    Exactly. I've been here 11 years and some of my friends longer and I've never heard of any of them having to carry an expired passport. That's just ludicrous!

    Well, every day is a school day. That's certainly not the case with Non O annual extension of stay though. They just change it over for you.

    You should change it over really. Both me and "she who must be obeyed" did ours in the last 12 months and it was completely painless. Just go to Immigration, fill out a form and bobs your uncle.

    They're "extensions of stay" and not visas. If you have the 800k a retirement extension is by far the easier option.
