    I must admit that I'm waiting with baited breath for the cool season the start up north, near Chiang Mai. No sign of it so far. The sun is still baking hot at 8am when I go for my morning walk. It's still 22°C plus at first light.

    Presuming that he has vehicle insurance, there should be some third party cover particularly if is number one. So I would start with that before you start going after compensation. If he has it, make sure the insurance company has been contacted so they can start the process of paying out.

    Thai people don't stop at zebra crossings. So therefore any person crossing the road has to one hundred percent aware of this and be fully focused on what is going on around them until they reached the relative safety of the other side of the road. You should never, ever rely upon others for your own safety when crossing the road!!!!!

    The Christmas tree in Trafalgar square, at night obviously. And don't forget proper British fish and chips. My wife adored it when she was there.

    Maybe it's because Thais believe they can speak better English than native English speakers? In many cases they are brought up to believe that they are perfect in every way. And woe betide anyone who dares to correct or criticize their English skills, particularly an actual native English speaker!

    What do you expect for £200 (8500 baht) a night! Apparently there are some toilets but they could be anything up to one kilometer away from your accommodation. Which admittedly would be a bit of a pain if you need a pee in the middle of the night!

    In rural areas cash is king. And will be for the foreseeable future. Farm laborers are paid in cash and then go and spend that cash in the local markets. Many people don't even have bank accounts. Probably the entire population over 50 will have to die out before Thailand can even consider going cashless.

    How do you know that they start drinking at 9.00am? They may not have stopped from the day before!

    Was this really ever in doubt? I reckon the deal was done weeks ago but by announcing it at the eleventh hour just means everyone involved now looks like a real hero. Pats on the back all round....

    Normally the money is collected when you attend the actual funeral. There will be a table manned by several people taking the payments and you get a written out receipt. But also you can pay at a later date. For this you have to go to the house of the person has been given the responsibility to collect the money. Once again you will be given a receipt.

    We have never had a bill like that but we do have to pay 150 baht everytime someone dies in our village. Even if they live elsewhere but are connected to a local family, we still have to pay. It's all about helping to fund the funeral. My understanding is that this procedure is normal for Thailand. Although these schemes may vary from region to region with regards to how much you have to pay etc.

    So the barrier has come down and hit to rear trailer. I can't see why that would impede progress because there doesn't appear to be anything in front of the truck. Better to break the barrier than abandoned the vehicle and potentially put many lives at risk.

    I order quite a bit online these days, certainly more than I used to. It was during the early part of the pandemic that I changed my shopping habits and have never looked back. These days I really only visit an actual supermarket about once a month.
