  1. Just a couple of quick questions... The last I heard it now takes one month to process free residency certificates at CM. Is this still up to date information? Also, is it correct that CM immigration only except applications for residency certificates in the morning? I know you have to go upstairs. Thanks in advance ????
  2. Let's hope they didn't publicly name the shop otherwise Thailand's answer to Sweeney Todd could be on the war path!
  3. What were you cooking in them? Semtex?
  4. They don't have the capacity of those glass convection ovens although they do share the same technology. Air fryers do however cook really quickly so you wouldn't necessarily need to cook a big batch of chicken wings all at the same time. You could cook them in batches. The one I have which I believe has a 5.5 litre capacity can accommodate a smallish whole chicken no problem.
  5. This has happened many times in our house. The main cause being that not enough gap was left between the tiles when they were laid. So, when the house settles, as they all do the only way for them to go is up. It's not about heat because we've had problems in the cool season as well.
  6. So are they suggesting that all people from the west don't shower twice a day? Because that in it's self is having a pop at western culture and claims that we are all dirty and smelly. So who ever wrote this article has a problem with what some of us say about Thai culture but is more than happy to rather unjustly have a go at us.
  7. Just use Wise or similar.
  8. Quiche Lorraine is French. Therefore, by it's own definition it has to be posh.
  9. My favorite part of Angkor Wat was the temples reclaimed by the jungle.
  10. You mean like this?
  11. It is of course entirely possible that he had met some Thai lovely online and is now under her spell somewhere in the back and beyond.
  12. I've been to a lot of weddings here including my own. But as yet, I've never been to a wedding that took place at a temple. Of course that doesn't in any way mean that people can't get married at temples. More common venues are the bride's home if they have the space to accommodate it, hotels, resorts or restaurants. The actual ceremony doesn't really take that long, certainly not all day. But of course if you want a big reception, well that's a different story.
  13. I'm not entirely sure that there is an "agents fee" when using the VFS service in Chiang Mai. If there is is it's very small and well hidden. I renewed my passport there earlier this year and I paid what I'm fairly sure is the same price as what someone renewing their passport in Britain would pay. Plus, of course an additional courier fee to have it shipped out to Thailand. I also paid in pounds sterling, not baht.
  14. Those who will be living 20 million years from now?
  15. Well they just need to get their priorities right! You might want to consider moving to a backpackers guest house where they employ their own barista.
  16. She was probably just earning a little bit of overtime pay in her lunch break.
  17. That's a lot of 200 baht "incentives"
  18. What legal measures might they be? Let me guess. 10 years in prison? No chance. 2 million baht compensation paid to the families? No chance. Being prosecuted by the Thai legal system? No chance. Shave your head and become a monk for a week then carry on with your life like nothing ever happened? Check ✔️ As long the mentally of "accidents happen and no one is ever to blame" prevails then the power poles will continue to claim victims of a regular basis. This would be so easy to fix if the authorities had the balls.
  19. I know that some people might not believe this but not everyone has their phone in their hand 24 hours a day. If you are someone who actually has a life then a quick flick of the wrist to check the time is, and will always be the way to go.
  20. Mine has my address in English and Thai written on the back. I presume that this is normal for driving licenses issued to foreigners.
  21. The VFS office is located more or less opposite the Maya shopping mall, which is easy to find on Google maps. It is located on the top floor of an office building. They do have lifts so you don't have to worry about stairs. They have their own car park and when I went earlier this year there was plenty of spaces available. I applied in March and I booked an appointment via email. I believe that they are only open on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I was quoted a 13 week delivery time. For payment you have to download and to fill in the payment form from the UK government website. I paid with a UK debit card. You can also download the application forms from the same site. For renewals you don't need someone fill in countersignature section, at least that's what they told me after I went searching for someone to do it! You need official proof of your Thai address in written in English. I used my Thai driving license. You can't apply using a UK address. You will also need colour photo copies of every page of your old passport.
  22. An antiperspirant stops you sweating. A deodorant just masks bad odors.
  23. Apparently there are two tropical storms rolling in next week so everywhere should get a good downpour. So flooded will be the next thing to worry about.
