  1. he wasnt chinese so doesnt matter, they must obey their masters as it only applies to those that must be obeyed
  2. our daughter was quite fluent in english before she went to university to study to be a doctor, now after 4 years at uni she just speaks thai all the time and rarely english and when she does I can barely understand her. Being a doctor you would think being able to speak english would be fairly important but it would appear that for some reason the uni has made english a non event
  3. when I married my wife I paid nothing, she owned 2 houses, 8 units, 2 cars and manages a large business, she wanted nothing from me(its called love), her relo's did but she refused. If you actually pay anything you are marrying for the wrong reasons, if she is really in love with you and not your money etc she will want nothing except you, her parents/famly can go play with themselves. The only ones after sinsod are money hungry a holes, you paying for the wedding etc and taking her off their hands is enough, tell them where they can stick their sinsod and you should tell them/her if there is any sinsod there is no marriage
  4. dont know why it took so long, two people in love, above the age to marry and not closely related should not be stopped, nothing else should come into it
  5. I was on disability(portability) prior to turning 67 so when I was offered to go onto the pension or remain on dissability I chose to remain on my dissability pension, as I had portability I just kept getting it. I have not been eligible for medicare for several years though as I am living outside Autralia and would have to return and have an aussie address to get back on it but my pension is safe, if you want your pension and have been living outside Australia you will need to go back for 2 years to qualify unless you have portability, have had a few mates that have had to do it before they were granted portability and could come back here. In Thaland you get the flat rate without the extra benefits but if you fly into and then out of Australia after a short stay you do get them for a short period, I havent been back for a few years so cant remember how long they were given to me on my return
  6. what thais need to realize is that when the wages go up so does the cost of living, this is just an election bribe attempt as per usual, will drag all the uneducated people in tom thinking they wil be better off when they wont. While wages in Thailand are low they are similar to wages in all the countries around them, yes they do need higher wages but they do come with a cost to them as well, Thailand is third world, it is not in the same class as western nations so wage difference should not come into it, the wages have to align with the costs of living in this country. A pay rise is great as long as it does not mean that the cost of living rises and puts the thai people in an even worse postion of not being able to support themselves and their families, wage rises do come with a cost and businesses will always make profits whether they are here or in the west, people cannot compare Thailand to the US etc or would the expats whinging about thai pay rather see Thailand collapse on itself trying to compete with western countries
  7. unfortunately in Thailand the law means nothing, the arrogant/uneducated drivers will always force the issue and do as they please ignoring the law completely, while vehicles turning left at a red light should give way many do not. If you are facing a red light you do not have any right of way what so ever over cars with a green light and must always give way to them, same as the idiots that drive straight through stop signs etc, many drivers think the laws do not apply to them or simply do not undestand/know them.
  8. my wife grabbed a reasonably cheap one(Mondial) and we have been using it for over 2 years a lot, no need to get a top brand, they do a good job and do cut out a lot of oil plus there is lots you can cook in them.
  9. picking a colour off a chart is not easy as they are not always a true replica of the colour and they can change in different light, always look at the colour in natural light not under lights in a store. The decor in a room also can change how the colour looks once on the wall as well plus colours can change the mood of a room, some colours are cool colours while others are warm colors, they can add personal moods as well. Colour was my trade for many years, if you do not have a perceived colour you want then getting someone that can actually tell you what colurs would work best for you can be very helpful(although I think that might be very hard here), best bet is too look for large colour chips, the bigger the better and place them on your walls in different positions so you can see what they will look like under different circumstances. If you decide to try using different tins of paint to find a colour make sure to use a roller and not a brush as that will always stand out after you paint over it and always feather the edge of any paint patch you do
  10. makes you wonder who got "bonuses" from the airline while this person was doing the books, looks like it was some very high up people seeing he has been put in charge after sending the carrier down the gurgler with his money management skills, the only way o get ahead in Thailand is to make sure you take care of the big bosses or have the right name
  11. always do the same pics, in front of the house showing the number, sitting on the bed, sitting in the lounge, sitting at the kitchen island and one in the yard, never had any complaints from them
  12. before going to university to become a doctor our daughter had very good english, great pronounciation and sentences, now she can barely speak english and always answers me in thai, really have to wonder just what they were pushing at her university to turn her away from english. She comes across now with a thai is best attitude and that using english is demeaning, if this is what they are being taught at universities it explains why Thailand is getting worse as an english speaking country.
