In the BP this morning it reported that Chonburi would be taken out of the Red (maximum) zone and the restrictions would be eased. This included massage parlours and restaurants open to 11 and selling alcohol with the meal. On checking with Pattaya News and The Nation it says that the decision would be taken today or tomorrow. Other posts here state that its still banned.
I was really looking forward to going out for a meal tonight and having my normal 2 or 3 glasses of wine.
PS Yesterday the staff in my regular massage parlour were happy and told me that they would reopen today.

I was thinking more Navy or Air Force.

My stepson is out of work and depressed as he has no money and no prospects. Would volunteering for the Armed Forces be a realistic option. He is 23 and thought himself lucky when he missed conscription.

Buy a condo to live in. Pattaya will be very busy again after covid, so makes sense to buy a business now if at the right price, same with a condo
Of the 1/2 dozen condos for sale on our notice board there is one for 650,000 Baht. It"s a 64 Sq.m (double) . If I had that sort of money going spare I would buy it.

Talking to a friend this morning and he was commenting on the ridiculous state of the entertainment industry. He was in Retox on Saturday night. Had a meal whilst watching the FA Cup games.
He was disappointed that he couldn't have a glass of wine with his meal. And then to add insult to injury at 9PM it shut.Turfing them all out to the street.
Then I told him that although he couldn't buy alcohol in a restaurant, all the 7-11's, Tesco's etc were selling alcohol as normal.
We agreed that this might be the last straw for some restaurants as without the profit on alcohol and the fact that some people (like me) dont eat out if they can't have a glass of wine or 2 with their meal.
And as for shuttling at 9pm the mind boggles.

1983 first time here. Went for a swim and cut my foot open on broken glass. Haven't swum in the see at Pattaya Beach since. Jomtien was OK then but the last time I swum there i came out itching and rushed to the shower in Pattaya Park.

There are no places in that list on the west side of Pattaya. There might be one or two on the Dark Side.

I made a mistake with my doctors appointment. I was thinking February but it's next week . So on Monday I will be going to Lifecare for their 5oo Baht package which includes Blood Sugar.
Thanks for your suggestions anyway.
-
Can anybody tell me where I can get a free or low cost Blood Sugar Test. I am due to have a 500 Baht Blood test at Lifecare in 6 weeks (before my hospital appointment). So I just want to know how my Blood Sugar is doing now. I dont want to know anything else.

A bad decision from a customers perspective. Already prices have increased and some brands of items are no longer being stocked. Macro was always cheaper than Tesco anyway, so will be shopping even less at Tesco now and moreso at Macro. Unfortunately no Big C here.
Makro is also owned by CP

Why can't they do the sensible thing and just ban alcohol while the polls are open,

I remember some years ago when they were still shutting the bars for the kings birthday they had a General Election in December.
The weekend before the election the bars were shut for 2 days for Pre Election voting then the following weekend the bars were shut again for 2 days for the election proper.
I remember some bar owners ranting about it saying how bloody ridiculous shutting the bars for 5 days in a peak tourist month. The bar girls were nun to happy either.

If they are going to keep closing Bach Road for these festivals they need to do something about the traffic. The traffic last weekend for the fireworks was the worst I've ever seen. I think they need to turn back 2nd Road to 2 way.

I do what the pros do, Hilton,Home Pro...etc
1.. prep is more important than the Paint
2. Clean walls with a solution of Bleach/water, kills everything and will clean surface effectively...
3. Sand cement wall with large sanding block available at The Watsadu, prime with Jotun cito 09, goes deep into the cement...solvent base..what Home Pro uses out side and inside their buildings...
4. Use a primer...again use a primer even over old work...TWO COATS
5. Use a semi-gloss Paint on the Drywall/Gypsum...easier to clean and more.
6. Toa and i like 4 seasons Paint...SEMI_GLOSS...flat is too pourous....
Can you tell me where to buy this Primer?

Difference IMO is that watches are a machine and anyone can learn about a machine. IMO wine is an individual thing and everyone probably has different ideas about wine, so the waiter has to be able to "stroke" the customer, as well as know a lot about hundreds of different wines.
Tell me, are waiters in restaurants that sell wine in Thailand just waiters, or are they special waiters that deal only with wine ( I believe there is a special name for them )? Sooooo, if only waiters why would anyone expect them to know much about loads of different wines, and all the boogaloo that goes along with wine. For all we know they were working in a rice paddy the month before they started in the restaurant.
IF they are special waiters that deal only with wine I WOULD expect them to know about such.
However, I suspect that while they may very well exist in LOS, they work in restaurants where posters on TVF will never be able to afford to dine. So, seems to me that some on here are expecting to get 5* service while paying for a 2* service.
i-am-unlikely-to-do-business-with-a-place-that- needs a waiter that deals only with wine.
That special waiter is called a Sommelier
Bars and pubs in Bangkok to remain closed but it's good news for pub goers in the rest of Thailand
