at the WTO because of Thailand's alleged lack of transparency on rice sales and stocks.

The lack of transparency is really creepy.
Hopefully they ruin not also Thailands international reputation as a trading partner.
And this idiotic rice scheme still continues!
This government is not able to solve this problem.
