  1. This seems a bit of strange to me. You do absolutely nothing correct, not able to even fill in a form, and then brag about it....

I think you are at fault. But be added som penalties,,,,I think NOT....At least not any 500.000 baht.....

Try to be more active and take some responsibility, and you will be fine...

    Glegolo

I'm at fault because I don't know Thai Tax Law? One website said 40% , another one 20%, another one 0%. And now fedex says it was actually 10%.

With any reasonable shipping firm they do the tax declaration for you. DHL,UPS,Thailand Post all do this by themselves. If Fedex found out it was 10% what did I add by even doing the form. There was no information there that wasn't already in the shipping slip.

They just come to my door, after I tell them that I don't know if this form was correctly filled out, and tell me I have to pay a penalty of 4 times the CIF value because I lied on the form.

I just want to warn people that Fedex are obviously idiots in comparison to DHL,UPS, Thailand Post. And after seeing some other posts / topics here I don't think I'm incorrect.

Dont worry about him. You are not at fault. He is.

  2. You wrote 0% but you didn't sign it and without a signature that is not an officially valid or acceptable document. That's why you are supposed to sign it. The signature is required for a reason. To make it legit. They were insisting on you signing it for a reason. You didn't do it(which was smart) and that's why they didn't even answer. Instead they sent you some other shit to sign. You didn't sign that either so they just got fed up and delivered. And now they try to get rid of responsibility by telling you that you will be required to pay because of the percentage you wrote. It doesn't matter because you didn't verify it with your signature.

FedEx sucks so hard that it should pay a fine to customers for still operating. Just pay the 10% and next time use a courier not a bunch of idiots.

  3. Yes there is much insensitivity here.

The other day on an elevator, some Thais holding a very chubby and shall I say UGLY baby. The baby is looking at me. I am smiling at the baby trying to be a sport.

The baby starts crying. Oh well!

The Thais then start insulting me: calling me fat (in Thai), calling me UGLY (in English).

    Wow.

Yes I know Thais call people fat all the time but this was malicious.

It's like being regarded as a thing with absolutely no feelings.

Don't worry about it. The only thing they got left is that most of them are slim so they call everybody fat. Besides I dont know when they are going to notice that they are not slim because they are in good shape but they are simply skinny fat so they should just stay quiet.

  4. I would suggest get Lub 13.10 via torrent from distrowatch (should be available on 18 Oct after midday), install over 13.04, then get the lastest wine (google it, probably as a .tar.gz which you download, R click, and install with GDebi package installer). I will be doing this. AA

this is exactly the kind of answer that made me stay away from Linux...No offense, you were trying to help, but I didn't understand a word of what  you were saying.

    B)

    Lmfao this one was good.

  5. Dao 16,

I was addressing The other poster that stated his grandfathers story, but I would have to disagree with you on the word Gringo in comparison with the  word Falang, the word gringo originated during the U.S./ Mexican war and was a term used to denote North Americans because Mexicans along with all people from the American continent all considered themselves Americans.  From Alaska to Argentina and do not call U. S. people as simply Americans, as the U.S. uniforms were Green, the people would yell at them "Green Go" there is also an urban myth it was due to a song that contained these words in the lyrics"Green grow the rushes". Gringo also was not originated as an insult, it denoted North Americans.

The word Farang in turn did not originate in Thailand as their word for foreigners of European origin, it was a Persian word brought to Thailand by Arabic traders in the 1700's, that was widely used in North Africa and the Middle East and simply means "Foreigners of European origin".

Most any word can be used as an insult depending on the situation and the tone it is used in, but for expats that simply hear Thai's mention the word farang and consider it is used as an insult about them are overly paranoid,

The word Farang simply denotes "a foreigner of European origin" and is not a insult.

    Cheers:Posted Image

I agree. Several well educated thais have explained it to me and said the same what you just said:

The word Farang simply denotes "a foreigner of European origin" and is not a insult.