  13. when will the police start making truck drivers responsible for killing other road users instead of letting them make up BS excuses, driving to fast and too close, not having decent brakes, not knowing how to control the trucks, this all falls back on the lack of police doing their jobs. The truck drivers need to be charged with murder because that is what it is, they do not signal, they do not take care, they think they are kings of the road and drive like it because they know they can hit other with impunity
  14. they need to do as they used to do in Australia, 10am to 11pm, outside these hours they need to have a special licence, anyone caught selling to under age kids loses their licence to sell alcohol, large fines and jail time, same for anyone caught selling to drunk people but to do this you would need a working police force, something Thailand does not have
  15. more likely the brown envelopes have already been used and cant be returned or they dont want to return them, everything they do involves graft and now they are going to take worhtless engines, shows just how bad it really is
  16. so now they are pandering to everyone with a mental condition, 2 genders, male & female, anything else is solely in their heads and is made up BS, why everyone is pandering to these mentally deficient people is mind bogling, money?, votes? its simply far left woke idios in charge
  17. after about 40 years in the building industry and having done an apprenticeship I have been told by uneducated thais with no technical training they know more about anything then me or my wife sees something a thai put on the internet and tells me how to do it properly. When I painted our unit's shop I had thais watching me and they wanted to know why I was using drop sheets on the tiled floors and removing the power point covers as well as the door furniture before painting as well as not putting a heap of water in the paint to make it go further. Makes it hard when these people that have never done apprenticeships or any technical study think they know better when in most cases they are people that never finished schooling(thats if they even went to school) plus are just unskilled labourers at best yet think they know better than people that have the technical knowledge and education to go with it because this is Thailand, you have to expect thai people know more than anyone else because Thailand is the best country in the world, just ask them
  18. for some reason I have found thais do not like to remove the plastic packaging many items come in when it is only there to protect the items unil they are being used. If it is the plastic packaging and not something put on after it was bought then you should have no problems removing it, it will only be very thin plastic, if it is heavier plastic then it has probably been added later. The owner cannot make you pay for packaging plastic as it would normally rip easy anyway but this sounds like it may be the heavier plastic that has been placed on th mattress to stop any stains etc, you will need o strip the bed and check to make sure it is not a protector before doing anything.
  19. I got a yellow book for our other house very easily then when we built the new one we tried to have the address changed over for the new house as it is in a different district plus immigration said we needed to do it. When we went to get it done at the local offices they told us we cannot change it and refused to help in anyway what so ever, they said we have a yellow book already and that we do not need to get the address changed while immigration is saying they cannot accept it as it has the wrong address in it, trouble is the local office is very hard to deal with and refuse to do anything that they dont agree with, we pointed out that immigration said they need to change it but the head person says its their office so their rules, unfortunately in Thailand many officres do things their own way and totally disregard the rules even when its pointed out to them, they like to think they are the "be all & end all" and what they say trumps any regulations
  20. unfortunately the young generations these days are getting pretty pathetic, they cant handle anything, they want quiet spaces, they cant handle being told off, they cant handle people disagreeing with them or people having a different view, they really are big babies. While stress effects people differently ,the way modern generations are coddled doesnt help, ptsd has become the new way to be able to get out of anything that upsets them, what we considered temper tantrums etc years ago is now called ptsd and many have found that when they are older it is an easy way of getting out of work/doing anything as well as getting a payout. Returned servicemen & women used to be the ones suddering from it, now it has become a joke and is used as an excuse for everything
  21. again we see the thai govts racism in action, anything to make it hard for farangs
  22. I did my renewal through the Phuket office last year, took around 6 weeks from memory but you need to allow 2 plus months currently to be safe through any aussie immigration/consulate centre
  23. We used to go to Ranong every 3 months, leave Thailand after going through thai immigration to be stamped out and get on the boat and go over to the casino, hand over our passports to be stamped in & out, have a nice lunch and walk around a bit, walk back to the boat picking up our passports on the way, get back over to Ranong and go back through thai immigration to be stamped back in. Made for a nice day out and was only for 4 hours or so, no overnight stay required.
  24. because he is making it up as he goes, just sprooking a load of BS to try to get a bite, needs to remove his hands from where they are firmly placed, drives a porsche, ex sas, you name it, he will tell you he has done it, troll
  25. in Thailand the law only applies to the "peasants", once again we see just how much of a joke thai law/courts are
