  1. Can you please explain how the yellow/ blue book has anything to do with paying or not paying taxes? AFAIK the house registration book is only an official proof of address that any Thai citizen residing in Thailand MUST be registered in whereas non Thais don't have to. It has nothing to do with ownership of the property. Moreover, land without a house on it doesn't have a blue book, yet tax is being collected for it as well. And do you really think the Thai government has designed a property tax to be collected only from foreigners? How many foreigners do you think own property here?
  2. . Airport tax is charged at all airports around the world and go to the airports. As far as I can remember, it used to be 150 baht, then 200 - all paid cash at the airline's counter at check in, then 500 that was paid at special booths. Thai nationals also had to pay that. Later on it was increased to 700 and it's charged in the ticket. Most western countries have been charging this tax through the tickets for decades. The US has incoming tax as well, for well over 30 years. UK has one of the most expensive airport taxes, and about 20 years ago they started charging even higher taxes for business and first class travellers. BTW- there's also airport tax for domestic travel. Used to be 30 baht years ago, and gone up to 100 baht around the time that international airport tax was increased to 500 baht. Up until about 30 years ago Thai citizens had to pay a "going overseas tax" of about 1400 thb on top of the airfare and departure taxes. As for other "taxes" airlines charge, well, that started about 15 years ago in order to reduce the commission they had to pay travel agents as commission is (actually was as most airlines give 0 commission now...) only on the actual fare and not on the total including the taxes. It also effected the price of bonus tickets, those you use your accumulated mileage or points to pay for. In the past all you had to pay cash for were the airport taxes. Now most of the price IS the taxes for which you have to pay cash for.
  3. If your mobile network sort it (AIS does) you simply turn wifi calling on your phone, then put the phone on airplane mode, then turn on WiFi only.
  4. You can't have the plant in your garden and also smoke it. Or can you?
  5. Seems you also miss the point. Unvaxed does NOT mean infected any more than vaxed means not infected. The 5% of infected cases are ALL VACCINATED as they all came under the T&G and sandbox programs. In my experience and knowledge from Western countries - unvaxed have to test every few days if they want to go to places such as restaurants, pubs and even university whereas vacxed people hardly ever get tested as they hold the grin pass. A friend of mine is a teacher at a primary school where most kids are unvaxed, just like her. Most other teachers are vaxed. If she wants to continue teaching she has to take a test twice a week (and pay for it too) , but none of the vaxed teachers have to get tested.
  6. According to what you say, as he's only staying for 1 night until he gets the negative result of a swab taken upon his arrival it makes no difference
  7. OK, but that can happen anywhere. At the market, shops, walking down the street and from your family members just as well.
  8. I really dotn't understand the panic and and the ridiculous 2 systems (1 for vaxed/1 for unvaxed). Some facts to consider: 1. The covid tests can detect the virus about 3 days after infection. So the test you had up to 3 days before the flight only show you were not infected up to 6 days before the flight, and the 1 you took on arrival shows you were still clean up to 3 days before arrival. 2. Vaxed people also get infected and infect others, and the covid tests work the same for vaxed and unvaxed. The different ways to treat vaxed/unvaxed around the world is just to put more pressure on people to get the jabs, there's nothing medically based on it. And last point - didn't you get vaxed on order to protect yourself from covid? Don't you trust the vaccine?
  9. I was about to write that if there is ANY life there - better stay clear............
  10. A couple of years ago I decided to give it a try, but once I saw all the irrelevant permittiions the app wanted I didn't go ahead with it. All my CC's have contactless option now though.
  11. That's airport tax and anyone who travel pays. I don't think there's any airport in the world that doesn't charge departure tax. In the US there's also an arrival tax (or at least there used to be). BTW- about 30 years ago there was a "going overseas tax" for Thai citizens. A Thai travelling overseas had to buy this tax coupon at the airlines offices, and it was over 1000 baht
  12. There is no such thing as housing authority. It is done at the district office (khet in BKK and ampoe in other provinces). Registration in the blue book has nothing to do with property ownership. It is simply an address registration. The blue book does not expire if you change address. You (as a tenant) are deleted from this book and must be registered in the book of your new address. The new address is not registered in the old book and the new book doesn't show the old address
  13. No. The idea is that a car running on the road on its 8th year must be tested. The new tax sticker (or disc for those who think we are in the uk) will be valid through the 8th year of the car and therefore must be tested before approved.
  14. fraudsters?? How about thieves to better describe this action? And the description: as sick as a duck. English people might say as sick as a pig Is this a new report or a need time story for kids?
  15. Thanks for the explanation. I was lost without it. I replied to the part in the op saying the temp readers DO NOT DETECT HIGH FEVER IN ASYMPTOMATIC people. Let me walk you through my logic: 1. Asymptomatic means you don't have symptoms. 2. Fever is A symptom. 3. An ASYMPTOMATIC doesn't have symptoms (look at No. 1 above) 4. Temp readers try to detect 1 symptom (ie high fever), but as in No. 1&3 above ASYMPTOMATIC people (carriers or innocent) do not have any symptoms there's nothing to detect hence was my somewhat sarcastic question "what a surprise"
  16. 1. Have you read the list of symptoms? 2. If it's not one of them, why on earth every shop, market, condo building, hospital and pretty much every public place have temp. checking machines installed since day 1 of the pandemic on Thailand? (As was the case in many other countries around the world, although many countries stopped it since...)
  17. In the op it said it doesn't detect ASYMPTOMATIC people. High fever IS A SYMPTOM. your comment about people not being able to notice their high temperature is irrelevant.
  18. P4 kids are about 10 years old. The most mature looking girls this age I ever taught or saw anywhere wouldn't pass as 14, let alone 18 years of age, and fake id or not, no bar would ever hire them, not even to sell flowers
  19. And for the last 2 years how many goverments around the world have actually addressed THIS problem by increasing capabilities?
  20. Does that mean you'll learn from his mistakes and be more careful with your plans??
  21. Some people reported (to the police) that they got interesting items such as sex toys. Maybe you should reconsider...
