  2. If you no longer live here what do you need a local DL for? You can use your home country DL and international permit
  3. Got married and took his husband's name? On a serious note - there must be a paper trail of the name change. If I was in his shoes I'd bring with me the official paper trail, give the IO both passports with the old one opened to show the re-entry permit and all other relevant documents. This should suffice for the IO to give the correct stamp, maybe with a supervisor consent. If not, he should go to immigratin and try having them rectify the problem
  4. Just wait till his boss finds out how he himself can make big money out of it and it will be all legal. They'll probably make complicated rules and laws as to who can grow\sell - rules that only the boss can comply with, and then it'll be ok
  5. No, it wouldn't. What would be amazing is if they provided a solution for garbage and agricultural waste, then educate, and only then ban and fine the burners. Same as with child labour and prostitution - you can ban it all you want, but without giving an alternative it will go on as usual.
  6. Thai citizens and permanent residents MUST be registered in a blue book. Non Thai\non residents have the option to be registered in a yellow book that is issued based on the blue book of the unit.

  8. The only issue I see is that if you get the 6-10 months payment promotion is that you have a local cc, and that means you're here on long term permit such as for work or marriage or maybe even PR. All those are not entitled for the vat refund AFAIK.
  9. I'm pretty sure they want to see the 40k in HER account in Poland, not in your account here. I only issued a "sponsor" letter once, was more of an invitation letter saying the applicant wishes to travel to Thailand and will stay with me. Nothing was said about sponsoring the guest nor any evidence of finance from my side. It was for a normal TV, not e-visa.
  10. Had a case like that over 10 years ago. The tenant stopped paying rent claiming they can't go out due to the massive flooding in BKK. After a couple of months that the agent couldn't get the money for me we set an appointment with the tenant at the agent's office. He never showed up, so after over an hour of waiting the agent and I went up to the unit to find it in a shocking state of abuse and pretty much all of the tenants belongings gone. Luckily they left a couple of things behind, one of which brought suspicions of illegal activity, so I told the agent to call him and tell him he's got 1 day to show up and pay the rent, or I'm going to the police. I also changed the lock right there and then so he couldn't get in. He called the agent (probably after trying to go in later that day) and begged to get his things back promising he'll pay later. Eventually he came, paid the rent owed, took his things and left

  12. I think it must be something like that. Last month I got an SMS from my credit card bank that an attempt was made to charge the card (this 1 is not in regular use and hardly ever online) but they put a song expiration date so the transaction didn't go through. There were actually 2 attempts within about 10 minutes. I called the bank and they said it was online transaction. I asked to replace the card so the original was instantly cancelled and I got a new one in the mail 3 days later...
  13. After being exposed to a very loud noise Manny years ago my ear started "ringing". When I was checked at a hospital I was told that the eardrum was damaged, although very minor damage. It took a while to recover, but there is a loss of hearing (certain frequencies) and the "ringing" never stopped. I was told by the doctors that since the nerve was damaged, there's nothing they can do to stop it. It was very difficult to fall asleep in the first few month, but after a while I kinda "got used" to it and most of the times I don't notice it. Of course now that I'm writing about it the ringing is louder than usual, but it will fade later...

  17. I never applied for an Irish visa, but have applied many times to other European countries. Assuming you're all about a visa for a Thai national, it makes a difference the nationality of the other person and the relationship of the 2. If you are the other person, you are a citizen of a European country and you are married to the Thai person, it will be much easier to apply at your own Embassy as you won't have to show financial proof nor a hotel reservation. You still might have to show flights reservations which can be booked by a travel agency without issuing the ticket so the booking can later be cancelled. Once you get the Schengen visa you can travel to any of the Schengen countries. If you are not a European or not married to the Thai person you'll probably have to show a hotel reservation for the full duration of your visit (can book through any of the booking website, look for a hotel that you only have to pay for upon arrival and that you can cancel the reservation without penalty). On both cases the Thai person will need a medical insurance and the embassy would give you a list of insurance companies acceptable by them.

  19. You contradicted yourself in your reply. True, there is no separate chanot for the house in most cases and the land department doesn't care what's on the land. The only body in Thailand that keeps records of ownership is the land department, so apart from condo units (and the rare cases of house chanots) - you cannot truly own a house in Thailand unless you own the land itself. When buying a plot of land or a condo unit, it's not the legal contract that "gives" you ownership or proof of, is the record at the land office. As for the notice at the o.b.t - that might be the case because of the mortgage, but that's not the usual practice when selling\buying property in Thailand. The usual way is seller and buyer go together to the land office, pay the transfer fee and on the spot the buyer's name is added to the chanot and the buyer goes out of the office with the chanot.

  21. You're wrong. The only proof of ownership is a chanot (yes, I know there are lesser types of title deed such as ns3) and your house doesn't have 1, does it? If you decide to sell, could you change the name on the building license? I think the answer is no. Developers have a way to issue separate chanots to the house and the land. I'm not sure how exactly it works, but I know someone who bought a house in a gated village and had done problems with the separate chanots (one of which was never transferred to her name by the developer). So the property the op is taking about might be such a case, of a house and land in a gated village.
  22. Why would you charge a phone battery at 70%? Or 50%? A battery has a number of cycles it can go through before it start losing the efficiency to hold power. The more times you charge the worse gets. Better let it drop to about 20% before charging it, so in your case, when the phone was new it it only used 30% per day you should have charged it once every 3 days. As @sometimewoodworkerwrote, when you try to fully charge the battery and it doesn't go above 70% - that would be a good time to look for new battery or phone.
