  1. Mine do, everything is paid directly to Thailand. I only use my UK account to receive monthly rent payments from my agent and pay HMRC any tax due, Pluss 1, I am the same Uk pension paid directly to Thailand, UK account to receive rental income, most of that money I keep in the UK as spending for when I go back, a few weeks in the Uk can soon write off a 1000 GBP, and that does not include the return air fare.
  2. I would say they borrowed the money to prevent loss of face. Often why the dowry is so high is the cost of the meal for all the relatives and friends, normally the night before, you get 3-4 hundred people to feed that does not come cheap.
  3. How loge before these crashes, like most Thai government websites. Or, will it be like the almost nightmare of getting the Covid free certificate before entering Thailand
  4. I brought one bike, I had to tell the girl what she needed, it was just a copy of my passport and my visa/extension. Have now brought 3 new bikes and one second hand, never need a certificate of residence, just the above.
  5. It already has, after the last big floods in Bangkok, people moved to Khow Yai and surrounding area. It will not only be Bangkok that will kop it, but I am also in Lopburi province, 140 Km north of Bangkok, and we are only 56 foot above sea level, and they are places lower than this.
  6. If this of any help I brought the A15 5G a few months ago, it is all right, no problems, I am just a basic user, I have AIS's internet on it, the speed is good, it has been dropped, more than once, still keeps going, spends a lot of time in my shed with the radio on, into a Blue Tooth
  7. My 10 Stang worth, I use to work for a land scape gardening company in the Uk, use to do big warehouses on industrial estates only had Briggs and Stratton, they had a lot of use, never a problem. As has been said, they is a supplier of spear parts, I think? Briggs and Stratton are cheaper than Honda.
  8. You could try Bamboo, that will not fall over, quick growing, and you can eat the young shoots when they grow. One problem with bamboo is the leaves, when they fall, they get everywhere, but you could say the same with most trees. Make sure you get the right type of bamboo, not the 40-foot job, look at Pi-Leeung โผาลียง In Thai, and it has no thorns.
  9. Am I surprised that different countries embassy's want different information, no, as we all know IMO in the country want different information from other IMO. The Thai word for standard does not seem to exist.
  10. A, was well known graffiti ,'You can now borrow enough to get completely out of debt". Alot of debt is with the teachers, police, nurses ,or Thai civil servants ,it is time these government departments ,stopped loaning money out ,as I see it must be taxpayers money ?..........i.e. Wifes niece a nurse, not yet 30 years old ,has just had implants in her teeth cost 100k, that is on top of the 1 million baht she borrowed less than 2 years ago to get married, she earns about 35k Bart /month.
  11. You have forgotten something, we are farangs not Thai's your average Thai still likes him. Like Isaid he brought in pensions and money for the handicap, one of which is my wife's autistic daughter. And I would say that killing drug dealers, a crime against humanity, the jury is out on that one, the last president of the Philippines did the same thing. Will say, those 80+people that died in the back of that truck in Tak not his finest hour, the troubles down south were happening before his watch.
  12. I just completed this quiz. My Score 20/100 My Time 125 seconds
  13. What shock, my wife has been saying fort the past 3 weeks that he will get ousted ,she gets her news from the Thai TV, so others must have known.
  14. They got ousted by the power elite.......because they were too popular with the voters. And Thaksin did a lot to stop drugs on the street, which for a lot of people was a good thing, made him popular.... unless you were an army general selling drugs, finding your income dropping from the sale of drugs. Then him at the time, who was second on the rung of the ladder, borrowed some money from MR T, him at the top of the ladder found out and was not impressed. The two of the above together equaled a coup. And yes for your average Thia he was well liked, it was him that brought in the 30-baht heath care, brought in pensions, money for the handicap, very popular with the people.
  15. Yingluck was not in power for long when Bangkok had the big floods, everyone said then, she had no experience of politics, she seemed to muddle though, with more than a bit of help from BB. Then the rice scam happened, and her running down to Cambodia (rumors say with a little bit of help from him at the top). Let's give her a chance, if they are rumors of the atlas being open on the page with roads going east, we will know something is amiss.
  16. I just completed this quiz. My Score 60/100 My Time 71 seconds
  17. Dad did not pay any tax when he sold AIS ,he sold though the Thai stock market, then (or still is), if you sell a company though the Thai stock market you do not pay any tax. When I first heard that I thought that law wants changing, like lot of things here that's suits only the rich.
  18. Not my neck of the woods, I am in Lopburi Provence, as slugs11 said ask on Thai Facebook, or ask around where you live might be some locally.
  19. Not easy, the Nappier variety mainly used is Packchon 2 which has a low dry matter DM, or a high water conaint, compared to other Nappier varieties. One obvers way would cut it at an early stage of growth the stems are softer, still have a low DM but easer to dry than when the stems are old and hard, early stage of growth would be not more than 55 and a maz. of 60 days old We make Nappier grass silage, and we wilt the grass for 24-30 hours, tuning it once one the second day, our Nappier is Nappier Tiawan, that has a high DM, normally 24-30 hours is enough before chopping it for silage. We once had some Packchon 2 had to be dried for 2 days before chopping, just to wet. So, the answer is dry it in the sun, but easier said than done not easy getting the timing right with the weather,
  20. If I remember right when Thaksin was PM, his maid at the time was the third richest person in Thailand, he pays his staff well.
  21. Ah, the Whitehall Farses, at least our lot here keep they trousers on, they had scripts then, this lot seem to make it up as they go along, with Tony and co the main producers I think it will be scraped, a lot of economists said it was not a good idea country cannot afford it. But a piece on the BBC website a couple of weeks ago said more than one county was watching to see what would happen, more than one thinking about a cashless society.
  22. I live in Lopburi province, Lopburi has a big military base, home to the artillery regiment, their practice ground is 40km from us, for the past 4 days they have been out with the big guns on the practice range, we can hear them where we are. I have been saying Ob-Long-Batie-Watt in Thai, or practicing for a coup, that brings up a smile on the Thai's.
  23. May be free on a car but, in my rural area and others we have no places like places like "Cockpit", the nearest place near me like Cockpit does not do motorbikes, you will have to pay. This subject of using plugs on motorbikes has come up before, unless you have the kit, and can find the hole, unless a 2inch nail is sticking out, the tyer will have to come off not easy on a Fino,a job for a shop, if you can find one.
  24. I would say it would make more sense to rent one if it is only a one-off job, in my area, I see them all the time on trailers being towed to another job, it seems the latest business idea, prices now should be competitive, prices were about 800 baht/hour, now they should be a lot lower, just ask around in your area.
  25. And what about the valve, a tubeless valve is bigger than a tubed valve, I see it works in the photo, are they car valves, look different from the ones I have seen on cars, and will your local shop stock them. One thing, in my rural area, not many if any bike shops can fix a tubeless tyer, wife's daughter's Fino, they have to go to a car repair place, and one shop charged them 200 baht to fix a puncture.
